Silly Wednesday ...

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Silly Wednesday ...

Postby Getupngo » Wed Jun 09, 2010 3:33 am

Good morning all! I'm a home for a few days -- with an Internet connection -- so I've been catching up!

Funny story to share. I was dozing last night and woke to hear the sound of what seemed like dozens of little mouse feet in the ceiling of my rig. Then they all stopped. Then it started again, and I got up and walked around, frantically thinking I should bait and set my mousetraps out -- right then! As I stood in the bathroom, I realized that the "scurrying" sound was also coming from the bathroom vent lid.

It was gently raining!

GOOD MORNING JANICE AND ALL!

That would DEFINITELY be a lot of little mouse feet scampering around your rig! Glad to hear it was just rain! I have my 5th mouse caught in my live-trap this spring to release this morning. During the rain, wind, and cold last week, I let one go just out back here, rather than taking it down the road a mile to release it. I caught him again last night! I recognize it because it has a war-torn, frayed ear that looks like a torn sail! This time he will go with me on my way to school and be let go far from here! If I see him again, I will have to rethink my knowledge of mice!

It's another cold one for us, at 37 degrees. There was no frost on the grass when Molly and I came in from the trailer, but it's COLD!

It was a no show for Hope, the little bear cub, yesterday, in the wind and rain they were having in Ely. I sure hope she turns up somewhere today for some food. Her mother, Lily, is indeed again in estrus, and has a mate. So much for hoping she will ever mother Hope again, especially with no more milk.

I am extra cold in here this morning as I had to down a glass of COLD water with my bone-protecting pill. I can't wait to be able to wrap my hands around a cup of hot coffee in a half hour.

I have time to pay some bills now, get dressed, and head off to another day of useless interaction with my students. The mother of my girl who is comatose for at least half the day due to meds and lack of proper sleep picked her up yesterday to take her for some blood work. The mom ended up carrying her backpack, zipping up her fleece jacket for her, treating her like a two-year old. The girl turns 17 tomorrow. While she does have the ability to actually hold down a job of sorts, earn her own way in life, support herself, her mom is keeping her totally disabled as then she reaps the benefit of the SS disability checks that her daughter brings in each month now. It makes me totally sick to see this kind of behavior allowed to continue. It is definitely time for me to get out of what education has become----a glorified baby-sitting situation for adults.

Sigh.....almost time for coffee, thank heavens! Stop by and tell us about your day and what you are doing to enjoy yourselves. Later........
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

You had me going there GetupNGo!! I started thinking about furry little rodents, and got the chills. So glad your story had a happy ending!

This morning I'm sitting here catching up on some blog reading, listening to the birds chirp outside. I think breakfast is the next on the list of things to do. The usual. Yogurt, granola, berries and nuts. The breakfast of champions!

Good Morning Ladies!

If you haven't seen Tina's photos yet, I suggest you take a look. She posted many last night in the Get Together, Pet, and Belle threads. Great job, Tina!

My A/C repairman had not arrived by the time I had to leave to meet Beth & Jean yesterday. I let the office know I'd leave the back door open for him. He called late afternoon to let me know he came by but Nicky would not allow him inside. Apparently he barked/growled enough to scare the repairman. Who knew, maybe I do have a watch dog  Fortunately he came back after 5:00 and got the unit working again (problem was the thermostat, not the unit). By bedtime house was cooling down nicely. Good thing as our heat index is forecast to get above 100 this weekend.

Wishing you each safe travels or at least a fun day.

Today is a little nicer than yesterday, which rained on and off all day. I did 19 haircuts yesterday in 6 1/2 hours! Made some good bonus money! My new scissors and hair dryer worked great! But I think my clippers are dying on me now. Always something! The boss wasn't working yesterday so it seemed a little less stressful there. She'll be back today tho! I guess she was crabby last weekend, so maybe she will be in a better mood today.

I checked out that new Pilates place down the street. They aren't quite open yet but I talked to the owner. I might start doing the mat classes if she can get enough people signed up right away. It is a lot cheaper than using the machines! I sure need something for my poor aching back!

I sure hope Hope can make it on her own! She is a very vulnerable little bear right now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Have a good, safe day!

Good-morning !!! Setting here having my cereal and fruit and enjoying all the pics on the GTG thread, now it seems there are more on other threads here :) Good, will check them out in a few mins. I just caught up for this week anyway on this thread. Soos, I love all the pics you have put in of Hope, What a cute little bear.!!

Spent most of yesterday,up at the hospital for post-op visit. Everyone seems so nice, hope they stay that way :? They EXPECT me next Tuesday at 6 in the morning, I will have to get up here really early and try to function on no coffee? Its quite a drive from here. Told my sister that yesterday evening and she said " you have to get up and leave how early" she emphasized "you". I hope they don't expect me up there all smiley too

Its beautiful here today, I mowed my whole yard after I got home yesterday and it looks so good out there. I have worked so hard to get it looking nice, where I can enjoy it and others keep it mowed. I'll be here to supervise at least this summer, so it won't all grow back up. Young man who lives in my cabin, is supposed to do it, but he doesn't do a good job, this year, I will see that he does ;) I plan a less active day today, thought I would see some of whats happening here and then do a few chores here in the house. If I work real hard one day, next, I ease off some.(lazy) suitable name for the easy day.

Well, on to the others pics of the Al. GTG, . Have a Great day everyone, for those, traveling
Safe and Happy travels,

Carol, please tell me that someone is getting up also and driving you up there. You don't need to be doing that yourself! And if you need to tell your sister you need her, please do so! Or a friend! I hate mornings, but didn't hesitate on any of those days Jean and I had to be up before 5 to make the appts necessary. It's just something you do.

Peaches and I got a walk in and had thunder booming around us when we returned to the rv. She's curled up right at my side at the moment. She really doesn't like thunder. It rained for just a minute and I'm guessing there'll be quite a bit more of it today. At some point, I'll be going shopping today. Otherwise, I'm going to enjoy the soud of the rain on the roof - one of my fav sounds, even if I am tired of rain :)

Have a great day, everyone.

Speaking of thunder, did you all read about the guy last weekend who was hiking with his girlfriend up a mountain to their favorite spot, to propose to her? Just before they got there, she got struck by lightning and was killed! Can you imagine? I guess the lesson is, don't hike to the top of a mountain in a thunderstorm! Lightning is one of the leading causes of death by Mother Nature, so be careful out there when you hear thunder! I love thunderstorms as long as I am in a safe place (under the covers!).

YES, BEth, my sister is taking me. She was just teasing me . She is always an early riser. In fact, she is the one with an alarm, as I don't have one in the house. (had to hear one to many years, now I'm programmed, but this is important, so need one that morn. maybe) She will be here with me the whole week. I will be fine, IF I have too, I will call some who have offered to do things for me. (I'm possibly too independent) Asking for help, is very hard for me. I do appreciate so much all the concern you all have shown for me. Makes this time so much easier. The waiting and thinking does do a job on you, one reason, I have stayed sooooo busy here. Another reason is I've played to much past couple of yrs and there was sooo much to catch up,  But you know i could have driven myself to hospital, and thought I might at first have too, and then have someone pick me up. There are always ways around living alone and having to deal with occasions like this. But she volunteered, which is wonderful, and i'm looking forward to our visit, we don't see one another enough.

Barbie, that poor fella , he will never want to propose to another girl, thinking he will cause her dimise.!!! What a terrible thing he has to live with.

Beth, we have rain and terrible storms coming in later today, are you pushing them this way? :?  thats ok, I have a good book to read :)

Good Morning Ladies... cloudy day here... rain yesterday... that is all good... do not have to water...

Oh Carol I echo what Beth said... PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE TAKE YOU AND STAY THERE WHILE YOU GET YOUR SURGERY!!! Being alone is not good... have someone let us know how you are later... my prayers have been with you and will continue to pray....

It will be strange to not have Gwen with me now... she was such a help... however she did get a bit edgy the last few days... think she was dreading leaving and happy to go... she called this morning to let me know she got home safe and sound... she lives in an old historic house... she got it for 35K and fixed it up... it was a horrid mess I would not even think of buying it... well she and her sister Jackie fixed it up and a year later it was re assessed and was worth 92K she was so proud... and she loves the house...

I will be here for 3 weeks alone then Jackie and my granddaughter Sekana will be here... fun time we will have they will stay for a month...

I have not got much planned for today... I send good thoughts to everyone...

Oh, good Carol. I'm so glad. And I know the independent part. But there's times to loosen that up and allow help in - this is one of those times. (Would have put that in all caps, cuz it's worth yelling - but you don't deserve to be yelled at).

That couple may be like here - there was no rain, just a partially cloudy sky when the thunder came here. Rain followed. Now is gone again - so unpredictable. It'll be back, of that I'm sure.

So glad Carol that you will have someone with you. I know how hard it is for some of us to ask for help but other people usually are really happy to be able to help out. Please keep all of us posted on your progress. ((((((Carol)))))

I took Little Missy back to storage yesterday as rain was expected and I wanted her undercover as I had just dried out the awning. Turned out the rest of the day was nice. I should have taken her to the SP and parked next to the river and read/taken walks. The rain finally arrived at 3 this AM. I haven't been sleeping well so was awake when I saw about 5 quick lightening flashes immediately followed by a huge clap of thunder, then the heavens opened up and it poured for almost an hour. I was hoping they'd me more thunder but the one time was it. They say a chance of T-storms this afternoon. Our weekend is suppose to be sunny and in the upper 80s! :o Why do we go from one extreme to the other? Nothing gradual anymore it seems.
Last night on PBS I watched a special on the Mt St Helens eruption. It was one I hadn't seen before and was very informative about eruptions/mud flows/and how the debris pushed most of the water in Spriti Lake over the rise and actually made another lake! A week later a photographer/crew were walking around in the ash and their soles of their shoes were melting as it was still that hot under the ash!
Time for my allergy meds. I don't feel I'm doing any better as my head feels congested constantly and I also have a constant headache (tension headache, had it before after my brother's death). Only good thing is my cough is almost gone.
Ok, I feel a late morning nap coming on.
Hoping everyone has a wonderful day!
