Ok, quick post before hitting the hay. First of all THANK you for the kitchen tips. I was dreaming about bringing my bread maker among other things. Goodbye homemade bread! Boo Hoo!

Second of all, since so many people are commenting on the "middle aged" thing. I think you all should know that I will be happy enough to reach 80. Don't really want to get any older than that. Yes, I know, these days people are living longer and longer. I just think once my body and mind go, then it's time for me to go too. **There are a lot of health problems and dementia in my family** Good people, Bad genes I guess. Yes, I do know people live healthy active lives as 80 and 90 year olds. It just hasn't happened to anyone in my family...but I guess I could break the pattern. I try hard to take care of myself. I eat healthy, exercise, reduce stress (except for the selling all my stuff and moving part!)

So much for gracefully entering this forum. Welcome to my dirty laundry! LOL!

Barbie, I got mine at an rv show (saw it one year and kicked myself for not buying it - and went to the Rally the next year and purchased - so did Sparkle). I just did an online search and found this review: http://www.myboatsgear.com/mbg/product.asp?prodID=1477

It's not cheap cookware - I found the companies website where they will sell it online, but did not pay this price at the show (paid less) and we both paid even less cuz we waited till the last day of the show, a couple hours before it ended and made deals to purchase their 2 show sets. But here's the company page and price of it online: http://www.pro-selections.com/product.cfm/25939/

All that said, even at the lower price at the show (stil expensive) I couldn't convince myself to buy the first year. But I'm really glad I did. I love it and never intend to need to buy cookware again.

OK - did my spiel, they should pay me :) And I hijacked this thread - so back to it.

Age, it's just a number. At this point in life I figure I'm past middle age as I can't imagine I'll live to 114 - but hey, if I could and still be doing the things I love, I'd go for it.

Thanks Beth! Wow, that is pricey! I'd have to think long and hard about that, especially since I don't cook all that much. I just like the idea of being able to use the same pan on the stove, in the oven and has a plastic cover for storing in fridge.

Age is all in the mind! I feel like I am still in my 20's! (altho some days, not so much!). I sure don't feel, think or act my real age! As far as a mid-life crisis, I am on my third one now!  Getting rid of everything and moving to California in September! :o
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Yeah,, we aren't nosy, just interested on learning all the tricks we can, even at our "advanced" ages. LOL!! Enjoyed your cleverly put together blog. Will be looking for more along the way. Where are you heading to first? (or did I miss that post)..

WELCOME, NELLIE!!!

I hope to meet out there on the roads somewhere, after I get used to retirement and realize I no longer have schedules to meet! (I am retiring at the end of this month, after being involved in teaching since 1962!)

You will have a fun time with all of the people on here!

Thanks for the warm welcome!!

We haven't made any plans for the end of June when we first head out, or even for July!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a total type A personality so that's freaking me out!! BUT, the whole point of this adventure is to step outside the box. Go where the wind blows us. We have a generator in case we really get stuck without a reservation :)

In August, we're definitely going to be in Colorado, then Utah...and Arizona. Not sure where or for how long. I guess you'll have to follow along on the blog to see where we end up...even if it turns out to be a mental institution...LOL!

MERCY ME!! Just reading this post is giving me heart palpitations!

Welcome Nellie, join the Escapees club you'll have a blast and how you write your blog shows you are a very funny gal that would fit in with the BOOMERS group. Dan (60) and I (57) have been Full-Timers for 9 yrs and have only covered the West coast and Mexico. We plan on heading to the East coast next summer and have fun over there.
You sound like a great couple. You'll love Utah and Arizona. We winter in The Foothills of Yuma Arizona Nov-Apr with our motorhome and then travel around in the Summers and mostly hang out all over Washington state visiting friends and family. We travel with 3 cats, our eldest cat passed away on Monday , so we have only 2 now and will not get another one because so many parks have a "Two pet only" limit and the boys demand to go outside all the time.

Beth I have a set of stacking pots and pans like you got but mine were non stick and alot cheaper but I wanted your set. Puyallup Fair will be in Sept and I'll be looking for that set there, if they don't have it I'll hope to see it in Quartzsite in January. Hopefully I too will not pay the huge price. I know my other set I got was from camping world and less than $100.00. I love that they stack and take up less space. I want a set for the casita ( our little house in AZ Nellie)

Nellie you are going to LOVE this lifestyle just like we did, everyone is nice and friendly. You may meet a grump from time to time but they are rare, this lifestyle is so relaxing. Just don't be in a vacation rush mode and you'll enjoy it to the max!
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away

Hate to be disagreeable but age is NOT just in your mind. My mind is quicker and more agile than when I was young but my body is no way matches that. lol Also, I am definitely not middle aged (almost 52) since i have absolutely NO intention or desire of living to 104.

Hey Nellie,
Sending you a warm welcome from the Tampa Bay area...still no "tar balls" here..yet.....love your pictures from your blog. I just joined this bunch of "wild women" a few days ago. My husband is a teacher and I am an El. school secretary. Love having the same days/summer off together. We often talk about what places we want to visit when we can finally have the "rig of our dreams"...take care and
Enjoy your day!

No knead (get it??? ) to give up homemade bread...
(comments on bread not mine)
I've made this and VickieP (Doofus) has made it, too. It's really good!

Peasant Bread

This is similar to a recipe that was here recently but I whittled it down to make 1 loaf. This is excellent the day it is made, and makes great toast the following day. Found it in a magazine some years ago. Perfect for camping as it needs no kneading.

1 1/2 tsp. yeast
1 cup warm water (divided)
2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. sugar

Dissolve yeast and sugar in 1/2 cup warm water. In bowl combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and remaining 1/2 cup water. Stir until combined. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour. Stir down. Place in greased 1 1/2 quart round casserole dish or ovenproof bowl. Brush top with melted margarine ( I use the spray). Rise in warm place until doubled, about 45 min. Bake at 350 degrees 45 min.

This makes a very sticky dough. I add a little flour to make it less so, but you don't have to.

This next recipe I've made at home (it's DELICIOUS) and have addicted my brother and SIL on it. I will someday try it in a Dutch Oven. I think it would work good in the DO.
