Oh gosh, it is fun looking. I've looked at so many rigs that I could fill my yard with them. Some I discounted right away, too big, too small, not the right floor plaln, few minor things I didn't like, etc. There is a 1996 Fleetwood up the road for sale. Looks very well taken care of. Has 68,00 miles on her. But I don't want one with that many miles on it and it looks to be about 30 footer. Plus all posts I've made here and over on RVNet have said that unless I am mechanically inclined, I should stay with something in the no more than 10 years old range or be prepard to spend money on repairs. At the moment I'm narrowed down to three things, a van to convert to camper, a Springdale 5th wheel and a Rockwood Mini Light. Springdale would require a new truck though although the end of model year sales are on right now. But that plus trailer may go over my budget. But at least I'm that far along now. Summer is getting busier than I would like with work etc., I want to HIT THE ROAD! Can't wait till next year when I can go on SS and then my plans can start taking fruitation.

Welcome to the forum. I too pull an HHR and it's effortless but provides great storage. Make sure the hitch, etc are weighted properly, mine is 5000 lbs and is great because our car is only 3300 lbs. I've been full timing since December and don't miss a w/d. My rig is plumbed for one but I don't know what I would do with the stuff I have put in it's space. Ha. I would not ever have a rig w/out slides, IMHO. I like the extra room it provides. I'm not a tub person so it was no big deal.

Good questions. Enjoy.

Yes, Sunshine, I have been reading your blog. My friend Brenda who retired from MTMH told me about your new lifestyle. I think she secretly knew I'd be intrigued by the footloose life. I have one more year to teach then I'm on the road. I will be putting my house on the market this month (had it on the market earlier but pulled it after the flood). I have been swaying back and forth between a class c or trading in for a new truck and pulling a small trailer. Have to stay focused on selling the house first which is really hard when I'm dreaming of the open road. So keep traveling and blogging and keep my dream alive.

Just because it's been a few weeks since I posted to this thread, don't think I haven't been looking. I was in Alabama Saturday where I met up with BluePineCones, Jean, Bethers, and SunshineCruiser. We all went rv shopping in Huntsville which was fun though not rewarding. I did get to see a Safari Trek and I must admit it is an interesting concept. Well, only if I can find one in about a 24'. Today I went to look at a very sweet 22' B+ and it was immaculate. In fact, the guy who was selling it was so fastidious about how to operate everything I'm not sure he'll be able to part with it. It was so nicely put together and well maintained, but I knew it wasn't the one. Still I did look it over top to bottom and drove it around downtown Nashville (after 6pm). It handles tight but easy to drive. In the end I knew it wasn't right but - if it had a slide and if there was a ladder to the roof, I could have fallen in love. Still, seeing the ones you don't want just help to confirm my ideas about what I do want. I just hope the one I do fall in love with is as nicely maintained as that one.

On a brighter note on the homefront: we had a hard downpour this afternoon and finally I didn't have water in the basement! Only took me 3 tries to get it right.

If you haven't been to our get together room, I suggest you take a look - you'll find pictures of yourself :) Was great meeting you and hope to see you again - maybe on the road after you get your own home on wheels :)
