Sunday and it's still dark outside...Morning ????? yeah is it ???? Well, I had company yesterday..so did many other folks on the East Coast...A Windy Gal named Hanna...she sure did put out the crying towel...Lordy, it came down and even at times sideways...we got about 4 inch of rain in about an hour or so...Winds..were really gusty at times about 50 mph..guess she was saving her energy...but she sure did make it interesting..we did lose power for a bit..was ready to fire up the generator when lights came back on...We had taken down all the plants on the porch and locked the gates on the porch so they might stop some of the debris from hitting..and when you lose that power you hear every sound...she was grumbling..had the weather radio on battery..and even had my camping light in the house.. made sure I brought that in from the motor home..and even thought of Fernie's campfire :) yeah we were sitting around doing a virtual tour...LOL

Heard from Marslet (Sharlotte) she called me yesterday to ask if I would let you all know she's ok.. Her and Jim and "new baby" were up at the Lake..they didn't get too much damage at the lake a few branches down..but at their home..well, they lost power and of course lost everything in the frig...had some damage with their awning on house and few other things ..she said, "called the insurance company to put claim in and they told her they'd get to her in a few weeks"...LOL but all and all she said to say "Hey" and she and Jim and Emma were doing fine..!

Cedar I hope you didn't get too much damage and kept dry... also Liz, haven't heard from you but do understand where you are you need a long antenna to get from under them trees...:) Stay safe and please post if you can ...We do miss ya !!!

Olive Oil, (OO) I definitely thought of you and them slippers.. as we listened to those Tornado watches..and thought..ok I know OO is gonna just whiz on by... what would she be doing ....Both you and your hubby sure put in some tough schedules...I'm sure just sitting on your porch in MO..has got to be pure heaven...! Now OO... in this new house.. do you have a storm shelter ?

Avalen (Ava) Good topic.. Boon docking where you are ... Yes, to watch your TV off your batteries you do need an inverter I have one also.. and can even run my crock pot..but you have to watch how much power you do use.. Your frig (well some) will run on battery also and most all when boon docking have it on propane.. So you do have to fill them bottles..:) and yep the ole microwave don't kick in unless it has power via by land or by genny..LOL..more and more people have gone into putting solar panels up on their rigs ..especially the ones that do a lot of boondocking..I use to watch how they would be angled to gather up all that energy.. If you check out Tiago George he's got a neat setup.. I mainly boon docked at the dog shows..as we were always parked out in some field for the weekend.. so got use to how to not use too much .. too quickly and of course being summer during the day lots of times Genny had to run to keep things cool..and that gave me extra power for evening.. and yeah your water pump will run off your battery..and I only had it turned on when using..

Fernie... your campfire is still glowing.. and boy it was talked about in my house.. as DH and I sat around ..sometimes storms do have some good results.. you get to talk with each other instead of getting caught up in that Tube...and even play a few card games.. like around the campfire .. you get to tell them good ole stories...LOL brings people closer together...oh and yeah you even watch those flames change colors......keep it going..

Avalen (Ava) I want to give you a Hug first off the bat... and listen up.. this was an accident waiting to happen..unfortunately it was you... Thank God .. the little girl was not seriously hurt...and YOU now have to take care of YOU.. We all here are supportive of you.. and like Cedar said, "the School district is at fault" with that large amount of traffic and buses..surely they should have had a school guard there.. I know you've been beating yourself up on this.. and I and the rest of us would be doing the same thing.. My prayers are with you Ava.. you need to vent ..let it out.. we'll all listen..

Well I see the political issue of Sara Palin is still going on.. and yes, at least no one here is attacking anyone's intelligence or choice...Thank gawd for that... Yes, I feel she's very capable of doing a good job..however, who ever controls the houses creates much more havoc.. As far as her family goes.. I think that's her personal issue.. not ours.. as I'm sure this was from the time she made her decisions to enter public office was well thought out.. Her pregnant daughter.. like any other celebrity again is always in the lime light and on the news..day in and day out.....Imagine how Chelsy felt when her Daddy got caught with his zipper open..and lied about it under oath... and all the Headlines and New Bulletins.. You may think that's different but some how I don't... she had to live with that.. and also being in school... talk about Puhleeeze... At least Bristol might get loads of gifts via news media... the most famous birth of the century..... I can see them headlines.... and wonder was it in the back seat of a Ford !!! LOL had to put that in..cause I remember when I was younger .. much younger and the hype over the Drive ins... lots of back seat kids born era... ya all forget that one ? LOL

Ok, it's coffee time and I'm ready for it.. and it's still dark out eewwwwww... come on Sun open your eyes...

Echo.. you got yer cup...or mug... or jug... LOL come join me.. and that goes for all of you.. ya can come in and set a spell and say "Hello "....

Mtntophoundz .. (Mollie) good to hear your having a stay at home weekend...LOL

May your Adventures be Great Ones and your Journey be Safe

God Bless..... coffee is here !!!

Good morning to all!

Thanks for thinking about me Zeee,... but Hanna was only a suggestion here.

Image

All we had was heavy and dreary sky all day and a cool breeze. I hope there wasn't too much damage done for those of you closer to her. Now we have to watch Ike and see where he heads. This morning's projected path has it heading toward TX,... watch out Bethers!

Everyone stay safe!

well I'm up way too early, the clock said 3:11, so here I am an hour later and
on my third cup of coffee, not that I need it but its habit and I like the taste.
Will try to do a normal routine day today, laundry and cleaning and go to the
grocery store. Prayers for those dealing with Hanna and Ike and will keep up
on the news with that.
Hugs for everyone

Morning to All - Turned on my big computer this a.m. and got a flashing screen for a bit. Turned it off and back on and it is okay for now - Right now I'm on the laptop while I back up ALL my files on the PC. Taking no chances. I usually back up the end of every month but forgot to for August - maybe it was just trying to remind me. If it is a problem, I hope it is just the monitor...We drove around the area yesterday, I was trying to find a bead shop that sold seed beads - yah good luck. In Vegas there were 3 almost within walking distance. So guess today I'll let my fingers do the walking through the internet. It's Bills fault that I need beads - he built me a real neat bead holder for 100s of vials of beads - now I need to fill it. Right? Just like the book case he built. Later today we'll be glued to the TV watching the NASCAR races....GO KYLE!!! - funny we live right next to Columbus, IN Tony Stewarts home town, but I just can't get up any enthusiam for him. Days like this I really miss my son John, used to go to the stock car races with him when he was young. Also of all my boys he is the only one who was into NASCAR - kind of weird but his wife got a NASCAR urn for his ashes - He was a Dale Earnheart JR fan from the get go - so we always kidded about who won. Enough
Our motorhome is fixed - just a broken connection in the refrigerator - thank goodness. Thinking about going somewhere close next week. Got to use some of our 1000 time. And get everything back in it that we have forgotten - nothing like a trip to find out what we forgot.
Well the PC seems to be fine - will turn this off and see how it behaves.

Good Morning!! Beautiful morning here too.

I had set the alarm to let me sleep a little over a full 9hrs. It didn't happen. Dang bladder routine woke me up at 5:45 and as soon as I started moving around of course Shade got right in my face all excited. She has her morning routine too. ~sigh~ Dummy me I went to bed at 10 and had first set my alarm to go off after 7 1/2hrs and then I remembered that this morning was Sunday. Kelly and I don't have to go into work until noon so I reset the alarm to give myself some extra sleep. I was really looking forward to it too. :( We work today from noon until 9 tonight. Blech!

It's beautiful and peaceful out on the back stoop, I have spent more than a bit of time out there this morning. Of course it was pitch dark out there when I first took Shade out to do her morning thing. It sure does seem like the mornings have gone back to being dark at 5:30am again in a hurry this year. I'm not looking forward to Winter. I will enjoy the Fall season with all of it's colors and cooler temps but not the cold of Winter. But this morning just as day was breaking I could still hear the last of the night singers doing their very best to hold the daylight back while the first of the morning songsters where doing their very best singing a joyful welcome to the rebirth of morning. What a wonderful chorus. The air is cool and very still with fog laying all around. And while I could hear some traffic out on the highway it faded to nothing while I closed my eyes and focused on enjoying the chorus of morning singers joining in, adding to, blending and harmonizing with what was left to last of the night song. Sometimes I forget to take the time to hold still and simply enjoy the moment.

Like I said we have to be into work at noon today. But we are meeting up with 3 of the other ladies from work to have breakfast at Cracker Barrel at 10. It's a good time to meet up there and get a table. 10am is right between the first morning crowd and the out of church crowd. That place gets swamped when church lets out!!! That and Shoneys, good grief! :o There were 4 of us last time but I invited one other girl this time. She at first turned it down cause she said she didn't have the money to spare. Had to admit I did think fast for a change and gave her a funny look. Asked her who said anything about needing the money?? That Kelly and I were gonna buy her breakfast. I thought she was gonna cry. She doesn't have a very easy life or home life so this will be a big treat for her. She is the only one working in her family of 3, her son, while in main stream schooling is slightly special needs, her significant other is on SSI so her paycheck has to stretch a long way. We all like her, she is in her mid to late 30's and sweet hearted.

Next weekend is our weekend off. Depending on our money I am gonna try my darnedest to go camping. We have not been able to go even once this summer. Well except for the GTG over in Crossville TN, but we stayed in a camping cabin then. We both want to go for a weekend and actually camp. Don't know yet if we will go over into NC or down to Pigeon Forge? LOL Depending on money we or I might be putting up the tent in the back yard. But camp out I will.

Well I've flapped my fingers long enough, I think I will start getting around and dressed for the day. Opps! Yep, Kelly just stumbled out of her bedroom and into the bathroom so I guess I had better get it in gear. There goes the shower, my Kelly is the most sweetest thing in the morning. Happy, cheerful and loving. NOT! My Kelly is more along the lines of  in the mornings. hehehe

Hey Barbz, my coffee mug is raised in salute this morning to you and the rest of the sistahs. I've been working on my pot here and got it over half drained. What with drinking all of mine here and going to Cracker Barrel? I don't think I will need to worry about taking my travel mug to work. I'll be sloshing and running to the bathroom most of the work day. Which will be all to the good really. It will give me lots of mini breaks.

Hope everyone has glorious day today. Stay safe and stay dry.

Love to all

Morning all. We had lots of rain here, and there are leaves all over my back yard, so it was a little gusty too. But, we needed the rain and some of it soaked in. Bynum Run, just down below the house, was running fast yesterday and high in its banks, but didn't overflow. Today looks like it's going to be beautiful. Hope everyone is safe and dry. I'm working on my second cuppa tea and have some bacon in the oven. Waiting for GD to wake up and gt ready to face the day. She'll spend the day with her mother...well, from noon to dinner time. And today is a big day for her (if mom remembered to bring home her hair cutting tools) because GD is cutting her hair for "locks of love". I"m proud of her for wanting to do this, but am also very excited about the short hair that maybe she can take care of without so much of my help!!!

Hope ya'll have a great day.

Glad to hear that Marslet and family didn't have too much damage from the storm. I was wondering how she made out. Our local TV channels only talk about local towns and the weather channel only talks about New Orleans. We only had some tree limbs down. A couple from Abbeville went to Baton Rouge and were killed by a tree that fell on the house they were in. We don't know which way to run. I went to Alexandria but couldn't find a campground so went West. Gustav was predicted to make a turn to the West after it came on shore but went northwest through Alexandria and Shreveport. Where I was there was very little wind or rain.

We will be watching Ike and trying to guess which way to run.
