The Velcroed Cat

Postby Pooker » Mon May 24, 2010 9:46 am

I just returned from a delightful 4 days at the Chula Vista RV Resort, just south of San Diego. The complex is half marina and half RV park and the scenery is gorgeous. First two days the weather was perfect - even managed a pool visit. Third day overcast and coming home yesterday it was downright cold and windy. Flitter sailed through the wind like the duchess she thinks she is.

I went shopping with a bunch of gals on Friday. When I returned to the rig, I settled down with my book, glass of wine, and jazz on the satellite radio (thank you, Directv). Usually, Spike immediately climbs up to join me whenever I stretch out on the sofa. This time, she was staying up on the over cab bunk and trying to ignore me (like cats tend to do) even when I called her. I noticed her fidgeting out of the corner of my eye, so I got up to investigate. Yup! She was firmly glued to the velcro strap I use to keep my flat screen t.v. in place when driving. She had that velcro stuck from her shoulder to below her elbow and I'm here to say Velcro really works! I yanked it off like you would a bandaid and she gave me one of those cat looks that say, "I meant to do that!" and stalked off to the bed where she sulked for a few hours. I had to get my ladder out in order to climb up and untangle the twisted stap. Spike would have been mortified if she knew how the rest of my camping club laughed about her! Good thing it wasn't Pia with her long, thick angora fur! I've been using that strap for 3 years and this is the first time I caught a cat with it. I'll have to remember to always face the loop side down!

Awww, poor Spike, her mommy's putting traps out for her! I'm sorry Spike, but that is just to funny. Reminds me of the time my long hair Calico got both of her back feet and tail caught on one of those glue traps for mice. But that's a story for another time, don't want to take away from poor Spike's sympathy.

Spike, tell your Mommy she should take pictures of your mishaps like this one - so you could be immortalized!

Evie, I can picture this - too funny.

OH I bet that was one annoyed cat. Sorry Spike, but it was funny - to us anyway.

Poor baby. Bet that spot will not be as appealing in the future.
