SATURDAY, WARMISH, DAMPISH, AND WINDYISH!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SATURDAY, WARMISH, DAMPISH, AND WINDYISH!

GOOD SATURDAY MORNING TO US ALL!

It's not raining at the moment, but is misty and getting windy. The temperature is about 45, so that is a good thing for all the budding trees and shrubs. It appears as if the heavy freezes of this past week have been more devastating to my lilac leaves than to the buds themselves, but time will tell if they will turn black and drop off as they have in years gone by. I have my fingers crossed for some sweet-smelling lilac flowers.

After coffee and getting dressed, I will attempt to hitch up Hope----I've named my trailer Hope after Lily's bear cub----and head for the dealership to get my new, new tires installed this week. Nope, that isn't a typo----the tires that are on there now were installed last November, just before I parked it for the winter in a shelter on some boards. They have 40 miles on them, and two of them are so checked I will need to be very cautious on the roads today. Duro tires----NEVER use those if you can help it! I am getting Goodyear Marathon radials installed this week. I will miss Hope this week terribly, as I have been living in her for about a month now. Maybe I'll try setting up my new portable satellite dish for a TV and move into the old trailer for a few days!

I hope the weather will get better for those southern and mid-country states in the tornado belts. Baseball-sized hail that fell in TN yesterday looks HORRIBLE.

Still no news about the property in FL from my son and his future wife. I guess they are waiting for a better offer from the owners. It would be so great if they can get that property, as I could then park Hope there for this winter and live in my own house down there for this first year of retirement for me. With my truck camper and attachable tent, I could then explore the tons of FL campsites and pick out those most appealing to me to park my trailer off and on during the winter months. Next year, if I discover I can live on my fixed income, I can travel west to visit my family on that other coast! I feel the need to be close to family for this 'trial' year of retirement, in case I run out of funds and need some shelter and food! I mailed my notarized application for retirement to the NY State Teachers Retirement System yesterday afternoon, via certified mail. What a strange mixture of sheer terror and pure ecstacy I had as I dropped the letter in that mail slot! It occurs to me that I have the perfect family dispersal for being retired and seeing the country, however-----daughter up here where I will spend my springs, summers, and falls, son in FL for winters, and another daughter and granddaughter on the Pacific Coast for traveling and touring the country! I am lucky.

Coffee is hot---Hazlenut flavored with vanilla creamer---so come on in and let us know about your world. Wish me luck with my first haul with my new truck! Happy Saturday everybody!

Hi there….I probably should re-introduce myself! Just haven’t been in the posting mode…we had a long spell dreary cold rainy weather and it put me in a funk. :( Not much new around here…work and home. I did spend a couple of days at my friend’s greenhouse playing in the dirt. It always makes me feel good when she calls and reports that all my creations are gone and asks when am I coming back. I tend to make high end planters that sell for the big bucks…why not…I don’t have to pay for them! It was finally sunny yesterday so after work I planted a couple of my pots, vacuumed and de-winterized the camper and filled it with water. Had water coming through all the faucets except the hot water in the kitchen. DH played around with it for awhile and decided that we needed a new kitchen faucet. When I think back it was a little touchy last summer. Then I turned on the refrigerator and held my breath, but the thermometer in the freezer started dropping and was almost to 20* by the time I went to bed. Our 5er is a ’99 and was used as a full-time winter home for nine years so keep expecting it to bite the dust at anytime…did I ever mention that I’m a bit of a pessimist?

Yesterday was the last day of school in our area. Today we have several graduation parties we are suppose to attend. I promised a friend from work that I would go to her house at 2:00 to make platters etc..and just be there in case guest started showing up before they returned. Easy out…so I don’t have to sit through the graduation ceremony! ;)

Beth...hope your head isn't pounding today! Please tell Jean that I'm thinking of her often.

Soos..a trip from NY to the Pacific Coast could easily take you through South Dakota...there would always be room in our yard for you and Molly...and maybe a little of the recipe? I'd even start a fire in the pit for you...and move all the chairs! That invitation stands for anyone who is traveling our way.

Barbie...so happy to hear about your new job! Wonderful news and a big step toward your long-term goal!

Mitch and Vickie...when do start seeing pictures of your live sparring matches? Those poor little smilies will have chance to recuperate for a couple of days!

Have a great day everyone!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

I just finished mowing the yard. It takes me 2 hours on a riding lawn mower. Our yard isn't really that big, it's the hill that makes it hard to cut. It's too steep to go around, I have to go up and down. It's so dry and windy that I got covered in grass and dirt. I'm squeaky clean now, I've had 2 showers and a shampoo today. I sure hope we get some of the rain that's North of us.

Pat, you can make me a couple of planters. lol I look at the pots at Wal-Mart and think about making some. I can't plant things in the yard or they get sprayed with roundup except my rose bed. My DH is not allowed on that end of the house with his sprayer.

Around here the high schools have a locked down graduation party for the seniors to keep them from drinking and being on the road. They raise money all year to fund it. They play games and give out prizes and have activities all night to entertain them. It doesn't keep them from acting stupid other nights but we haven't lost a senior on graduation night in a long time.

Guess I better get moving. I have to go to the grocery store and I sure don't want to go.

I'm home again after a yummy breakfast/lunch of breakfast tacos with my DD. After we went shopping at funky jewelry side walk market. I got earrings that have turquoise on one side and black on the other, so are two in one! She purchased crazy cute necklace that includes a spent 22 casing as one of the charms. Oh I think you need to see that one to appreciate. ;) Now I'm going to straighten up and get out my machine for a couple sewing projects. Hems in pants for me and twirly dresses for my DGD. Wishing you all a fun day!

Well, I just finished cleaning house. :-( I can't wait to go full-time in my RV....much easier and quicker to clean.

Have a good evening, everyone.

The weather here was picture perfect today! Light breeze, very sunny and about 75 degrees :-) Had my first post-op shower and relished at having freshly-shampooed hair again! Spent the afternoon in a chair out on the front lawn with Nadja for company. Sarah was very busy riding bikes/playing with the neighborhood kids who stopped by to throw Nadja a ball or two, and then for lunch, Mrs. B made sandwiches for us to enjoy together on the porch.

Been spending the evening catching up with everyone via email. Very nice, and very relaxing day! :)

Kim, it's good to hear you're on the mend and things turned out better than expected. Now, you have lots of good things to look forward to - like preparing for your life in Tennessee! I always tell my Yankee friends to bring their passports cuz it's a different "country" down here!

Ha! It sure is a different country down there---and I'm sooo looking forward to getting back to it! ;-) Yes, definately in high gear again (well, my mind is; my body's still trying to get over the "what the heck!?" feeling about the surgery....but it will catch up soon, I'm sure ;-)

We're turning our entire trip down there into a full-blown, media saturated brain injury/service dog awareness campaign :-) Give me more than 24 hrs rest, and inevitably, I'll come up with another program, compaign or some other such thing!

You are one amazing lady, Kim, and I am so proud to know you! I can't WAIT to meet you in person on the roads somewhere! TN is not that far from me, now that, after June, I won't have a work schedule I will have to stick to!

I am so relieved to hear that both you and the 4-footers are better and feeling like doing stuff again! Perhaps you can also turn your sick dog experience into some sort of money recompense, as, after all, they are a major source of your life's profession? If it can be done, I am sure you will do it!
