It sounds as if the Adirondacks is not the only place suffering from weird, uncommonly cold weather after that warm spell that opened up so many blossoms. Silent Spring comes to my mind.

I just put Molly out, and it felt warmer out there, but I see that my thermometer says it's about 20 degrees! So much for my lilacs, and I am thinking the blueberries, too. Sob! Some of the teachers at school had already put in their gardens----poor them! But the destruction of the food crops like blueberries, service berries, cherries, and more will be very devastating for the survival of many animals this fall.

My wood fire in here kept me nice and warm all night long. I hope my LCD TVs in the trailer will be ok in this cold----anyone know anything about that? I know old TVs were just fine out in the barn all winter, but I have my doubts about the newer LCD ones.

We made it through one day at school with no assaults by the kids in my room. The kid who was suspended for 5 days realizes that he is treading on precarious ground if he shows any hostility toward anybody. The one who was assaulted had best keep his taunting remarks to himself, as well.

My obese girl was having an anxious day as she dreamed she died, which put her into a depressed, crying jag mood, with recurring panic attacks all day. So much for her getting any work done, let alone learning anything about how to some day become independent enough to wash her own hair! I am witnessing a person with a good, relatively intelligent mind, trapped in a fat body and bombarded with psychological phenomena that cause her to take so many medicines that she is becoming more and more like Jaba the Hutt from some movie I saw when my kids used to watch it. And I am supposed to be making a difference in her life? (I will say that my making her get out of her chair and walk around school more has allowed her to lose 19 pounds since September, and I guess I should be ecstatic about that.) If nothing else, this year has taught me to be more patient and watch for the teensiest pluses in life.

Coffee is hot, so stop in and write us a line or two about what's going on wherever you may be. I hope nobody was in Kansas or OK yesterday, as I guess multi tornadoes touched down there. (Does the plural of tornado have an 'es or just an 's'???) Not enough time for me to check it out this morning, but I never know!

Good morning everyone. I awoke to news stories about the severe weather moving across the Midwest. Am hoping all of our Forum Sisters & their loved ones are safe, sheltered & dry.

I'm scheduled to report for my state park volunteer gig tomorrow. But to be honest, I'm really not ready to be up there while it's so c-c-c-cold. The weather is rainy & cold down here and snowy there at 6100 feet elevation. The high tomorrow is supposed to be 44 there & snowy, with lows in the high 20s. My RV, however, IS on site.

There is an orientation up there on Wednesday and that's the day the ranger wants all the volunteers to move in. I checked the on-line reservation system and only two adjoining sites in my loop are reserved for Friday night. So I sent an email to the park manager last night and told her that while I will come up for orientation, I plan to delay my start until this weekend, when the weather is forecast to warm up considerably.

Kiwi's looking much better this morning. The swelling on her face is waaaay down and she's much sassier. She was such a ragamuffin that every time she has laid down next to me these past few days I have used hair shears to trim off the bulk of her coat. I admit it's choppy & she has quite a bit of matting, so parts of her feel a bit like a sheep. But even with that, she still looks much cuter. When the weather is reliably warm I'll give her a neat, short cut.

Good-morning !!! Our day looks a little gloomy outside, not sure what our weather is going to be. Gosh, Soos, you sound like you're in winter again up there. You too, Janice, seems to be across the top of our country. Our weather everywhere seems to be a real mess. Tornados and their destruction is what upsets me the most. I've always been afraid of them, as they can just drop out of no where at times. Hurricanes if you are wise, you have time to prepare for.

Not sure what is on the agenda here today. I have a problem with my car, but I have a mechanic for a neighbor and he was over with his thingy(alright ladies, I reread this and I know I must say the machine that tells you what is wrong with an engine motor) last night to see what my problem was, seems I need a part that has to do with air flow, hopefully he will fix it. Always seems to be something, so I won't worry about it, if it won't go, I have the r.v., it will take me wherever I want to go too. Sure do wish it could take me where I REALLY want to go, somewhere away from all these chores , dr. visits, and just everyday responisiblitlies

I have some catching up to do on here to see what you all have been up too. Looks like a nice day to set here and have a real visit with my friends on here

Good morning from Front Royal, VA. It was cool and sunny when we arrived yesterday, planning to go to DC today. But since today's forecast is cold and rainy, we will wait til tomorrow when it will be less rainy So instead, tGM has planned a variety of places to visit, 2 gardens, Stonewall Jackson's museum, 2 wineries and then the grocery store. Soos, after this year it will be your choice of what weather to live with and Jancie, nice to know you can Getupngo when you want. Carol, you never know what might turn up on your "agenda". Good morning all, it warmed up here during the night and the wind has come up looking like rain.

Has anyone heard from Carol (asirimarco) I haven't seen her post lately and hope all is ok. Maybe she is planning their nest trip.

Not much going on here today, I or I should say we the little dogs love to 'help' ,vacuumed and cleaned yesterday so feeling lazy today. Looking forward to seeing my friend's new grandson tomorrow! He's making his first visit to Grandmas house. I remember when his mother was born, where does the time go!?!?

Good Morning...

I was back on the phone trying to fix the specialist appt. We thought we had it all fixed yesterday. The specialist office was going to call the Tricare contracting office and the authorization office and get it all fixed. I was so excited when I logged into the email this am..and see that a authorization has been updated for Kodie. YEAH!!

The excitement was not long lived. They changed it all right...they removed the DR's name and made it for Children Endocrinology Clinic???? Sorry that is not fixing the issue...why should I drive 95 miles when I can drive 15 miles. (they only cover travel if it is over 100 miles). Besides...I loathe Seattle traffic to begin with.

So back on the phone...I mean really he became re-contracted for a reason...continuity of care...ring a bell there Tricare.
They need to not test me again...because they will lose this battle...I have no issue whatsoever of moving on up the chain. I have called and had the Congressman involved in the past and I have no problems going there again. My friends...joke...that Tricare just needs to put a note on my file " Approve it...she will not go away". I can easily become their worst nightmare. I think when they contract is back up for bid...I need to talk with those military folks on how they need to find someone who puts people first and not the $$$.

Other then that...it is a nice day here!! Looking like it will be a nice week. The yard for the most part is all cleaned up from winter. We still have some planting to get done, but I need to get some more top soil to mix with the dirt I have..so the plants get a nice start.

Thinking about camping...??? I have no idea where yet..just itching to get that first spring trip done. We usually camp at Beachwood..it is close to home. We can get things all set for the summer.

Me...after a series of medical tests, finally have some answers. CT scan at Moffitt showed no cancer but found a blocked subclavian artery. Stress test tomorrow to see if anything else shows up. Yep, need a stent. Week from Friday. Keep me in your prayers. Once it's over I should feel like 21 again.

Afternoon ladies. Boy did we have a stressful evening. We were on tornado watch until 10 PM, thankfully nothing came into our immediate area (SW Tulsa area). All the action was north or south of us. I feel for those that encountered that group of tornadoes. We are supposed to have some more severe weather tonight. Hoping it is just T-storms, nothing more. The I-40 corridor is the one to watch, it seems to attract tornadoes like trailer parks. My niece and I were running around yesterday getting things into safe places just in case. Think I'll leave the stuff where it is until later in the week, just to be safe. We do not have a basement here, so it all goes into the hall closet and bathrooms. As with hurricanes, better to be prepared and not need to be, then not be prepared and have to be. Putting everything back is just a mild inconvenience, but very worth it.

Barbie, good luck with the interview. Soos, find that turn off valve for winter weather, after this winter you need some spring. Liz, good luck with your surgery. Linda

Breathing a huge sigh of relief here for you, Liz, as I have been reading between the lines of your most recent posts and was getting scared. You said in one of them, "if I am here next year" as a passing comment, and it scared the pootie out of me! I was fearing the big C had returned. A clogged artery is nothing to sneeze at, but can be fixed so much easier than cancer cells gone wild. I suspect I will be facing many of these 'stent' repairs down the line, also, as I have had high cholesterol levels accompanied by high blood pressure for years and years. I hope my docotrs will be as astute and thorough as yours have been for you. Did you have pain under your collarbone, or how did you suspect anything was wrong?

Please keep us updated as you go through your 'repairs.' You have the thin body of an athlete, and it's hard to believe you have any clogs in your arteries! Lord only knows what mine must look like.

Kristy-----CONGRATS to you for dogging the systems and getting what Kodie needs and what you need to make helping her possible! Sic 'em!

Linda, maybe you need to think about building a root cellar/tornado shelter somewhere? Please keep a watchful eye to the sky, as it seems you are doing, and be prepared to seek adequate shelter somewhere. I will take my frost and snow and cold any day over those danged twisters.

Happy to hear about Kiwi's improvement! Swelling going down is a fantastic sign of healing.

Carolina Carol-----from another post, I KNOW you don't REMEMBER anything about your latest 'procedure'----but I sure do wish I could have seen what you were doing when it was going on! The drug they give is an amnesiac, so you can't remember sh&#! I am just worried about what I might do while it is happening, that I won't remember doing! (Picture a wild-eyed, half naked woman running through the parking lot with a hose hanging out her butt, and there you have me!)

Still nice out now...and 55 degrees, so Molly and I are hitting the trails for a walk. Fun to read all these posts!

Soos, I asked the nurse, what the drug does to you, as I didn't want to let out secrets or do something foolish either. She looked me right in the eye and said no we only moan or something, nothing ever interesting and it was quite boring. I wanted to believe her so I did. Its over and what a relief. If they got an ear full of some of my gibberish or whatever, thats alright with me. I can always plead innocence The main thing, there is no reason not to do it. Liz, kicked my butt, maybe I ought to sic her on you!!!!

Need to get it out of the way, so you can hit the road, free and clear of all bothersome thoughts. You too, Wicked !!!

Janice, I had to laugh at your reluctance to head for your volunteer job with the cold expected there. I've been working in a state park for 14 summers and have been out in snow, sleet, rain, wind, Tstorms, sun, heat, cold etc. and I'm still here. But I do agaree it isn't always pleasant. Some days even layers aren't warm enough. And because my work is outdoors, there are days when we have to call it quits and go home cause of weather. Unless we have some indoor work to keep us busy for a few hours. But the difference is you are volunteer and I'm paid, so I have to be there. Right now like everybody else along the northern states, it's been cold. We've had belwo freezing temps and snow as well. I too feel my lilacs are gone and I'm not sure about my apple trees. They were starting to blossom when the cold and frost hit. Guess that's price we pay for having an early spring warm spell these past couple of months.
I'm glad I don't live in areas where tornadoes are a problem. Guess those of us who live up north and only have to contend with cold spells, snow and a few other weather related problems shouldn't have anything to complain about. I read somewhere that OK,KS, AR and that area of the country has the most violent weather in the world. But we don't have a choice in where we are born. We either live with it or leave or sometimes circumstances put us there.
