RAINY THURSDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

RAINY THURSDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Thu May 06, 2010 4:22 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

The cooler weather is on the way along with the rain that's falling this morning. We didn't get the thundershowers they said we might have last night, but it rained most of the early morning. Temperature is about 50 degrees and dropping. I heard mention of the word "snow" for us here in the higher elevations for the weekend days.....that I can do without!

Still no news from the RV dealer about my Goodyear tires arriving, so I guess I won't have to hook up in the rain and haul to them this weekend. (And I don't care when/if the Duro tires EVER show up!) OK by me, as I have an 80th birthday party to attend on Saturday, with live country music! I will pack my truck camper so as to be comfy if I decide to stay over until Mother's Day Sunday. It's only about 12 or 13 miles from me, but if I get to sipping any Recipe, I will stay put!

My name was on the agenda for the school board meeting last night, so today the entire faculty will know about my retirement. I have seen entire faculties come and go over the many years I have been with the school. A couple of other teaching assistants whom I have known forever and worked with also put in their letters of retirement. They asked me if I wished to attend the retirement dinner in June, but I declined. I went to only one of those for a principal whom I dearly loved, and never attended another one. I don't like that kind of thing, as I get too emotional and tend to weep and make an a&& of myself! I told them I just wanted to slip away, like Bobby McGee!

The doc decided to have me take 5,000 usp units of Vitamin D each day to try to help with my bone loss/rebuilding. That's a lot, but most of us up in this lattitude lack enough sunlight to make enough of that vitamin to ensure healthy bones. I will give it a try along with my calcium and Fossamax, and look for another improvement in a couple of years.

School is winding down pretty fast now that my paydays are numbered! I will get all the info together I need to apply to NY State Retirement now and get that out of the way so I will be paid in a timely fashion. I am used to not getting any checks in the summer months, anyway, so it will not be much of a shock until September arrives! But I should begin to receive my retirement checks over the summer, so it will seem like a bonus to me!

Coffee is hot, so stop by and tell us about your day and your plans. Have a happy Thursday!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

We are parked at Holly Point campground in Wake Forest. Enjoying our time with the gks and getting the MH ready for our months out on the road. The older ones are busy with school and rehearsing for a play this Friday night, so we don't spend much time with them. The original plan was to go to the Maritimes, but we've been warned not to arrive too early unless we want winter weather. So we will adjust our plans and who knows where we might end up-could even be Alaska  OK, tGM is ready to go to their house-he's volunteered to do some work there-so everyone have a great day. carold

It is an absolutely beautiful morning here. Lovely breeze, cool but not cold, no humidity, no mosquitoes yet....we only get a few of these perfect days but they are so welcome and make me feel grateful.

Hi travel pals! I'm leaving in a few minutes for Balcones Canyonlands Wildlife Refuge for a couple days. The 'painted bunting' is in the area and I would LOVE to see this gorgeous bird. IF I am lucky enough to see it and get a snap I will post!

My email account got 'hacked' from China causing me worry about a possible virus, but it's all clean. Random people in my contracts got a 'shopping' kind of email, others got one about wildlife pics linked to same shopping site. I hope none of my friends here got one, but if you did, please just delete! The lesson learned is to change my passwords more often.

Oh Soos! the news is out of the bag now! It will be so much fun to get the good wishes from all your friends and co-workers. I know that last week for me was one I will remember forever. The news that I was leaving changed the playing field somehow and allowed conversations that didn't usually happen in the work place. Anyway...my BEST to you!

I watched my DGD last night for a few hours. We went for a short walk to the local health food store for an ice cream. That was just the sweetest thing. The first of many more to come. :)

OK, I'm going to give my van a quick wash and hit the road! Have a fun day where ever you are!

Good-morning !!! Well, there is 30 mins. left of it as of right now. I'm doing my very best here to boost the economy of our country. So far this month, I have had to have my heater fixed, more plumbing done (major part was done in Jan.) and the phone guy just left !! Plus the electric guy came to paint area in my yard where their line is, because the phone co., when they installed my service years ago, never buried all of the line properly, I have complained each time I have had to have a service person come. Afraid my mowing person during my trip time, will cut it. Yeah !!!!!, I have finally been heard and the phone company plans to bury my line and informed the electric co. etc. etc. Now they are not here yet, be 10- 12 days, I was told. Sooooo we are certainly not holding our breathe here !!! Its been 11 years , so I will believe it when I see it. Really not being cynical, even though may sound like it, just stating facts. :) On top of this I willingly involved myself in another debt, having tractor work done in my yard. So the economy , with my help, should be getting fixed, at least in this area :) I am a very patriotic person , you see :?: :? 8-)

Beautiful day here, but already too warm for me. Need to mow, but will wait until later in the day. So much left to do outside yet, having tractors out back clearing brush, made almost more of a mess then it was. If I can get it all done, it will really be nice. Plenty of chores in the house, where the a/c is ;) :D So we won't think of all of that stuff out there :)

Soos, did you say snow? Sounds like your temps, are going up and down. If there can't be a happy medium, then hey, I think snow one day then 80 degrees the next would be nice. Warm up, but then cool down from being too hot :) :D  ;) I think thats good logic, ok, please don't put a straight jacket on me, I hate being confined
Actually, my whole morning greeting, could be suspect. Aren't you all glad, you don't live near by?

Hope you all have a super great day, as for me, I am going to do my best to leave the economy alone, gosh sure hope I don't have to help it along anymore today!!!!

Safe and Happy travels,
Carol

Morning...
Wow looking like a rain free day!!!. It is cooler out, but blue skies. Which I am glad. I have plants sitting on the picnic table..waiting for a nice day to go out and get them planted. They are shade and "deer" proof. I hope anyway. I want plants and do not want to have to fence them in to keep the deer out. I am hoping that these are deer proof as the tag claims.

We also go one of those hanging strawberry thingees..to hang on the rear deck...it is a upper level deck..so the deer can't get to them. If this works this year, we may add a tomato one next year. I am hoping to be able to have an upper deck garden. So we will see how things go. We have the yard space for it, but I would have to fence it in.

Things are going well and we are keeping busy with Baseball and soccer.

Oh, Diana, I would love to see that bird. I hope you do get a great viewing, and hope even more you get a picture for us.

Morning all - have a great day - nice here in Huntsville, but being back in the southeast, I'm remembering how much I HATE TICKS. Good thing Peaches medications work - now if they would stay off ME. I'm about to ask if they have a monthly med I can spread on MY back! LOL

Afternoon all. Going to be about 90 today and sunny. I'm going to copy Carolinagal and stay inside with the AC. Spent most of the morning applying Benadryl cream to one of the little puppies' underbelly. He has really been scratching so much he has raw spots. I have also put on the booties to stop him from scratching. Does he ever hate them, he's wiping his feet (like non a rug) to try and get them off. :D There is something in the grass that is bothering him. I'm glad the neighbor cut it yesterday as it should help.

Soos, snow again? Isn't there some kind of winter weather cut off date in the Daks? I think Carolinagal's idea sounds more like hot flashes to me?

Take care and travel safely. Linda

I know it is way too late for posting here, but gonna anyways! Soos, you are not alone! They are predicting snow here tomorrow too!! Yuck!! We haven't seen any snow here since February and now we are getting snow in May!?? Hopefully not much more than flurries tho!

Here's a helpful hint for keeping bunnies and deer out of your gardens: scatter hair (yes human hair) around on the ground and that will keep them away. You can get the hair from any local barber or beauty shop.

Tomorrow is my interview for the Great Clips job. I called some of the gals I used to work with at the other GC's and they were all very willing to give me a great referral! Even the assistant manager (good friend of mine) said to put her name down instead of the managers name (I left due to a personality conflict with manager) on my resume. I even located a previous manager who will be a great reference! So hopefully I will get this job! Everyone agreed that it would help a lot in being able to get into a Great Clips in California, if I am working at one here. I really loved my job there until the new owner and manager took over.

I am feeling better now too! My cold seems to be going away now, but still don't have much energy.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

It is late, but like Barbie, will post anyway. I had a great day! It was my first day working solo and it went well. I also got a lot done around Myrtle. I changed my porch light, installed my new smoke detector, moved my thermometer to a shady spot, added a coupler to my sewer line, increased my water pressure by removing my pressure regulator, and vacuumed. The biggest thing I did today was put mulch around my hostas using my big work dust pan. I don't have garden tools anymore so improvised. It was a workout! I mentioned to my boss, Steve, the other day that I wanted to get some mulch to make it look nice around the hostas and he said there's a huge pile of chipped wood over by the construction near them. I came home from NE last night and there was a pile on my site :D I could use a little more, but it covered a pretty good sized area. I pulled weeds too, before putting down the mulch, so I'm sure I will be sore, but it looks so nice :D :D :D I felt exhausted after supper so took a little nap. Hope I can get to sleep  I took Rags with my on my afternoon rounds and again tonight to lock up the comfort stations and front gate. I like his companionship and I feel more at ease having him with me. He's a good dog. He kept me company while I was out doing the yard work, too. I had to brush the mulch out of his hair when we came in

Well, I better get to bed. Have to get up by alarm these days until I'm used to getting up early again.
