IT IS DONE!!

Postby Nasoosie » Mon May 03, 2010 2:34 pm

It's signed, sealed, and delivered, as of 3:00 this afternoon!

<<<snip>>>>>>Please accept this notification of my intent to retire effective June 30, 2010 as required in Article XXX of the current collective bargaining agreement between the district and the Saranac Lake Teachers Association, and in conjunction with Article XXIX (A) (3) and the MOA signed on April 20, 2010.

I appreciate all of the experiences I have had while employed by Saranac Lake School, and I will miss the students and faculty very much. I do plan to register as a substitute teacher, and keep my fingers in the educational field. This school has played a major role in my adult life, and I thank all of you for making my career challenging and rewarding.

Sincerely yours,
Snip>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So it is done!

Happy travels!

Congratulations on your decision. I know that being in the classroom is "challenging" at times but I also know that you affected so many children in your career. And I know that they thank you. And I do also. While this year has been challenging, please know that you made a big difference in those students lives that you touch every day and isn't that why you are a teacher. Being an educator is love of the heart and a passion to help and I hope that you remember that love as you remember your students.

This week is teacher appreciation week in Virginia. And the Seniors gave everyone in the high school a post-it note to give to students to thank a teacher. Every teacher's door had notes of thank you and some with special messages. It was a nice celebration for us both.

I know that you are graduating to new adventures and I feel that you will always be that teacher and share - maybe not in a traditional classroom but I can see that still in your future. I wish you much happiness in your future. And some warmth also...especially after viewing some pictures from your side of the mountain in the winter and early spring.

I have to tell you that I am no city girl but you beat me all around taking care of your place. Again happy thoughts and I will continue to enjoy your posts.

I'm sure you had some mixed feelings when you handed it in. It's been 12 years since I left the classroom because I just didn't enjoy teaching anymore....but it was still hard to write that letter of resignation and submit it to the board of education. I still say kids really haven't changed that all that much...but parenting skills sure have.

Yahoo! So glad you don't need to agonize over the decision any longer. You can be proud of all you have accomplished in the lives of your students....they may come back to seek you out someday. I can't believe how many of my old (yes, old) students have found me on Facebook recently. It's heartwarming to see that they are leading successful lives.

Congrats. I'm sure you are going to miss the faculty you worked with and all the other school personnel. I know even though I haven't worked in a school for over 30 years, I always remember having to leave "up north" to head home to get ready for the school year again. You are going to enjoy retirement, subbing, traving, keeping up with this bunch and all kind of good things. Thank you for the job you did.

I know that was a tough decision you were struggling with for quite awhile (since I've been on here), so I am sure it is a little bittersweet, but you knew in your heart that it was time to move on. Here's hoping for great adventures, great friends and great memories!

Congratulations Soos. It will be an adjustment but you are woman enough to do it. :) I can't imagine you running out of things you want to do and get accomplished. For some of us who have been teacher, we will always be a "teacher"...I think it is a way of seeing the world, being in the world and believing in possibilities.....the places and the curriculum changes though! And you get to decide what else you might want to be when you continue growing.... (since I decided long ago not to grow up...where is the fun in that!)

Congrats, Soos. Now that the decision is not only made, but carried out - you can get on with other things (including the bittersweet feelings you'll have at the end of the school year when you realize you're saying goodbye for good).

You have a whole new chapter in your life ahead of you. Enjoy it!
