WARM MONDAY IN MAY

GOOD MONDAY MORNING!

Temperature is a balmy 57 degrees this morning! I slept with the windows open in the trailer for the first time this year! And we were lucky enough to not get the thunderstorms they predicted for us last night, so Molly and I are happy campers this morning. Last night was the first night for spring peepers, and I could actually hear them down at the pond from up here in the trailer. That special sound has been one of my most favorites in the world, and it is very short-lived, occurring only in the early spring during mating season for those little tree frogs. I would love to spend this upcoming weekend down there in the leanto, listening to them all night long. That will be my something to look forward to this week.

Another week begins today---the first one in May. The flooding in TN is frightening as I see the morning news. They are saying that things are abating there, thank heavens. Enough deaths have happened already in those waters. I hope all who are in those areas are finding dry land, and dry land away from tondadoes. Please check in with us if you are out and about on the roads. I am happy to be high and dry in the Adirondacks this morning.

I need to take a bath and get ready for another tense week of shrieking tantrums from the room next to our room at school. Also, one of my own students was arrested Friday at the end of the day, and I am very much afraid his grandmother might send him to a special school we have up here for violent kids and kids who cannot seem to control their anger. After talking to my daughter about it, who knows the school better than do I, she thinks it might not be such a bad idea for him as he will never be alone there to be able to get out of control and injure someone as he did on Friday. He will also receive concentrated psychiatric help on anger management techniques, and more. But we shall see what will happen from here. My obese, pre-diabetic girl might be back this week, if they managed to get her strep infection under control. Finals week is looming, as is the prom and graduation. Amazingly, I very much doubt I will miss any of this next year!

3:15 AM here in the rainy PNW! It started pouring about 30 mins. ago. They had predicted high winds, too, but I don't hear it blowing out there. Fine by me. I also heard that our temps might not reach 50 today and that will set another record daytime low.
I'm about to try going back to bed. I have tried twice already but my dog is still not feeling well and wants out to eat grass, then throws up. I sure wish I knew what was up with him. Other than that he seems ok. Still eats and drinks and plays.
Glad your peepers are back, Soos. Their croaking reminds me of scary movies. You know how you hear them, but when they stop making noise that means something scary is about to happen? When I walk my dog on the wetlands it's the same. They stop as soon as I get near.
Well, my eyes are crossing so I'm going to give sleep another shot.

Since I double posted this morning I thought I'd use the space for an update on my dog, Choco.
I called the vet and she wanted to see him. He has put on another lb., up to 16.6 now, lol. His temp was normal, which I figured. She looked at his gums etc and said that he wasn't dehydrated so that was good. Then she probed his tummy for quite some time. As he didn't resist any of her pushing she figured he's not hurting anywhere. So for right now he's NPO (nil per os: nothing by mouth except his meds). He gets a dose of Pepto Bismol 4-6 Xs a day. She gave him an injection of fluids and then said not to give him any food or water for 24 hrs so his tummy can settle. If he has to go out, I have to go with him and not let him eat any grass. So far since I've been home all he's done is sleep on my lap. I'm sure as soon as I lay down to try to get in some rest he'll then want out. My only saving grace is that it's stormy outside. The wind is blowing rain and small hail sideways and he's a 'fair weather' dog and can hold his pee for almost a whole day if it's raining hard. So that's the update. If he starts vomiting again I have go bring him in and she'll probably do an xray of his tummy.

Bright and sunny here this morning and all the dust I missed last week is showing! Soos, it is too bad your last year in the classroom had to be such a unhappy year. I know I couldn't stand that environment of anger and frustration. A friend of my is an aide at a public school and I am shocked at how many children in kindergarten and first grade are sent to special rooms, or actually expelled because their behavior is so bad. Oh and even if they are expelled sometimes the parents drop them off anyway and then won't answer the phone! Every year the numbers increase of children needing help. I don't ever remember a child hitting or kicking a teacher or even hearing about it when I went to school. I wonder how many college students change their majors once they do their practice teaching!
I hope the storms are over for awhile and my heart goes out to those who were in the path. We were lucky here this time.

HELLO SISTAHS!!

Yeah I'm late again and the coffee pot is empty. I drank every drop! ahhhhhhh

Loving the motel life for now. But will be glad to get back up to the Lodge and go to work. This life of leisure can sure get boring.

We actually did look for jobs over the winter. But I'll be honest and say that while we found a couple we didn't take them. I am danged if I was gonna go to work and earn less than what I was making on unemployment. Wasn't gonna cut my own throat and live on less money. That's the other reason we really want an RV for this coming winter season. We would really rather have jobs and work and not sit on our butts doing nothing.

Heard from Fernie. She's doing good and is now back home in TN. Said she has her reasons for not posting so we will leave it at that. It was really great to hear from her, to find that she's doing good and is safe and sound in TN. She has not had any of the flooding at her place just some rain. But be sure to keep the rest of the area in your prayers, they could really use them.

Kelly is awake for the second time now. She was awake and up earlier for quite a while but went back to sleep, said she needed a nap. Dummy kid stayed up till the wee hours playing online. So I set to start nagging at her to get around so we can go do laundry and get that chore over with. She also needs to call her stylist and get an appointment for a hair cut before we go to the Lodge. Guess I will get mine cut to, it's looking mighty shaggy. Get it whacked off and Shade will have longer hair that either Kelly or I. That's the other thing I need to do. Brush Shade out good and give her a bath. Wash all the crud and sand off and out of her. She's beginning to smell like a "dog". And seeing as how she sleeps on the other pillow on the bed? Yep she needs a bath!

Other than that? Nothing much going on and NO wild wind storms. I'm loving it.

If one of my children would have hit or kicked a teacher there would have been holy hell to pay at home!

So you could make an additional $200 per month without it affecting your unemployement. That is, if the state you are getting your benefits from does that. You might want to check into that. Every little bit helps!

We had one set a fire in a bathroom trash can today -- good for 20 min. outside and lots of questions from my kids. Fortunately they were good and contained themselves well when we got back inside. The kid who set it is in a foster home and making everyone's lives miserable. With his little trick he'll be making another school's lives miserable now. Hard to feel sorry for a kid who just doesn't give a rip about anyone or anybody.

Other than that it's been a warm, sunny day. Shorts will be my new school uniform until the end of the year now.

I would imagine that no one has ever given a rip about him either and that is why he is in foster care and acting out to get attention. If they can't get positive attention from anyone, they will get negative attention instead. Kids learn love and compassion at home, but many kids don't get that at home, so they don't know how to give it either. I feel sorry for him.

Worked this morning, then drove to Lincoln, NE to spend a couple of nights with my DD and her family. My oldest GD has a concert tomorrow night. Left Rags with his daddy and Gizmo so he was very happy Have enjoyed seeing everyone again! The kids have grown and changing. The girls want me to have lunch with them at school tomorrow so will have to do that. I have done that a couple of times when I came and they were in school so they have come to expect it. Sometimes I visit their class, too, and participate if they want. I like going I used to volunteer at school when my kids were little and always enjoyed it. I showed my DD and the kids my pictures of the mini golf course I went to with Barbie and they loved them! My DD's fiance set up my phone so I can use it for internet on my computer...I am so excited I haven't really got to use my new laptop much since I haven't had internet access. He's going to put some cool applications on my phone tomorrow night

Well, going to try watching a movie with Holly. Bet I fall asleep

Well the jobs that we found wanted us to work every day for only a few hours each day. More or less as fill-ins. That would have totally screwed things up for us so we took a pass on them. We are so hoping that we can find winter jobs this coming winter season. Sitting on your butt is nice for a little while but sure gets old quick. I really am not one to sit and do nothing much. Longest I've ever been off/out of work was 10 months and that was only because it started out that way because I had med problems and then surgery. Gads was I glad to be able to get back out working and out of the house! I was getting a horrible case of "cabin fever". LOL Grumbly and snapping everyone's head off.

Echo...Good luck on the job hunt! I will be looking for my winter work, also. So glad I got my summer job! I think my bosses will bid on the contract this fall again if I want to come back to work next summer. My soon to be DXH is helping me for the summer, but am already thinking I will be looking for someone else to help me on the weekends next summer. I would bid on the contract, but they are 3 yr contracts and I don't think I want the responsibility yet. Barbie and I are planning to travel to southern CA together this fall, so she will be job hunting, also. Where are you spending your summer?

We will be working at Kaibab Lodge again this summer. It's 18mls from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
