SUNNY WARM SUNDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SUNNY WARM SUNDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Sun May 02, 2010 8:15 am

GOOD LATE MORNING TO US ALL!

Holy Cow-----it's rare that I sleep after daylight, and here it is 8:30! The sun is out, so far, and the temperature is a VERY humid 56 degrees! Supposed to get thundershowers today, however, and I never look forward to those!

My daughter, Mandy, spent the day with me yesterday, and we had one of the neatest days I can remember. We walked and talked and walked and debated and walked and tried to solve the troubles of the world and walked some more! It was so good to have her with me for so long in an unhurried amount of time! She is most certainly one of my most favorite people in this world. Her exams at her college are over, and she has tons of grading and reading to do, so it was a good break for her, too. She helped me lift that heavy canoe into the pond, without having to drag it, so I could paddle out and unclog the overflow pipe which had a lot of beaver-chew debris on it----it's a wonder I didn't get sucked down the drain when I freed it up!

We discussed her plan for getting family together with an estate lawyer (she has a grad student at school who is majoring in this field who has volunteered to come and sit with us and help us out----steer us in the right direction----so that was very good to hear. We need, as a family and future family members, to deal with land titles, wills, trusts, power of attorney, and more. I will be very glad to have these legal things over and done with.

We discussed possible uses for this property down the line, such as a family wilderness campground, or a luxury camp (after getting some major work on the log cabin at the pond) dealing with very wealthy city-dwellers who might be willing to pay big bucks to have a true "Adirondack wilderness experience" with a cabin at the pond to stay in with meals , chosen by them, cooked by a real chef, laundry service, etc. etc. while they hike and climb our mountains and visit our native attractions. And on and on our discussions went! It gives me real pleasure to know that my kids are so appreciative of their 'inheritance' which is land, not money. All I need is a little space for me and Molly and enough money coming in to eat and stay warm or cool, as the case may be! I can live in my leanto for all summer long and be in heaven!

Alice, I cannot BELIEVE your rig is needing even more shop work! I am thinking you really might be jinxed! But, as you said, camping in it at the lot might be a viable option, and will help Abby start to think of it as 'home', too. Keep us udated as you ride herd on the repairers!

I have a cookout to attend today at Mandy's boyfriend's (Joe) mother's house this afternoon, so that should be a good time. Joe used to be a student of mine, and his sister, too. Many friends of theirs will be there, also, and they were all my students over the years. I like to catch up on their lives.

The news this morning is filled with gloom, from tornadoes to oil contamination to floods to a car bomb found in Times Square. At the top of our priorities list should be that underwater oil well. If a bill allowing more off-shore drilling passes through our government at this stage of the game, I will know that those we elect to represent us are totally oblivious to safe global practices.

So, to keep my spirits up and on a postitive track, Molly and I will walk again, and appreciate each and every little piece of life out there from teeny little plants to huge grey herons, and breathe in the so-far clean air, and bask in the sunshine. I promise to also be mindful of my carbon footprint on this earth, and contaminate as little as possible for me to survive.

May we all find something to be thankful for today, and try to make our Earth a bit more life-sustaining.

Happy travels!

It is neat that members of your family appreciates the responsibility of being stewards of the beautiful land.....and not just thinking $ signs. It is a raining damp Sunday here in SW Ohio. Not noticing the wind issues of further south TN land. I caught up on the store trips yesterday. Herschel tried to take Remi in to visit his friends at the health care facility but found that there was a mean "bug" going around and everyone was on "lockdown." Okay the nurse called it something much nicer but yeh, when you can't leave your room to visit with anyone else, go to activities or have coffee to gather in the morning... :? Herschel going from friend to friend and wagging his tail would spread more than good cheer as he collected his ear scratches and belly rubs. He didn't quite understand but came home and sent an e-mail so that everyone would know that he was at least think of them. The staff always shares his e-mails with the residents that know he and Remi. He is just hoping that everyone is getting better. It is always hard to go back in after being away a couple of weeks. Because of the HIPA laws the staff can't tell me when someone is ill, hospitalized or passed. But the other residents quickly share with Herschel....so that he will know. :? Several realize that is the only way we know what is going on. So at this point I don't even know who is being effected only that staff don't want it to spread any worse.

My step sister is finishing up her visit to Cincinnati. We are all planning to head out to my niece's this afternoon for a visit then Libby will come back and spend the night in my "guest room" the Short Bus" and dh is driving her up to meet her plan in the early Monday hours while I head off to work to earn some more money. The dogs are so missing having me around the house. They much prefer retirement hours and travel.
enjoy the day where ever you are. Hope the weather has not created too many headaches for any of you.

Good morning everyone
just getting ready to start my routine chores that didn't get done yesterday.
Having nice weather outside as well and will be out in the yard doing stuff
that needs to be done before it gets really hot. Its suppose to get up into
the 90's this week but high winds later on this afternoon. I hate the high
winds!
Gotta get started on another afghan today so I have something to do while
I'm sitting around at work during my downtime. Getting the "start" done
takes some good concentraton to get it setup right so I usually start at
home while I have no distractions.
Off to read new posts and get started on my day.
Have a great day and be safe.

Morning, Almost 8AM here.
Weather is still goofy here in SW WA. I heard the weatherman say something about setting an April record for rain and we've had below normal temps. I did decide to wear my Bermuda shorts (in the house), just on principle!
Another long night here. My furbaby is eating grass like a sheep and threw up yesterday. Then the past couple nights he's wanted to go out several times to eat more. Other than that he seems just fine. Eats his food, drinks his water and pottie is normal. Not sure what's up.
My RV friend, Jeannette, that has been in the area for her grandson's wedding and some Dr's appts. called yesterday and we met up at the Lewisville SP for our walk with our dogs. I so love that park and am so priviliged to live only 3 mi. from it. I think most of the covered picnic areas were taken for parties so there was allot of music going on. We have quite a few Russian/Ukrainian groups that frequent the park so it's always interesting to see how they celebrate with music and dancing and singing. Last summer I even got to witness their baptizisms in the river! Had two little girls try to pet my friend's dogs. It was fun listening to them chat in both their native tongue and English.
Jeannette, if you might remember, tripped while trying to catch her dog, and fell face first into the side of a parked car and has been having problems since. So far she has had an MRI and a CAT scan, still awaiting results. She also shared that she has a hernia that needs surgury. She has a camp job in CA waiting for her and she told them she'd be there by mid May. Yikes! I don't think that's much time for recovery if she has surgery. I'm also very concerned for her memory. She shared that she got lost driving to her Dr appt that was at the hospital. This is a woman that has driven in almost every state and even in Ireland, Scotland and England without getting turned around. If it's Alzheimers it's come on quickly. I guess the MRI will tell the tale.
Nothing planned for the day. Did housework yesterday, just need to vaccum. Swept the kitchen and bathrooms, will mop another day. Glad I got the grass mowed during a rain break on Friday. It was getting out of hand.
Ok, outta here! Prayers for all the storm victims. What a mess in the SE!

Morning all. There's a bike race here at Monte Sano today, so Peaches and I chose to limit our morning walk to around the cg. Actually did the same yesterday because so many were riding the routes to know them before the race today. I thought they might have bad weather - and it's been fairly windy (just had something land on my roof a bit ago) but we haven't gotten the rains that were expected for this area. And the really bad weather hasn't come here either - at least not so far.

Not doing much today- catching up on bills (time to pay my rv insurance) and will look to see if there are any old movies on tv later. Most Sunday afternoons I can find a goodie on Fox.

Have a great day, all.

Good morning gals! I am not feeling good today. Actually, last night I could feel a sore throat coming on and just felt crappy all over. Went to bed real early and slept pretty good all night. I am loading up on Zicam. I think I picked this up from the gal I worked with at the salon Thursday night. She came in real sick with this same thing. I imagine that being outside in the cold wind yesterday didn't help me any either. So today I have no plans other than to get caught up on here, watch some golf on TV and take frequent naps! Hopefully, I will be feeling better tomorrow since I have to be at my office job tomorrow (month end stuff to finish up), and am suppose to start my golf league tomorrow night (I can find a sub tho if I need to).

Moxy isn't the least bit tired from yesterday! He is running around here bouncing off walls like usual! What a goofus!

I agree, Soos, that the news is getting very depressing lately! Between Mother Nature and humans, it seems like a race to see who can create the most destruction! I prefer to keep the TV off and just enjoy my pretty little world around me here for awhile and hope the rest of it works itself out somehow.

Good late morning (afternoon). Took Jess to the dog park this morning. I love that place because it's gigantic. It's great to see all the dogs running and being goofy. Jess was covered in mud when we were done, so she had a shower.

My grad class is over, so I've been wandering around. It's not as if I don't have anything to do, laundry, dishes, vacuuming, yardwork, etc. I just don't wanna. I think my body and brain are delighted not to be going 90 mph. One month of freedom, then more summer classes. sigh

Haven't been in the rv since Easter weekend, so I'm looking forward to Mother's Day weekend. I'm taking Bobby, Jess, and my parents out for a long camping weekend.

Hope you're all having a super Sunday!

Yep, it's a warm sunny Sunday afternoon! I've got my van packed and am waiting for DD and DGD to arrive. It's the first camping trip for DGD. I think she is going to LOVE the tent and everything that goes with camping. We are going to a park only 10 minutes from home because DD has to go to work tomorrow. I'm looking forward to a fun evening!

Hope y'all are staying dry and safe in this crazy weather.

HELLO SISTAHS!!!

Well the intent was there last night to post early and be able to say GOOD MORNING. But kinda flopped on that. ~sigh~ Some of the flop is the fault and blame of ya'll. I logged in and got lost reading and catching up on some of the doings that have been going on.

Kelly and I are in Kanab UT now. We are staying in a motel until it's time to go to the Lodge on the 5th. We are done with camping for now. We gave up last Wednesday. We had went to Flagstaff to do some things and to get my laptop checked out. Spent the night there and got back to Page late Wednesday afternoon to a huge mess semi disaster at our site. As I had posted the wind storm the week before had destroyed my tent so we were sharing Kelly's tent. We had planned on throwing away the screen house when we were done camping on the 3rd but it was totally ruined in the newest wind storm. The tarp we had wrapped around the inside of the screen house had cleared everything but the camp stove off the camp table. So our new grill laid on the ground, thankfully I don't think anything on the new grill was damaged. Kelly check her tent out which was still standing but our beds and blankets were totally and completely loaded with sand. I have to be honest and tell you that I sat down at the picnic table and bawled. We ended up spending the night in a motel. Next day we went back to the site and tore everything down and packed the trailer. We threw away my tent that I had been trying to patch and threw away the screen house. We will motel it until the 5th. All our blankets and sleeping bags are in monster trash bags on the trailer so we will we doing a monster amount of laundry before we head to the Lodge. We have decided that if we don't have some kind of TT for this coming winter season we will be looking for a super cheap azz apartment and plunking our butts down. If it's to be an apt? We will probably do that in TN to be close to David and Connor. We would love to have an RV as we both want to work in Maine next season.

But for now while in the motel it's quiet and peaceful. NO excitement. ahhhhh

To those new members that I've missed joining? WELCOME!!! This is a madhouse or insane ward at most times but it's a fun one!!

Hope ya all have a great day. Keep those in TN and the SE in your thoughts and prayers. Ya'll be safe please!

Love to all
To those who have had Birthdays? HAPPY BIRTHDAY, I and Kelly truly hope it's just the beginning of a fantastic year for you!

Wow, Echo and Kelly! So sorry to hear about your camping disaster! That's too bad. I hope you guys can find a camper or RV by next fall. You two are really tough to have survived the winter in those tents! I am sure, tho that the motel rooms seem like luxury to you now! Are you staying in a cabin at your destination for the summer? What will you be doing there? Hopefully, you can put some money away thru the summer to pay for a decent little camper.

Terrible news about your camp gear. I can understand a good cry over that after putting up with those winds for so long. Now dust yourself off and look ahead. perhaps if you can discipline yourselves to live on one salary this summer and save the other, you'll have enough to buy a TT at the end of the season. Best wishes!

Dang, Echo---you two have certaily had your share of adversity while tent camping this year! I am so glad you will have a comfy motel room for now until you begin work again on the 5th. A person can only take so much and then it's cry time. Wish I had been there so I could have had an empathetic cry with you, and perhaps a swig or two of Recipe to calm you down!

I am also hoping your summer cabin will be easier to fix up after the snow damage there this winter. As long as you both have a non-leaky roof over your heads, things should be way better than a tent that blows down and away and rips in the winds. I will be thinking of you as you finally have a chance to relax, if only for a couple of nights!

Hello!

Now that we're in a motel we have calmed down a lot! ;) And yep, being in the motel is a luxury!! "Clean, warm, soft, comfy beds go a long way towards a good nites sleep! :D We've be in motel rooms since Wednesday but last nite was the first that we've turned on the TV. We watched a marathon CSI thing. LOL

Today is laundry day. YUCK! Hate going to the laundromat but it's got to be done. All of our blankets and all of our dirty clothes have to be done before we get to the Lodge. There's no longer a laundry/employee building up there as it burnt down over the winter. Boss Lady said that snow and ice came off the roof and ripped off the gas supply pipe and the thing burnt to the ground in about an hour. They are thinking about using the park model we live in last season as a temporary replacement for now. So we have no idea what we will be living in for now. She did say that they have a few park models coming that are suppose to arrive some time in May and that we will be getting one of them. YAY!

Since the big wind storm, like I said we have calmed down a lot. We've both yanked hard on our boot straps and put on them frIilly, bow and ribbon bedecked BIG GIRL PANTIES. (well i did say we need to do laundry  ) So onward we go.

Ya'll be good now!

ps. Soos? be sure and keep some of that recipe handy! we will catch up with you one of these days and we will all raise a cup!!!
