Nicky is sooooooooo spoiled. I know I'm not Sarah - but couldn't help saying that. He and Peaches met briefly through the car door the other day. One of these days I'll take her down to visit and see if they will play together. Peaches loves playing and I think Nicky will be fine with her. There is a spot in Sarah's fence that Peaches could get out - so I'll have to be very diligent, though. Maybe set something against that while we're there.

Sarah brings Nicky for the ride most times they come up the mountain. He's such a sweetie.

Thank you for asking, Mitch. My paw has healed from ripping out nail and broken toe, but I keep breaking it open and being taken back to vet to avoid infection. Remember, I have to keep those pesky chipmunks under control.

Image

Did you notice how clean I look today? Missed my trip up the mountain because my human stuck me at vet all day for paw check/cleanout and bath. She went without me. :( Well, I did do a little digging early this AM and might have needed cleaning up (lots of good mud after the rain)- but all day was too much. I got even with her. Vet used a new shampoo and mom's eyes are all puffed up and she is gasping with stuffy head from smell.

Now what is this about being spoiled? Just look at that face. I don't look spoiled, do I?

Awww, Nicky you look beautiful all clean and fresh-smelling. Roe understands perfectly about those chipmunks. He's looking forward to helping you with that chore.

Dear Nicky,

You are an awfully handsome fellow. Do you want to go out sometime?
What's a chipmunk? I don't think we have those around here.
Are they tasty?

Love,
Abby

Mitch: Chipmunks live all over the US. Think you have them too. Just in case here's a link to some neat info on the little critters and a photo.

For whatever reason in Illinois where I grew up, we called them ground squirrels.

My Mommy told me that my deceased sister (another Bichon) used to hunt and catch chipmunks up in northern Illinois.
But I've never seen one.

Mommy also said that her kayaking guide in Palau referred to certain animals on the uninhabited islands where she slept as "smooth tailed ground squirrels". Mommy said they were just plain, ol' rats and she made sure the food was tightly locked up!

Sincerely,
Abby

PS: The groomer cut my arse with scissors today. I'm not feeling very well. I asked Mommy to kiss it and make it better. She told me I was out of m mind.

I think our equivalent to a chipmunks is a gopher...and they are Radar's nemesis too...a long with the squirrels in the yard (darn black walnut trees) . We have scratches on inside of the patio door to prove it. :(
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Found another photo for those not sure how chipmunk looks. Cute but can be destructive. I find them entertaining to watch. The albinos are relatively rare.

One of my puppies, Trent, just loves to chase squirrels. He goes crazy whenever he sees one outside. It's a wonder they continue to come in the backyard. The weather has bee nice lately, since the rain helped cut down the pollen, so I have kept the sliding door open. The puppies have charged through the screen door so many times that I just stapled up some screen, instead of buying a new door. I just keep a baby gate in front of it. Anyway, today I left the baby gate off, waiting for one puppy to come in and a squirrel came in instead. What an ordeal! That little sucker didn't stand a chance. Trent chased him all over the house (Good thing the bedroom doors were closed) scream barking the whole time. You would think he was the one that was caught.  Trent finally chased him out, with the two other puppies following. The squirrel was not hurt, just scared and disoriented. Bet he won't be visiting anytime soon. :D Linda
