Home, with snaps....

This is my first spring in the Texas hill country and my first time camping at Enchanted Rock. To wake up in a gorgeous place like this and not have to hit the road for home before the sun goes down is way at the top of the list of reasons why I love my RV. I've posted about hiking here several times on my blog. Most recently http://coolclearwater.blogspot.com/2010/01/new-year-hike.html .

The wildflowers have been show stoppers every where this season and Enchanted Rock was no different. Even the bluebonnets were still going strong.

Image

When I arrived Monday afternoon, it was too hot to hit the Loop trail or go up on the Summit so I rock hopped along the creek and saw this guy playing in the trees.

Image

As the sun went down I headed up to the Summit.

Image

The rocks bring out my best imagination. Can you see the old Indian chief who kept watch over my campsite?

Image

I've been trying to get a good snap of this lily for a couple weeks. Finally! and with an added bonus of this curious bug!

Image

Over in AZ I hear the saguaro are just starting to bloom. They don't have anything on us here in Texas!

Image

Each evening several deer grazed in the wildflowers behind my camp.

Image

The ear is a sure 'tell' that she has her attention on me.

Image

After a late lunch yesterday, I decided on strawberries and dark chocolate with a glass of wine for dinner as I watched the full moon rise in the East.

Image

Just between us, I didn't want to come back to Austin this afternoon. The campground was pleasantly quiet, very few campers in the middle of the week. If not for a plan to have dinner with DD and DGD tonight, I would have just stayed there a couple more days!

Very beautiful! Love the pics of the squirrel and the deer. The deer look like they are either well-fed or pregnant. You have a knack with the camera!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Diana, your photography talent has now been "outed" and we hope to see many more pics posted by you! What a beautiful set of photos you sent! How high is the summit, and what is it the summit of?

Strawberries dipped in dark chocolate with a drink or two of red wine makes a superb supper which is also VERY healthy, according to all the recent research!

Sigh----wish I could have been there, but your pics were next best! Thanks.

Oh, Diana...what a great place to camp a few days...my kind of place for sure!

And your pictures are gorgeous! Love all the flowers but especially the cactus bloom.

Hard to pick favorites of your pics...maybe the deer...maybe the moon, wow! I want to be there too. Now gotta check out your blog. Thanks so much for posting here.
