DOGS!!!

Postby Colliemom » Wed Apr 28, 2010 7:23 pm

There are days when.... It was such a beautiful day here today that I thought I would take a ride north to the RV dealer I've been looking the Rockwoods over at. It's about a 60 mile drive. So I put the fur kids in the truck and off we went. Stopped at a little roadside park along what is called the Sturgeon River north of me about 25 miles or so. Let the dogs out to roam and sniff around. The river is shallow but a fast current and gravel bottom with high enough banks that you can't access it. There is one spot though where a little cement slab was put in so you can go in if you want to wade. That water is spring fed and COLD. Well, both of my "girls" went down on the slab and Sassy hopped back up to the bank. Tessa tested the water to see if she could feel bottom cause she wanted to wade (she's a waterbaby). She decided she could and plunked off into the water. Only trouble was she landed right in the black muck along the river bank and not in the gravel bottom. That stuff is sticky, so she clambered back out on the bank. Needless to say, from below tummy down, she was pure black. Midnight black. So we had to have a little towel session before I woul let her back into the truck. Isn't life with dogs a hoot! Wish I had taken the camera. The Marsh Marigolds are in bloom along the river banks too.

That had to be a lot of work with all that fur to get that muck out of it!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Very familiar with the dirty dog routine. Everything sticks to Nicky's coat. Love him anyway.

Yep, Roe likes to find the mucky-muck too. Amazing how quickly they get their undersides coated with the stuff.

out to p, well, the swampcooler was on and the overflow was running water over the

Ava, get Bandit a step stool! With a little height, his aim would be much better.

My Shepherd/Lab mix loves yucky water. The nastier the better. Swamp pond is her absolute favorite. Nastier than being skunked. :D Gotta love them. Linda

Ava, you need to get a plastic fire hydrant like the one in the photo I took at the Walk For Animals! Keep that handy for rainy days! Just put a puppy pad underneath it and you're all set!
