Going camping......

Yay! I'm going camping at Enchanted Rock State Park for two nights! It's a pink granite monolith. One of (if not the) largest in the U.S. I made these reservations several months ago to catch the full moon. And, even tho the blue bonnets are about done, I'm sure there will be many other wildflowers still blooming. No hook ups! Won't post again til Wed evening!

A monolith is a geological feature such as a mountain, consisting of a single massive stone or rock, or a single piece of rock placed as, or within, a monument. Erosion usually exposes the geological formations, which are most often made of very hard and solid metamorphic or igneous rock.

A very famous American monolith is Devil's Tower in Wyoming (below).
The only other one I'm familiar with is Ayers Rock in Australia.
