Shipping weight vs. dry weight

Postby Colliemom » Mon Apr 26, 2010 6:44 pm

I was reading CanineCaravan's post about trailer weight and her van and it got me thinking. I've been getting a bit confused about the difference between shipping weight and dry weight. Is the shipping weight the actual weight of a loaded trailer or doesn't it have any bearing on how much you can two?

I found this:
There always seems to be some misunderstanding about the dry and gross weights of an RV. The dry weight of the RV is the weight with no fluids or cargo. Dry weight often does not include optional equipment or accessories. The applied shipping weight of the RV on the other hand usually includes options and accessories.

Maybe this will help. http://www.your-rv-lifestyle.com/vehicle-weight.html

Thanks for the link, Vicki. I read through it. Very interestng. Seems everybody you talk to has a different idea. I think there are too many different figures and facts out there especially between the vehicle dealers and the RV dealers.

Exactly! If I got the same information from everyone (or everyone shared at least a similar opinion), it would make things oh so much easier to understand....but every single person I asked had a totally different number :-( Very confusing!
