MONDAY WITH FUN TO COME!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

MONDAY WITH FUN TO COME!

Postby Nasoosie » Mon Apr 26, 2010 4:19 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

It's back down to about 33 degrees here this morning, although it didn't feel so cold when Molly and I walked in from the trailer. With no wind or breezes, it seems warm.

No new news on the kids' FL property yet. They have only 4 days to be able to qualify for that $8,000 rebate offered by the feds for first time home buyers, as April is a short month. I can only hope the owners will accept their offer, and then a contract can be drawn up which should cover them. It will be very close!

I tried to start the Kicker (my Suzuki Sidekick property vehicle) yesterday, to no avail. After carrying a gallon of water and antifreeze down to where it's been stalled all winter, and a bunch of wrenches to make sure battery connections were all good, I then hiked back here and carried my portable jumper device down to give it a try. All vehicle liquids were good, including oil and water, so I didn't need that gallon I carried down. When I tried to jump it, all I get is a loud CLICK when I turn the key. (It sounds like an electrical connection trying to get the starter to get moving.) A few have suggested that I should find the solenoid (on top of the starter?) and try to rap on it with a hammer to dislodge it, if that's what's wrong with it. If it's decent weather when I get home from school today, I will try to find that starter-----which I JUST had installed last summer! If it's the starter again, and I firmly suspect it IS, then they gave me a useless one last year. Then I will need to get someone to come and tow it to a shop for repair, and it won't be the same shop! Between that starter and my brand new trailer tires that look to be about 10 years old, I feel totally gypped!

So, its off to school I go today, and am looking forward to a better offer to retire if my friend who's the teachers' organization spokesperson was able to get me more years of credit with my school time at my present school. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I don't like the sound of all that oil leaking out onto the ocean floor off the coast of the Gulf....I cannot believe the prez is actually thinking about allowing more offshore drilling if this is what can happen in an accident/fire situation. Offshore drilling for oil and environmental safety are oxymoronic terms. WAKE UP!

Coffee is hot and tastes really good this morning, so stop by and let us know what's up in your neck of the woods. I am hoping all the tornadic activity will be over by the end of today when that nasty front clears FL.

Happy Monday!

P.S. ACK! I just read this from Weather Underground! Snow day here we come!

Winter Storm Watch
Statement as of 4:29 AM EDT on April 26, 2010

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Tuesday morning through
Wednesday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a Winter
Storm Watch for heavy snow across the northern Adirondacks in New
York as well as the northern Green Mountains of Vermont... which
is in effect from Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon.

* 6 to 12 inches of heavy wet snow is expected from Tuesday
through Wednesday across the higher elevations of the northern
Adirondacks and northern Green Mountains.

* With temperatures near freezing through much of the event... a
heavy wet snow is expected. Heavy wet snow could result in
downed tree limbs and power lines... which in turn may cause
scattered power outages.

* A mix of rain and snow Tuesday morning will change to all snow
above 1000 feet as cold air moves into the north country.
Precipitation will remain all snow Tuesday night... which is when
the heaviest snowfall is expected. Snow will again mix with rain
before ending Wednesday afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor
the latest forecasts.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio... your local media... or
go to www.Weather.Gov/Burlington for further updates on this
weather situation.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Morning,
I'm moving slowly this morning. Babysitting for 3 days takes a toll nowadays, it seems. I had my 2 grand daughters again this weekend, from Fri night till last last night. The 10 yr old had a school project she needed to get done so she spent about 7 hrs on that! Yikes! I don't recall every having homework that required that much time. She had to create a 7 page scrapbook about a book she read. She also had to write a story of her own and then math. The 8 yr old's teacher says she will never give homework for the weekends so she was bored as the weather was perfect and we were housebound till her sister could finish hers. We did take an hour or so break every so often to go play tennis and ride our bikes. For all my complaining I'm so blessed to have this time with them. There will come a day when they would rather be doing other things with friends instead of spend time with Grammy.

I'm still suffering from these darn allergies. This morning I awoke with a horrendous headache across my eyes and forehead area. I took some meds and then got some coffee in me and it seems under control for now, but I feel a late morning nap coming on. I'll save the housecleaning for another day!

Glad everyone is safe and accounted for in the tornado states. Scary stuff. I've been thru my share of them growing up in the midwest. During the day when you can keep an eye on the sky it isn't so bad, but I hated them at night! That said, I miss a good thunderstorm. I lived 21 yrs in Alaska and only heard it thunder a handfull of times and any lightening was like someone from heaven was taking a picture. No streaking kind. Here on this side of WA state where I live now, it's pretty much the same.

Take care everyone!

I woke up with a headache too and now my nose is stopped up. I didn't go anywhere to catch anything so guess it's allergies too. I'm about ready to get a zip lock bag with some ice and go back to bed.
