A few pictures of my day

I took a few shots today as Molly and I walked, cleaned, organized, loaded the lawnmower into the truck to take to the shop class to clean and summerize, and just plain enjoyed the sun.

Doing this and that and more this and that!

View from back field. Not much green out there yet!

My 1988 Glenelle trailer from the front. I love this trailer!

Image
Cabin at the pond. My entire family helped build this. Everything runs on generator power. Water comes from the pond for washing dishes, clothes, and bodies, and drinking water comes from my house in jugs. It has a huge fieldstone fireplace.

View of pond in front of cabin, with heavy duty lake canoe in foreground.

Pretty shot of the pond. I still don't hear any spring peeper tree frogs.

Image
SOB!! My beautiful outhouse bit the dust this winter. I will rebuild it as soon as I can get some help to clear that tree off it.

Image
My most favorite place in the world---my Adirondack leanto, which I built totally on my own! My outhouse, what's left of it, is behind it, and I built that on my own, too.

I hope you all has a nice a day as Molly and I did today-----sunny, warm, no bugs out yet------all in all a wonderful day to be outside.

I love it. Looks so relaxing. Just like northern Michigan. Sorry about the outhouse. At least nobody was in it! Ah , the good old outhouse days. Not too many people know about those these days. I'm sure many of us could tell some good tales of adventures in the outhouse. I well remember the one my grandmother had at her cabin when I was growing up. It was black and down the hill from the cabin and very scary at night to a young growing up little girl. We kept a "potty" can on the cabin porch so we didn't have to go down there at night.

Wow Soos! What a beautiful place on the pond! I bet it is beautiful in the summer and with all the sounds of nature! I imagine you see a lot of wildlife out there! I am so impressed that you built that leanto by yourself! You are one talented and tough woman! It (the leanto) looks so cozy! Is that by the pond too? How far is that from your house?

Just be careful lifting things like lawnmowers into the back of your truck!!! Don't need to hear about any heart attacks or broken backs now!

Soos...I think you're sitting on a gold mine! Your property is beautiful. I can see a small campground by that pond that you could rent to groups for family reunions etc. You could manage that during the summer months and travel in the winter. But it would ruin into your quiet tranquility in the summer.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Well, it kind of is a campground when we all visit. I was there for a bit 2 summers. Missed the last couple though. Beautiful spot. Thanks for showing the pictures.

Great pictures Soos! Looks like spring is there to stay. Glad that tree missed your leanto at least. I'll have my new kayak with me this summer to try out on your pond.

I sure do wish I could share this fantastic property with you all, too. As much as I love it, and as many campfires as I have sat around alone since the kids grew up and moved on to their own lives, I always wish I had someone to share the overwhelming beauty with. For me, this place is truly what I hoped for all my life. Believe me, I appreciate what I have right here every day after the snow has melted----and some days in the dead of winter, when the sun is out and the skies are bright, crispy blue, and I am skiing around the trails. It's just the long, dark, lonely, cold, difficult winters up here that are making me want to retire and get on down the road to warmer places for the winter months.

We have thought about various projects that could make this place pay for itself, and my kids will be the ones to take on those possibilities----including a teaching family-type, primitive campground.

I am happiest when people come to visit me and we can sit around an evening fire, musical instruments at hand, and sing some good-ole songs! For years I used to set up tents at the pond fpr guests, or I would stay in the tent and give the guests the leanto, and one year I had my old Glenelle trailer set up down there for the summer. I found I prefered the leanto to the trailer, and I had no guests! I have stayed in the leanto at the pond every summer since my son was 2 years old, and he is now 31! I do know what I have here, and I never take any of it or granted, you can be sure of that. So c'mon up and see it in person!

You have an absolutely gorgeous place, Soos. I am so glad I had a chance to walk some of it. Sure sorry about the outhouse.
You really do have EVERYTHING there that we all travel around to find. The more pictures you show, maybe the more of us, you'll
have to visit :D I always enjoy your threads, you make them all so interesting. When you're retired, maybe the couple really cold
months there will be your time to leave and then come back to enjoy all of this before the peepers come out. You'll work it all out.
In the meantime, keep the photos coming, they make us stuck at home, really able to see nature as it should be.

Thanks, Carol
