Spent the evening cleaning house for my company this weekend (Linda). Can't come up with a boat ride for us but there are still plenty of things around here for us to do. There are several bars on the lake that we can hang out at! I PM'd Laurie to see if she wants to join us one night somewhere. Just waiting now to hear from Linda to see when she will be here (Thursday night or Friday morning).

Has anyone heard from Echo and Kelly recently? I think they were moving to another campground last weekend. Maybe they are just busy getting all set up there.

Have a good night! I have a wonderful breeze coming in off the lake tonight! Should be great sleeping weather!

Finally got caught up with all the posts on here! Been busy this week! Linda will be here tomorrow around noon. We might meet up with Laurie on Sunday. I got Linda a "special" house warming present for her new RV. She picked up her RV yesterday and says she really likes it! Can't wait to see it! Will take lots of pics this weekend!

It's really late but thought I would check in with an update. Linda got here around 3pm and managed to get her RV in a good spot in my parking lot. I think we have talked non-stop since she got here! We took Rags out for a walk on the bike trail and then went out for dinner. We were at the restaurant for I think 3 hours talking. From there, I took her to my dad's house to meet him. He talked non-stop for over an hour. We finally got back here at 11pm! I have to work tomorrow until 2, so she will use the time to walk Rags, do some laundry, etc ,til I get home. Then we will probably head up to Camping World and maybe hit a bar on the lake tomorrow night.

She has a water leak somewhere under her RV that she needs to get looked at so she may end up heading back to Iowa where she bought her RV to get it fixed next week. Otherwise "Myrtle" is looking good! Very nice inside and out! I took pics but left my camera in my car so will post them tomorrow. She loved her house warming gift!

Rags came up to my apartment to meet my critters. Zoey, my cat flew out onto the porch and hid as soon as she saw Rags come in the door! Rags met each of the ferrets and was a little apprehensive about them. Buster was half awake and didn't react much, but Moxy got all excited and kept sniffing Rags. I don't think Rags was too impressed since he couldn't wait to get out the door and leave!

It was really windy today and somewhat nippy, so hopefully it will be warmer and less windy this weekend so we can take our bikes out for a ride and spend some time down by the lake.

Hope all is well with the rest of you!

feels good to kick back and put my feet up, walkin around my place is a maze
of stuff everywhere. Carpets all done and I even cleaned the recliner. Recliner
is dry and now its all covered up again and the dining area is trying to dry. Don't
really want to put the table and chairs back until its completely dry, but I did dig
out my heavy duty extension cord so I could plug in my computer and do some
computin
Early dinner today, had a teriyaki beef and veggi noodle thingy, cottage cheese
and pears on the side. It was tasty and quite filling. Maybe a little piece of cake
from the freezer will serve as desert later on, hopefully it will defrost in no time.
By then my tummy will have room :D
Somebody stir the fire please, I'm too relaxed to move.

Enjoying the campfire and the quiet. I have come back from a day of "stimulating the economy." Daughter, Kate, had given me specific directions as to what not to wear to her wedding next week in NC. She knows that my few dressy clothes are pretty predictable, boring and haven't really changes much in 20 years. After, Kate had made suggestions regarding the "look" for the wedding, she called back several weeks ago to remind me that I would "need" something nice for the "not" rehearsal dinner and the Sat morning brunch for out of town family! :? So, the woman who buys her clothing at Goodwill, Walmart and Target and has never been comfortable spending real money on clothing, just spent all that money she made working Sats and overtime plus some more. (I can find nice name brand stuff at Goodwill, really!) Anyway, I when into Coldwater Creek, Chicos and few other places that I have always admired but never figured I really needed enough to spend my money on and bought stuff. I did remind myself that some women do this all the time.... :) Figure that my finds should last me another 5-6 years, since I can't see me needing to wear them out often. Now to complete the search for another pair of comfortable shoes. Hiking boats and gym shoes are out. I am thinking that a new tan pair of Trek sandels should work with the cream and the tan pants. They are comfortable and I can always remind her about the High School Senior that wore clear plastic flip flops to her high school graduation! :)

The weather was cool and so beautiful all day as I was driving to and from the Outlet Mall. All I could think of is how nice it would be to be out traveling and camping....not to mention the look I got from the dogs reminding me that they really, really out to be out hiking, too!

Hope everyone got a chance to play along with the spring cleaning and daily/weekly chores that were getting done today. The warmth of the fire is just perfect to take the chill off the spring breezes.....

I don't come here often but wanted to sit a spell and reflect on the day, and this year, so far.
Gosh, it seems since I've turned 60 I've seen more Drs. than in all my other years combined!! ;)
For all my whining, I'm grateful that I've reached this age and in relative good heath! I'm grateful
that all the heart tests showed nothing major going on except that I need to learn to relax more.
Today I had my Dr appt with the neurologist about my tremors in my right hand/leg. As it turns out,
my regular Dr was correct in that I have Essential Tremors. It runs in the family and there's isn't
a whole lot you can do about it as it's not curable. There are drugs to lessen the effects, but as
I only have what the Dr called a mild case, he saw no reason to start taking anything, BUT, he did say
that since I am on BP meds, there are some that are beta blockers that are known to help with tremors.
He also is seeing if my thyroid has been checked lately so might have that done in the near future.
Oh, and the neurologist also suggested a glass of wine a day! He said that he can't "prescribe" it as
some patients may take it too far and become too dependant! We'll see as I really don't care for
wine. :x
Now about these allergies!.........

well, a little drop in temperature today and this campfire feels mighty nice. Cloudy all
day and they predicted rain but it never really happened, although it might have in
some parts of town but not mine. Supposed to be the same tomorrow. Not really
cold enough to run the heat and certainly not hot to have to turn on the ac so guess
I'm loving this weather :D The countdown to the end of the school as posted on the
white board today said 25 days, :( that means when summer school starts we only
get to work 4 hours a day. But I spoke with the charter bus company I worked for
one summer and they will put me back on, so looks like I'll be working both jobs.
I will never get any rest when that starts.
On that little note, I'm kickin back and resting right now. :D

Whew! I am really tired out from my fun weekend with Linda! Trying to get caught up on here with the postings and took a 2 hour nap earlier in the middle of reading them! Linda and I have been talking about going down to California together in the fall if she can find a workamping job down there. That gives me more incentive to get my ducks in a row in the next few months! Steve (my now ISO -Insignificant Other) has offered to help pay to get my car fixed (rear struts) so that will help. Need my car in good working order to get down there!

Now I get to look forward to next Sunday when I get my annual visit with my daughter, Naomi! Yay! :D Need to get her a birthday present yet. I always get her something to do with animals. She loves animals (that's my girl!!), especially horses! Also, more pics to take! Then the following weekend is the Walk For Animals! Need to get Moxy in for his shots before then. I am teaching him to roll over for a treat and he is doing very well with that! It's so cute! Maybe they will have a Pet Tricks contest there! Actually, I think they have one for dogs, already.

I think I gained a few pounds over the weekend with eating out so much. Need to start getting outside and walking and biking them off now! Gotta get in a little better shape for summer!

So glad to read that Soos is finally going to retire! My quote from Janice Joplin is "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to stick around for"! Time to move on to better things (and warmer climates) down the road! Yeah!

I am looking forward to everyone's adventures this summer! Can't wait to see pics and hear fun stories! I plan to go down to Iowa to visit Linda sometime this summer for a few days. Gotta dig out my tent and camping gear! I have some relatives near where she is staying that I haven't seen for a long time that I can stop to visit, as well. They used to be RV'ers but not sure if they still do that or not. My dad's cousin used to be a traveling salesman and took his family on the road with him in their travel trailer and would stop up here for a week or so to visit us each summer at the local KOA, so that was a lot of fun since his kids were around my age.

Time to let the ferrets out and make some cookies! Have a great night, sleep tight and don't let the wood ticks bite!

I had a huge posting all ready and lost it when my connection timed out! Bummer! Now I'm too tired to post much. Just want to let you know I'm in Dyersville, IA, home of the Field of Dreams. Plan to ride on the Heritage Trail tomorrow. Nice little town, but no cg. I stopped at the tire place in town to ask and the nice guy there said people stay under the water tower. ..seriously! So...that is where we are! It is in a little city park, across from the ball fields.Another free night; -) I'm getting used to boondocking! Well..off to bed. Trains are further away here so should be pretty quiet.

Got quite a lot done today but didn't get to my resume or job hunting
I decided to bring Buster in to the vet to have his leg looked at since he has still been limping. Turns out that he has a ruptured ligament in his knee. He could have surgery ($2000) or just live with it and hope that scar tissue will surround it and give it more support. I opted for him living with it. He isn't in any pain, it is just that his knee is no longer stable or strong enough to put a lot of weight on it. While we were there, I had the vet give Moxy his shots so he would be all ready for the Walk For Animals next weekend.
So I spent an hour rearranging their cage to two levels (instead of 4) with a carpeted ramp going from one level to the other. His new nickname is Gimpy  . Poor little guy! He isn't a real active ferret like Moxy is, so that is a good thing. He isn't a climber or jumper either so not sure how he got injured in the first place.
Got a couple of books for Naomi about animals (I am a book addict so I like to give books as gifts). I hope she likes them!
It is getting really windy here tonight! We have some storms coming in overnight and thru the weekend.

Barbie...Sorry to hear about Buster's leg, but I think you kind of knew already what was wrong. I would have opted for the wait and see option, too, at that price  Glad Moxie got her shots for the walk. Can't wait to hear about it! Books are a good choice for Naomi's birthday. My grandkids love getting books or Barnes and Noble gift cards. I got your PM, but will let you know to look here so I don't have to type the same thing twice...I'm beat!

What a day! It's 9:30 and I'm just now eating supper. Stayed at a nice county park last night for $15...cheap for full hookups! Went to leave today and Myrtle wouldn't start  I tried and tried. Thought it had something to do with that crazy security fob. She wouldn't start yesterday for awhile, but then did, but no go today. Sure glad I bought that road service from Camping World! Paid for itself today. They sent out a tow truck. The guy had to go back for a bigger one and then they disconnected the drive shaft, etc. Quite an ordeal and took awhile, but we finally got on the road. Had Rags stay in the kennel for the drive so he wouldn't get car sick in the tow truck or anything. He didn't like that :x The nearest place they could find that would service me was in Cedar Rapids...50 some miles away! At least the tow truck guy was nice and good conversation. ATC Truck Repair was great!!! Tom helped me and even gave me a discount since I'm not working yet. It still cost over $200. It was the starter. I called the previous owner just in case it was still under warranty, but he said it was a rebuilt one from Napa and 2 yrs old...bummer! A nice young man named Casey put in a new one and even fixed my windshield washers that weren't working. I will be letting the dealership know about this and I hope they help me pay for it! By the time I got out of there it was getting dark and foggy so I decided not to drive all the way to Saylorville tonight when it can wait 'til tomorrow. The Walmarts were inconvenient so I pulled off at a rest area. The traffic is noisy, but I can probably sleep through that. The road makes a singing sound here  At least they have WIFI so I don't have to use my thumbs to type on my Droid. :D Will finish my trip to Saylorville ;) in the morning. My new boss, Pam, said she would take me over to my mom's to pick up my car. She seems very nice!

Think I'll check some of the threads and then walk Rags (pepper spray in hand) before heading off to bed. Hope the campfire keeps blazing ;)

Linda, too bad the starter didn't go out up here. Mike probably would have charged you a quarter of that price to fix! Be careful at that rest stop especially after dark! Those places can be scary! Are there other RV's or trucks there? It will be nice for you to have your car again! Did you say you won't be able to keep your motorcycle?

I need to get Moxy out for some walks this week to practice walking on the leash. He forgets how that works over the winter! I have been teaching him to roll over for treats and he is getting pretty good at that now. I hope the weather is good for the Walk. They have it rain or shine anyways but I won't take him if it is raining, real windy or too cold. Not fun for either one of us. A couple years ago, it started out nice, but as we were on the walk, the wind picked up and it got colder so we turned around. Just as we got back to the Humane Society, a really bad thunderstorm hit. We found a large tent they had set up to sell things so we sat under there for the 2 hours it lasted! I had to buy a sweatshirt to wear just to stay warm! The bus ride back to the parking lot was awful because of the strong smell from all the wet dogs! I had a carrier with a blanket inside for Moxy so he stayed warm and dry! Last year, I carried him in a large purse instead, which was easier for me and he was able to stick his head out and watch what was going on around us, and then hide inside if he wanted to take a quick nap. I walk him occasionally but I have to be careful with all the dogs around. You never know if they want to just sniff or take a bite! Don't need any more vet bills right now!

Time for bed! No cookies tonight :( Used up the last of the cookie dough last night. Did have some ice cream tho :P

Barbie---I will be thinking of you anticipating your visit with Naomi! What an exciting time for you! I, too, am looking forward to seeing my daughter, Mona, again this summer when we plan our family GTG to celebrate my retirement. And also her daughter, my granddaughter, Donita and her husband and my two great grandkids, Isabella (2) and Joshua (5)! Families separated, yet in touch----I love it!
