WELL NOW!!! Cedar just beat me to the punch (not hard to do!) and sent all the cards I had been collecting from the Saranac Lake shops! So, I will actually use my post cards to mail to people!
Upper NY State has the Adirondack Park which is larger than three of our National parks put together----can't remember which 3 of them, but know it's true. Our "Forever Wild" policy up here has been the bane of many locals who think they should have the right to develop the area as they choose, but I am so thankful for most of the regulatory rules as we have a beautiful, un-ruined wild place. My property, which is within the park, butts up to a completely wild section of the Park allowing no development, and is zoned for having a house for every 26 acres-----that means no company can come in here and put up tons of houses on acre lots. That was the plan of the original owner of this property, but it was shot down when the Adirondack Park Agency came into being! We lucked out when the owner ran and lowered the cost of our 400 acres with a brand new house which was to have been the demo for the development.
