I've notic that a number of folks on this site have been to Alaksa. What are some of your favorie memories from your trip. I'll start.
i went in 2000 with two of my work partners. We travelled out in my Tahoe. Were going to rent a MH but was too expansive and we really didn't have time to do leisure, had to get back to work in a month. Some of my most fond memories of our trip was the cruise up the Inside Passage on the Alaska Marine Highway (ferry) and the things we saw and people we met. We had spectacular weather and went we left Petersburg the mountains were just shimmering in the water. Alaska in all it's glory. We stayed at a lodge 95 miles back in Denali National Park where I took a shuttle to Wonder Lake (hoping to see Mt. McKinley, no luck) and hiked back or most of the way anyway (shutle came along). I was thinking that here I was out there with nothing beyond me but wilderness for 600 miles to the Bering Sea except for scattered native villages. And in Whitehorse, Yukon I finally reached a dream of seeing the Yukon River. Could just picture the gold rush miners heading north. And the drive on the Alaska Highway, an experience in itself. But mild compared to years ago. And the fun of trying to wash off the mud from road construction
