Deming New Mexico

Got to Deming yesterday about 4pm which was 5pm to me since I was still on Central time. When I was checking in the lady started to put me in an end site - telling me to just make a tight U-turn to pull into it. Told her I couldn't make that tight a turn and she informed me there was plenty of room. I walked to the site and sure enough, there was no way I could have gotten into it with her directions. I get so frustrated with people giving directions that apparently don't RV. She then moved me to another site. The park is pretty empty so where does she put the next person to come in? So close that their door was practically in my bedroom. Grrrrr!!!!

They have one site with really nice landscaping, think its a host site. There was still once cactus in full bloom (pictures on my blog). Cactus may be kinda ugly most of the time but when they bloom, they sure make up for it. Will get to Silver City in about an hour and start setting up. Glad the drive is over.

Don't know the name of the cactus. Car seems to be okay so far. Got to my site and will have today and tomorrow to set all my stuff (Flamingos, etc) up. Start work Saturday. Sophie is a big hit. Going to cut down a KOA shirt just for her and she can be the official greeter. Will get paid in dog biscuits. Set up my little fenced area and Buddy and Sassy enjoy being outside at least until it gets hot. Love the cool nights and low humidity - that's why I come here.

Glad your trip is over and you have a little bit of time to get set up. I have friends who are headed that way and said they have a reservation at a KOA in Silver City. Aren't you at a KOA, is it the only one in that area? If so, you may see them. He was willed property in Deming, but plan to spend what time they have out there touring the area around Silver City. They had asked me to go with them, but in mid June didn't really appeal to me, and they are traveling with other couples so, I would be the odd person. Just a couple of reasons to back out. Not sure what I will do yet, may still be working here, UGH!!!

Hope you have a really nice summer out there Karen
