Nacogdoches and Azaleas

Postby mtngal » Tue Apr 13, 2010 7:55 am

Good morning from East Texas! I'm in Nacogdoches (NAK a DOE chez). It's the home of Stephen Austin University so the population is about half college students. The other half is dedicated to preserving the history of Nacogdoches because it is the oldest city in Texas. At sunset yesterday we visited the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden. This is interesting because the garden is a partnership between the university and many of the old families in town. But it's mostly just beautiful! Enjoy....

And finally here's a virtual azalea for your hair....

Beautiful Diana! Was that a yellow azalea in the back of one of the pictures? Don't believe I've ever seen one.

How beautiful. Are they fragrant? I felt as though I could smell them.

Oh, Diana - those pictures are so beautiful! Makes me wish I could stroll through there, too.

Diana, your pictures sure have brightened up my day, as I am using the one with all the red flowers closer up as my wallpaper for the day!

Thanks so much for sending some color to this drab (so far) North-Country spring!

Beautiful azaleas! The ones in my yard are already gone by.

I never knew what azaleas were until I moved here to WA. They are in almost everyone's yard. Love all the colors, too. They are one of my favorite flowering bushes.

I never knew they came in yellow, always thought it was red, white and various shades
of pink, although I think I remember a varigated one before. The yellow is pretty.
