FRIGID ADIRONDACK MONDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

FRIGID ADIRONDACK MONDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Mon Apr 12, 2010 4:12 am

After that wild and windy and rainy front went through here last night, rocking my trailer like an earthquake, the temperatures dropped overnight. My oil-filled electric heater is keeping it toasty in there, however. It's about 25 now, and frost all over everything, including my new truck! I didn't think to leave my defroster and fan on so I could remote start it this morning and have it all ready to roll, so I'll have to go out after my bath and do it myself. The new remote starter seems to work way better than my other one did. Time will tell.

I am really not looking forward to dealing with my 'kids' again today....it's taken me the entire two weeks to stop clenching my teeth and grinding them to nubbins, worrying about their behavior and my lack of ability to make a difference in their lives. Sigh.

Today I MUST call KOA and reserve my spot for Memorial Day weekend, if it's still available. If the spot I want is taken already, Cedar, could you please email me the info, such as phone number and name of the campsite where you and Kathy will be that weekend? Also, once again, the number of the site where you will be and the one you said might be easy (or easier) for me to get into? I will try to see what's still available there if KOA is a no go. I have been in too much of a funk here to even think about camping until now, but I am good to go now, I am!

Have to find some clothes to wear other than camp clothes this morning, and take a hot bath. Poor little Molly will be going back to being alone all day.

I have two doc's appointments I need to keep this month, and will also schedule a 'chat' appointment with the doc who does colonoscopies, to see if she can come up with a plan so I can be subdued enough to not jump off the table----I need to let her know about my immunity to sedatives and anesthetics. After all those medical things, I should be good to go for another 40 years!

Hope you all have a good day, wherever you may be and whatever your plans. Coffee is ready, so stop by and share your thoughts with us all. Happy Monday! (ACK!)
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

I haven't a clue what the temp is out there as it's only 3:30AM here and it's the coldest just before dawn and dawn is a ways away yet. ;) Choco woke me up with ringing his poochie bells to go out so here I am. The frogs are sure croaking up a storm out there. The warmer weather sure gets them going.

Yesterday was a nice day here so I did a little yard work. I had a huge fiddlehead fern in the front flowerbed and the freezing rain this winter killed about half of it, and it was getting way too big, so I dug that out and replanted the spot with a couple shrubs that were on sale in the garden dept of Fred Meyer. The new shrub's tag says they are good in shade and that is what is needed for that area, so they should be happy there.

Nothing planned for today. I believe it's suppose to start raining again and not be nice till the weekend. If the rain holds off I'll see if my friend wants to walk her dogs with me at the state park. I'm so worried about Jeannette as a couple weeks ago, as she was RVing up this way, she stopped at a Wal Mart in CA and her little dog got out and she ran after her. She tripped and fell head first against a car. She said her eyes turned black and blue and since then the back of her neck hurts and she has constant headaches. BUT her biggest fear is that her memory has gotten really bad. As we walked last Saturday she talked almost non stop and she told me the same half dozen stories over and over. She does have a Dr appt on Tues. to see about her diabetes stuff and she will get the head thing checked, too.

Soos, glad to hear you are getting your ducks in a row for a colonoscopy. I'm the opposite in that most drugs work double time on me. All I remember of the procedure is turning on my side and then waking up fully dressed and sitting and talking with the nurse about what the Dr found. I can see why they make you check in with your driver or they won't go ahead with the procedure. They make you sign a paper that you won't drive for 18 hrs afterward.

Also hope you get the campsite you want for Memorial day, Soos. Ok everyone have a great day!

Good morning,...

Good luck with your return to school, Soos,... and here's hoping it's your last few weeks. I know that the change in position has not been good for you. I know that I could not have lasted more than a week or two. You have done well and I'm sure you have contributed a lot to those kids,. more than you will probably ever know.

When the sun comes up and warms things a bit here we'll get busy with that yard work that is screaming to be done. I'll be calling my camper dealer today too to get word on my new cupboard doors and when I'll take the rig there.

Soos,.... the campground is AuSable Point, You can check it online via Reserve America and reserve site-specific. I do all my reservations that way. It was #75 that I suggested to you. All sites there are back-ins. That site was one of the easier ones. We're on #76 and I see that #74 is already taken too. Maybe KOA would still have drive-through available even if it wasn't your favorite site. Either way,....Good luck,... Maybe we'll see you!

Doesn't look like we got a frost here,... whew. But the "peepers" do have to freeze up three times before it's truly spring!

Hope everyone is set for a great Monday!

Good morning from the stick house in Ocala. I'm already missing the open road. Laundry today and continue to clean out the rv after 2 weeks. Yesterday I skipped church :o to give the rv a good wash to remove all the salt spray from camping on the beach.

Oh, and I named my rv while on this trip...."Wanderin' Star," or just Star for short. Does anyone remember the movie with Lee Marvin in which he sang the song, "I was born under a wanderin' star"? I can't remember the name of the movie. Anyway it seems to fit me.

Soos, I agree with what Cedar said about your class at school....here's hoping you're on the home stretch now. And nothing like getting away camping & mini-gtgs to recover from a funk. Hope you can get a good site and do that.

Lenora, it sounds like Jeannette should have gotten checked out immediately. Her memory issues are symptoms of a head injury/concussion.

Roe's vet appt. is this morning at 11 a.m. He's resting up on the couch right now. I'll let you know how it goes.

Enjoy your time off, Cedar!

Good morning! Another beautiful day here in IA! It was in the 70's yesterday and looks nice out already today.

Went to the RV show yesterday. Fun to look even if I'm not looking to buy. Did buy a cool hose nozzle, tho. Pricey, but more like a fire hose nozzle. I always break the store bought ones and this one is pretty indestructible and guaranteed for as long as I have it. Watched some cooking guys. You may have seen them...real dorks! Not nice to say, but they're supposed to be funny and it was hard for me to sit through their presentation...not funny to me! One couple walked out and they made fun of them and laughed so hard that one of them cried. Wanted to see the maintenance class, but that guy left after Saturday's show. Got some shopping done for my new "home sweet motor home". I think soon to be XDH realizes how good he's making out on the divorce, so he's buying those things I need...like hoses, etc., and dishes, food, and supplies. He's taking me off the joint accts today, so will have to scrape by until I get my first paycheck at the end of May.

Soos. ..it REALLY sounds like you need to retire and hit the road for some R&R...and your sanity! Hope your first day back goes well. Liz...glad you made it "home" OK and Wandering Star is all clean and shiny!

Well, I have a little " to do list" for today, so better get out of bed and walk the boys. Hopeful that my Droid doesn't have the hiccups today when I post this! I'm getting excited about a mini gtg with Barbie on Fri! Decided to head up with the new mh to Camping World in Rogers MN, not far from her. Anyone else here in that area? May post in GTG thread. I will also be heading to some state Parks in NE IA for some hiking and R&R before I start my new work camping job. Have a great day girls!

good morning ladies
well dispatch was not happy I was calling in sick, oh well, I really don't think
they would want me "stroking out" at the wheel with 63 kids behind me.
Will see what my doctor says today. Still taking it easy although I think
I'll get the dishes done, didn't do any over the weekend and the cups, saucers
and spoons are stacking up.
Hope Soos day back to work goes well for her.
Will stop by Walmart on my way back from the doctor to get one of those
nice little blood pressure machines, daughter says their only $19 and all
you do is put it on and push the button. It does all the thinking and then
gives you your results.
Did get the taxes done yesterday and got a bit of a return, as compared to
when I did them and thought I had to pay. Of course it will go to last years
taxes but we're going to do an ammended return for last year and see if
we can't fix that one as well. It appears there are credits I never knew I
had as I've done my own taxes all my life.
Coffee is good and its time for my toast so I can take my aspirin. Have a
great day wherever you are and whatever you do, be safe.

Had a front come in last nite from Alaska...rained almost all nite, still raining, cold and windy. Of course it rained, I need to get Hope out of her house and into the driveway Thurs to get her cleaned up and loaded to go to Laughlin next Tues. She'll be a muddy mess getting her out of the back half acre. Oh well, she needs a bath anyway. Just hope it dries up enough that I don't get stuck getting her out.

On a brighter note, we had beautiful weather Sat for the Harley Davidson open house and poker run. Between the poker run, sale of In 'N Out burgers and what the dealership donated we raised over $3000 for the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House. WooHoo! Money that was needed and will be well spent! BF and I were stuck working one of the poker stops so we didn't get to ride (other than the 60 miles round trip to the stop), but since it was for such a good cause I can deal with it. And we got a free burger for working! Had a lot of fun talking with the riders that came by to draw their cards, so the day wasn't a complete wash.

Not much planned for today, don't know if I'll even make it to the gym...we'll see. Bikerchic, better be some pictures posted on GTG's of your's and Barbie's mini! We live for pictures here! (I should talk, I'm the worst for that! Used to the best, but I'm going down hill!) Hope everyone has a great day!

Yes, thanks Mitch....I knew you'd be on top of it!

Update: Roe will have $500 surgery to remove the growth on his foot on Wednesday, but should be ready to hike again in a couple of weeks. They will send it for a biopsy if I choose for another $134 to see if its cancer....haven't decided on that added $$ yet.

Liz, would the treatment be any different if it was cancer?

Wow, Liz. I had a feeling it might be something requiring surgery because of the worry you had over the growth. Something minor you would have taken care of. I will be thinking of you & Roe on Wed.

Hello Ladies, not morning but taking a few mins to read the news here. Ava, so glad to read you did see about your dizziness and planning to see your dr. today. Will be looking for more word from you as to what you found out. Then I see Roe needs surgery, I hated to see he has a growth that has to be removed , I wasn't aware he had one, so was surprised. I have been so busy here, that I don't get to read all, I get sleepy and have to leave so much news unread. Sure hope all works out well, for you Ava and Maggies very good friend, Roe too.

Was also glad to read this morning, that you made it home safely , Liz. Glad you had such a good trip and hey, I like the name you picked for your rig, too.

I have my house almost washed down on the outside. Mid afternoon, when its not so hot will pressure wash the decks for treatment later on, this week. Also have a place rotillered up for some plants and a few veggies. Haven't planted a thing in several years and thought I would this year. I have let things go so bad, will surely be here to harvest anything that might grow, as I am a slow worker and there is so much to do. I played just to long and now have to pay for it. I've kind of enjoyed being home. I am cleaning inside and outside and adding landscaping etc. that I have't bothered with, so it might be more appealing to a new owner, if sales start up soon. I am realizing with each birthday, that I need to do something about my living arrangements, I am too isolated here from all family and live out away from stores, drs. etc. I have a lot of thoughts going around in my head, main one being, I am too old for all this work, I just wanna Play!!!

Had company over the week end, and so haven't been on here and boy did I find you gals have all been up to so much stuff. Oh Soos, almost forgot to tell you, I LOVE YOUR TRUCK !! I am a truck person and boy you picked yourself a dilly, Good for you!!! The color is my favorite too. You'll look great roaming around visiting all the Sistahs and seeing this great countryside of ours, in that.

Can't set here too long, or I won't finish my today list of must do's.

Safe and Happy travels everyone !!!

I posted earlier but it didn't show up so here goes again...
Kind of a gloomy day today but it was a beautiful weekend! So happy that Phil Mickelson won the Master's Golf Tournament! He's so cool!
I am excited about meeting Linda (bikerchic) later this week! She is going to be boondocking in my apartment parking lot! So it should be fun! Can't wait to see her new RV and meet her dog, Rags. And my critters will have fun with new company visiting! Now just gotta clean house! I am taking Friday off from work (usually isn't anything to go in for on Fridays anyways) so we can drive up to Camping World and do some shopping and then show her around the lake! Maybe even find someone to give us a boat ride if it is nice out! Don't worry, I won't forget my camera!

Have a good day :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
