THURSDAY WITH MORE RAIN EXPECTED

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

THURSDAY WITH MORE RAIN EXPECTED

Postby Nasoosie » Thu Apr 08, 2010 4:11 am

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!!

Here I am up at the crack of dawn, as I have to go to the hospital today for my mammogram and a fasting blood test to make sure my statins aren't wrecking my liver. I will be very glad to get these things done, and then I need to make appointments with my doctor to get a pap test and folow up with blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and whatever. My most dreaded test, the (shudder) colonoscopy will have to be at a later date.

It's nice and toasty out here in the trailer, although I have no clue what it's like outside yet. We had some really heavy rains yesterday afternoon after Molly and I walked the property trails and visited the pond. No more trees seem to have come down in the last bad winds we have had, which was good to see. The pond is completely thawed, and had whitecaps due to the wind yesterday. I did look ahead at our weather for next week, and it sounds as if it will be VERY cold again. I will hate to stay inside, but, in order to save on electricity to keep this heater working out here, I might have to.

I drove my new truck yesterday, and they will detail it for me so I can sign the papers and might pick it up tomorrow. It will take me all afternoon to move all my campstuff out of it so I can vacuum it out and turn it in. What a beautiful vehicle it is! The best part of it is my backup camera which is right at bumper level----showing things outside in living color! It should make hitching much easier, and will allow me to see if anyone is behind me when I back up. As it is now, I can't see anything below the level of the tailgate, and small animals or kids could be in back of me. It also has a beeper if I get within 6 feet of something, which increases in speed as I get closer! Very neat thing to have. It also has some fancy controls on the steering wheel which allow me to connect my telephone via some computerized thingy so I can talk without ever touching my phone, just by voice controls, or some weird thing. I will have to play with that. My radio controls are also on the steering wheel, along with a 6 month trial subscription to Sirius Music. There are plug-ins for an ipod and a USB port on the dash by the fancy radio. It also has a built-in brake controler for my trailer, an electric sliding back window, telescoping rear view self-dimming side windows, self-dimming rearview mirror, automatic skid control, button touch 4 wheel drive high------let's see, what did I miss? Oh yes, adjustable pedals for more comfy seating capabilities, plus electrical seat adjusters. I can't wait to get it in my possession! I think I am going to try for a 5-year lower interest loan with 3,000 down rather than a 6-year loan with higher interest and nothing down. But I haven't really made up my mind about that as yet. I can hopefully replace that 3,000 into my teeny savings account when/if the school offers me some money to retire. I also have to come up with that 2,000 dollars I owe the IRS! I have two Chase credit card account checks with 0% interest until November, with a 4% fee for each check, which I can use for the government, I guess, and then be sure to get that Chase credit card paid off again as soon as I can. I so hate to have to do that, as it is now all paid off. Oh well. I wil have a few more pay days if I retire, before those bi-weekly checks come to an abrupt halt.....for the rest of my ife! Scary!

I have pretty much scratched the idea of going for a new trailer at this point. This one is fine for me and Molly, even if I have to live in it for an extended period of time in FL next winter. Then I can look for a slightly used one down there if I know I can afford one and if I think it would be nice to have more room. In the meantime, I am getting this one broken in and stocked for another season. I will have to plan to haul it somewhere now with my new truck!

Off to the house I go to take a hot bath and get ready to leave----I HATE not being able to have any coffee until after the blood test. I can get that done at about 7:30 they said, so I will bring a cup with me!

Happy Thursday to you all!

Good morning ladies!

Good luck on all your tests today, Soos! Why not go ahead and schedule an appt. for your colonoscopy while you're there? Just do it...

Your truck sounds like it's loaded with all the latest bells and whistles. I think you are smart to keep the TT you have...it's a nice one, and why add all that more debt?

It's before the crack of dawn here in Galveston, but I'm up and ready to get on the road as soon as dawn peeks. Plan to stop and visit Martha (Acadiamom) tonight, and Tomasina tells me that's a 7 hour drive, which probably means a little more for me. The wind has been whipping and rocking my mh all night. Could make for difficult driving if it keeps up all day. I'll call Martha about lunch time to give her a progress report.

If/when I come back to this area, I hope to have an inflatable kayak with me....great calm water kayaking trails in this state park. I'm so excited ...Birdie has gifted me with my very first bird identification book (Other than the old Golden book, my grandmother used  ). Now I can mess up my bird ids with some pretty fancy names. She will be so impressed with all the knowledge I've gained when she sees me again.

Ok, dawn's peeking....time to button up.

Soos, I'll bet that cup of coffee will taste mighty awesome when you're done with your tests.

Liz, I'll do my best at inhaling to keep the winds to a minimum.

Typical Colorado weather. Major snowstorm yesterday. Today it should be in the 60s. I'd love to be planning a trip for this weekend, but considering how far behind I am in schoolwork, housework, and taxes, I'll be hunkering down to get it all done.

Happy Thursday (and wishing it were Friday)!

Morning!

Soos, I feel for ya, hon. That first cup of coffee really does the trick, BUT those test are more important. Sure wish you'd schedule that colonoscopy, too. I haven't gotten the results of the polyp they removed from my colonoscopy last week yet, but I'm awfully glad I caught it early enough so if it is something serious I stand a good chance of beating it. Ok, off my soapbox. :) Oh a happier note, congrats on the new truck. Wow, you went for it all, huh?? Hope you enjoy many, many happy safe miles in it.

We've had extraordinary windy days here this past winter/spring. Very unusual for us to have so many days in a row like that. My yard has been a mess with branches and pinecones, not to mention all the bizillion pine needles that collect in my gutters, sidewalk and driveway. It's pouring rain as I type, started around 1 this morrning. I'm so ready for some sun and warmer temps!

Barbie, so glad that your furbaby's leg seems to be a non issue. Hope that heals up quickly and hope you get to feeling better soon. I have had a sinus thing going on for almost 2 months now. Just can't seem to shake it. It bothers my ears allot. I still blame using the Netti Pot for that.

I have a meeting with my finance guy this morning. Just the regular monthly coffee club group. Later I have to collect up garbage as tomorrow is collection day. Yard debris is picked up, too, and I do have some grass clippings in the can as I mowed the front yesterday between showers. The back yard is getting to look like a jungle but the ground is like walking on a wet sponge.

Have a great day. Remember: if you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours!

Good morning from sunny Texas, no wind here, so glad to see the sun, it's been overcast for the whole week since I arrived. And no humidity! My friend from CA got delayed in Dallas for several hours by thunder storms last night. Almost every flight out of the area was on the delayed list, must have been a zoo there. But on to bigger and better things, we are going downtown this morning to see Ladybird Lake, Congress Ave, the State Capital, and maybe the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum today.

'waving good-by' from Texas Liz! save trip home!

Hope y'all have a fun day too!

Well it's time I got on my soapbox! Neti Pots - why on earth would anybody want to do that to themselves. We have "stuff" in our noses for a reason. Wax in ears. The first thing Americans do when they have a baby is start rummaging in its ears. There are more chronic ear infections in America than anywhere else in the world. High Colonics - do they still do them? We are meant to have bacteria in our lower tracts for a reason. Now this is the one I fight over with Beth. When my temp is 103 I figure my body is making an enviroment unsuitable for infection. Americans want to reduce the temperature immediately. Okay how many people have I pissed off?

Oh, I am WITH you on this Sparkle,... totally. I cannot stand putting water up my nose. Yuk. I know there are those that swear by these little things, but not me. I always feel like I'm going to drown. Now don't go telling me I'm not doing it right,... I don't want to hear it.

Gloomy day here, going to rain,... so i'm right in the mood to grumble about neti pots.

Good morning all, it's been very windy here for several days but seems to be calm this morning and the sun is out. I personally prefer overcast but...it is at least more normal temps. I'm wasn't ready for the 80's yet.

Soos, I'd check with the nurse about what they mean by fasting, usually unless you are going to have surgery where they put you out you can have water and BLACK coffee. My DH has those tests for statins and he can have water and coffee just no food for 14 hours.

Sparkle, have to agree with all of what you said, but I like the Neti Pot and for me it really helps especially when I have a cold. Many of my friends with allergies seem to get a lot of relief and less sinus infections when they use them, but I realize many can't stand the feeling or the thought. I read a lot about what is in products and how they might cause health problems, and in several places I have read that one of the reason the kids have so many ear infections is because of air fresheners, dryer sheets and that liquid smelly stuff to soften clothes. Of course you can't convince most mothers of that! As for the colonics I think you would really have to trust the place as to their sanitation! I think many people are over medicated in this country mainly because it is easier and brings in more $$ to give pills than to tell patients to learn to eat well and exercise. I know that doesn't work for everyone I'm talking majority. I'd better stop or will get out my how bad our food is soap box!

Ha, and Sparkle was so sure she was causing trouble. I am all for lowering a fever, though.

But I'm all against the folks who feel their kids from baby forward need to be in a controlled environment. Do they realize those are the kids that will be most susceptible to asthma and allergies? We need to have all those germs, etc get into our bodies so we can counteract them. That's how most of our medicines and vaccines work, for goodness sake. By never being exposed, our bodies don't learn how to fight.

OK, making phone calls, etc this morning - got things to do - but trying to help Sparkle stir the pot. Oh, yeah, no neti pot for me either.

Morning everyone! Beautiful sunny day here in SoCal, supposed to be up around 80. It was almost 80 yesterday, but windy as all get out. I've been lazy this morning, Chewy hasn't even had her pack walk yet and it's almost 11. sigh. She has a class today, so I really need to get her out and walk and work on her commands so I don't embarrass the both of us. That's about all that's planned for today other than folding some clothes and giving myself a long overdue pedicure.

Soos, what kind of truck did you get? It sounds fabulous! Mine has that back-up warning, most of the time it's ok, but a pain in the keister when you're backing up a trailer. You can turn it off, but when you go forward to straighten out and then back into reverse it comes on again. Love the push button 4X4, it comes in handy at times.

Yeah, I have to agree with Beth about getting out and letting the body get used to all different kinds of germs out there. I remember when I first started my job with the state hospital for developmentally disabled. Those kids were so germy I spent the first year with a viscous sinus infection, after that I never got sick no matter what was going around. Now that I'm retired for 5 years, I seem to get more and more colds. Guess that means I need to jump in Hope and get out there! Don't know about the fever thing, tho, Sparkle. Fever means your body is fighting an infection, but who am I to argue with a person older and wiser than me??

Hope everyone has a great day and for those traveling, travel safe.

YIPPEEE! Mammo all done (new digital kind) and I got the ALL CLEAR/NORMAL certficate to prove it! I made my doc's appointment for my pap test and bone scan to see how much more bone I have lost in the past several years. I also have an appointment scheduled with my main doc to discuss blood test results and blood pressure....both appointments this month. As for colonoscopy, I will need to first see the doc who does them and talk to her about my immunity to most anesthetics-----especially the ones where you are awake, as in the butt reaming, but you are supposed to forget afterwards. WELL-----I don't care if I remember, or not, but if I am aware of anything, I will try to jump off the table and run away. Sedatives don't work for me, either. I have been given enough to 'put down a horse' they told me, and I was so anxious I was walking through the halls looking for the exit doors. Sigh. I will have to think long and hard about this. I know how extremely important it is for me to get it done---that's not the problem. The problem is sheer terror and psychotic fear of medical procedures that require any anesthetic.

When my doc showed up when I was in labor, I was out in the parking lot trying to knock myself out against a stone pillar out there! That was right after the nurse told me, "If you think it hurts now, just wait a while!" Amazingly, it never got any worse, and that nurse got fired on the spot! By the time I had my son, I waited at home until his face was sticking out by the time I got to the hospital! No problem at home where I was in control and had no one's forceful, angry hand shoved up me to tell me "You have a long way to go!"

Someone asked what kind of truck I got----Ford F150 4X4 off the road model with the biggest engine----same as I have now, and same color so my camper top will match. Newer models will haul over 11,000 pounds, properly fitted, as mine is. I ordered it with what I wanted on it. In addition to what I mentioned in my earlier morning post, it also has a remote starter and touch-pad entry so I can't lock myself out----a feature I have now, too, and LOVE. I am sure there are other things----like the bed liner and mud guards. It will take me a while to learn all about the new gadgets!

I have my old truck all cleaned out and ready to make the trade when they can fit me in They are transferring the camper top, bed liner, and mudguards as part of the sale deal, so it will take some mechanic time. I can wait, as I am not going anywhere else for the rest of my vacation, anyway.
The sun is out, so I am going for another walk before the rains come.

Well it is afternoon now but thought I would still drop by.

It has rained, the wind is blowing and now the sun is peaking out...hope it stays dry for the carnival today. It rained a lot yesterday but we still had customers...not me though, if it was raining I would not take my kids to a carnival. Call me a fair weather friend :)

We went for a 25 minute walk this morning but it was so cold and windy we turned around and came back to the motor home. Just finished a lunch of liverwurst and avocado...it was yummy.

We start work today at 1:00 again. If the weather stays nice we will stay open till 7:00 or 8:00 tonight.

Yesterday, Theresa (half of the show manager team) asked me if I had a valid drivers license (you see many who work for the carnival don't) and I said yes. She asked me if I would be interested in driving one of the companies vans from site to site. I would get paid for doing that. I told her I would talk to Ron and let her know today. Well I discussed it with Ron and we decided that this was the Lord opening another door for us to make some more money and so I am going to do that. It will be sad that we won't be riding together, but right now the extra money would come in handy especially since we had very little income from Dec to March. We will caravan together so that will be good. So today I will turn in my drivers license so they can run a check on it...there should be no problem since I have no accidents or tickets on my license.

Today I am a little tired and my tummy has been upset. Not sure what is going on but sure do hope I feel better soon.

If you are a praying person I would appreciate prayer that the person that still owes us $900 from a job Ron did would feel compelled to send us the money he owes us. It would make things a lot easier for us. Thanks.

Well I need to get ready to go to work so will get off here now. Sure hope everyone has a great rest of the day.

Good afternoon ladies. YUK neti pots. Self induced waterboarding. I do agree with letting kids catch some germs. They do need to have their immune systems up and running before starting school. Those kids that don't miss a lot of school in the beginning of the year.

Soos, your new truck sounds great. It certainly has all the bells and whistles. I have controls on my steering wheel also and absolutely love it. No more leaning over to play with the radio or CD player. It also has buttons to tell me about how things are functioning, such as oil grade. (If it is 50% used, 60% and so on.) I think is wise at this point to wait on the new trailer. This one works for you, plus you have the new truck topper, so waiting is wise. There will always be used trailers out there.

Lenora, the only way to cure the blahs is to GET OUT THERE and have fun. (No charge for that medical advise :D ;) )

It's time to go to bed, but wanted to say hi from Iowa! The rain is gone and it was a sunny, but breezy day. It was 34 last night, so was a chilly walk with the boys this morning. Not used to the cold, so forgot to wear gloves :o The mh is facing the lake here, so I opened the curtains this morning and the sun reflecting off of the water was so beautiful! Muddy and wet around the mh so hope the sunny 70 degree day tomorrow dries it out. I went over to my mom's for lunch to visit her and my house plants ;) My mom and the plants are doing well. Mom's hair is longer, so not used to that, but she will probably go shorter here soon. We walked over to my brother's house to visit. He was in the hosp a week or so ago. They had to remove fluid from his lungs and change his meds. He thinks a combo of his meds caused water retention. The Drs haven't figured out anything, so it could be. He has lost a lot of weight and looks so different and I just saw him a couple of weeks ago when they came to FL for my niece's softball tournament. Mom had a long handle for her grass clippers that she wanted me to put together for her so did that before heading back to the cg. Finished filling out the divorce papers so will head out to get them notarized so soon to be XDH will transfer that money into my bank account. I need it for my new mh! Will mail the papers off to the courthouse in SD and wait for the final decree to arrive. Lots of running around to do so may not get on here in the morning again :(

There is the "New Healthy Thread" to share all of the health stuff on, if you girls are interested. It is funny to hear so many against neti pots  I prefer a lot of the more natural remedies, including the neti pot. I use one daily with filtered water and non iodized sea salt and it helps me stay healthy. It flushes out the pollens so helps me manage my allergies. It also flushes out viruses that might otherwise grow up there, so I have only had one minor cold each winter for the past 3 winters. No sinus infections since I started using it. I love Dr. Oz and he uses one!!! I haven't ever had a flu shot and have managed to avoid catching that...knock on wood! I'm sure most of you get one. I agree on the fever thing, unless it is too high. Probiotics or yogurt are important to your overall health, I feel and less antibiotics.

Ali...prayers for you two for a change of heart for the person who owes you that money! Have you thought of small claims court...or at least threatening it? I threatened a landlord once with small claims court and had my deposit the same day. You never know! Congrats on the driving job. Heck ya! Easy money :D

Barbie...hope you are feeling better! The thought of golfing should help :) Glad Zoey is doing better all the time :D

Soos...Your new truck sounds AWESOME!!! Sounds like it could make you dinner, too  My daughter has anxiety issues with some medical procedures, too. She get an RX for Valium to take before she goes and it helps immensely! She is much like you in that things don't work that well with her, like zylocain, and always has to have extra. Maybe the valium would work for you, too....Just a thought!

Good night all!
