Maiden Voyage

Ladies,

I had a wonderful time on my first camping trip in my RV with my cousin, Joe. I traveled to Chicot State Park in Bayou Chicot, Louisiana. The weekend was beautiful and campground full! It did rain late Saturday evening, but the sun was shining in the morning. It was green and some flowers blooming. This was a good practice run for my trip April 15 to the RVing Women/Texas Ramblin' Roses Chapter Rally, which will be my second camping trip in my RV.

I did have some anxiety about backing up in my assigned spot. :o It turned out okay. The spot I was assigned had a road in front of it. So, I drove in that direction, even though it said no entrance/wrong way. By doing this, I just had to back up into my assigned spot. Otherwise, I would have to turn and back up (more stress for me). The RV spots are close together (or at least I think so :D ). Other campers around the area told me everyone that gets that spot does the same thing I did. I was glad to hear that I was already thinking like an RVer. :P It did take me 20 plus minutes to back it up under my carport, but I did it.

The camground had several hiking trails, a lake, swimming pool (not open) and great paved roads for biking. The campsites were paved, had cooking grill, fire pit water and electric. There were two dump stations in the South Shore. There is an area for camping called the North Shore. I didn't have time to check out the North Shore. I would go back again.

I took a few photos and will share them with you. I hope you enjoy viewing them.

I tried to look at your photos and I got Yahoo's sign-in page all written in Japanese! I'll try again later... Sounds like you have a nice time tho and some good experience with your new rig. It's all practice, practice, practice!!

Maybe that's what mine said but in Japanese! Gotta brush up on my Japanese symbols one of these days...

Can you post the pics on Photo Bucket and transfer them here?

I am uploading them to photobucket, now.

I did change the link to my flickr account. Try to see if it works.

Thanks.

Much better!! Great photos! You take photos like I do; interesting trees, logs, close ups of wildflowers, etc. I always like to find unique and interesting things in the woods to take pics of. Nice to see leaves on the trees, ours are just starting to get buds on them up here. Can't wait for them to get full foliage! I love hiking thru the woods!

Thanks for sharing your maiden voyage! Looks like you're off to a great start!

If you don't want your pictures public, please don't post your password on a public forum like this. Anyone can get it - and therefore you just made the pictures public.

That said, we'd love to have you put the pictures into the post when you can (and therefore not need to give out the password.) But that's your choice.

Neat first voyage. Just remember, everything takes practice and backing up takes practice and then some. Remember learning to parallel park? I don't think some people ever got the hang of that. I was good at it, but just the other day when I was talking to Jean about needing to drive her truck - I said, I wouldn't want to parallel park it - would take me practice as it's different. And I still need to get out (well, don't know about need - but totally believe in getting out) after I start backing into a site and do a quick walk around - where are branches, anything that might cause trouble, etc. And sometimes I do that walkaround again if I want to be near that branch, etc, but not crash into it :) You did good!

I wonder why some of us can see her pics and others can't. Maybe because I have my Photobucket login stored in my computer and it automatically puts my password in her space and it doesn't work that way???
