ATTN: all ladies in the PNW!

Postby AlmostThere » Sat Apr 03, 2010 4:16 pm

As Liz and Sharon (Sprinter), will be in the pacific northwest (PNW) in late June/early July, is there anyone interested in having a GTG?
Christine, I have PMd you but you haven't been on the forum in a while and haven't taken my PM as I wanted to ask you about Grayland Beach SP.
Marda, I know you are more familiar than I of the area up that way. I PMd you, too, but it got lost in cyberland. ;)
Kris, is that something you could swing?
Ali and Ron will be carnivaling... :D
Who else am I missing? I know there are Oregon gals and Northern CA ladies that would be fun to meet up with, too. Or anyone else that will be in the area around that time?!
Please respond!

Sorry.. sometimes I am all over the place and dont get back to the forum like i should... Yes Grayland is one of my favorate places! its quite busy during the summer time, so reservatons need to be made early...

Cape Disapointment is another good park, although I have never been there....

Tiadnapam is a great park ( never camped there either but have been there) its located East on Hwy 12 just outside of Morton.. they just built 100 new sites.. very pretty there....

someone need to decide on dates.. I have an old dog i would have to board or have someone watch, so need some time to set up arrangments...

Hey, there you are, Christine!
I just did a search on Morton and see that right on the way there you would have to pass Mayfield Lake. Do you know anything about them? Here is their website.

Lenora - Would the gtg be near the ocean. I checked the site on Mayfield Lake and that looked neat. What would the dates
be? I'm in the central coast of CA area. I love to be somewhere on July 4. A couple of years ago we were in Puallyup (sp?), WA

Thanks,
Linda

Sounds like fun! There are 4 state parks at the ocean....Pacific Beach w/31 E sites, Ocean City w/29 WES sites, Twin Harbors w/49 WES sites and Grayland w/60 WES sites. There is a very nice private park at Westport (American Sunset RV) which has about 100 sites and gives AAA, AARP and Good Sam discounts ($28.80 +tax). There is also Seaquest state park near Castle Rock w/16 WES sites and 18 WE sites.

I guess we have to decide if we want to be on the ocean or inland. I'd prefer inland over ocean but will go with what everyone else likes. I PMd WickedLady as I think she might be more up to speed on camping areas. I haven't been to any of the ones mentioned.

I already have reservations for the 4th of July at Millersylvania state park... there are spaces left there. No sewer hook ups but a nice park.
Seaquest isnt that nice of a park.. i drove thru one sunday and didnt like it at all. i think the trailers are crammed close together you can touch the next persons...

twin harbors is horrible... again trailers are crammed together... other sites are tent sites ....
American Sunset sucks..way to big.. to many there.. i am sure everyone would be spread out...

Mayfield lake is medium size park..to get down to the waters edge its quite steep, nice spots tho... most sites looked pretty nice and i think they have a central meeting place IE kitchen on the upper level.. ( i see its full over the holidays)

Mossyrock is full except for acouple of sites.... ( nice park) open with lots of spaces

Taidnapam has sites available ...

thats just my openion on these parks.. what i dont like someone may like .... i have taken sundays drives to check out the parks around here.. so if you go to
http://www.parks.wa.gov/ you can seek out where you would like to go, but its full over the 4th of july.

I cant go back to back camping... i have to pay out $60 for dogcare and its alittle expensive for me... I am going to the beach the last week of April then the 4th to Millersylvania( again . providing i can get care for the old dog) I wouldnt be able to go back out till Aug and take my chances of trying to get a reservaton someplace... Campgrounds are pretty full here during the summer.

Should we try for a 4th of July window at Millersylvania, then? What site are you reserved for, Christine/

You all decide and agree on when and where, and I'll do my best to get there. If we can't all get together at the same time, maybe I can meet up with some of you individually while I'm there.

And I'll do the same. It'll be more toward the end of July for me to get there. I'm not leaving Texas until mid June and I have a lot of ground to cover before I get to Washington. Sure would love to meet you all though. Thanks for thinking of us :)

Love,
Sharon

I don't like to travel on Holiday weekends. A later date would work better for me but if you do the 4th of July I would just drive down for the day.
I like American Sunset at Westport. Yes, it is big but the sites are large and separated nicely. We would probably be more likely to get sites together as they have so many. They are very pet friendly and there is a nice wooded area to walk dogs. There is a boardwalk along the ocean and a nice beach.

I'll be floating around the PNW, May 13-June 13th Richland WA, Got the last monthly site in the Tri-cities . Everyone is working out at Hanford Nucular site and taking up all the monthly sites in Pasco-Kennewick and Richland. After that not sure yet possibly Puyallup ( Pew-al-up) Elks club or Monroe Thousand trails park. 4th of July we like to head to Ocean Shores for family time at our cousins and waiting for new granddaughter to be born in July so will probably spend alot of time in Puyallup since the kids live in Federal Way which is close.

REMINDER: Fireworks are legal in Washington state. I can only assume that campgrounds allow setting them off, but don't know. If you have pets in your camper and they are terrified of fireworks, it will be a nightmare. For that reason I won't camp on the 4th.

How about setting something up for the weekend following the 4th? I should be there for sure by then.
