GOOD MORNING AVA AND ALL!

Glad your budget is working itself down to manageable, Ava! That's always a good feeling!

Yesterday was one of the most perfect days I have ever spent up here in the north country-----one of those rare, sunny, very warm (high 70s), bug-free days! I worked in the yard most all day, and tried to prepare for getting my trailer out of its winter garage and back here by the house so it can become my summer house. By tomorrow, or later this afternoon, unless I go to visit my daughter about an hour and a half from here, I will haul it out! IF, that is, I can get my truck with its dead battery jumped and recharged today! I stupidly played music all day yesterday as I was working in the yard, and then when I went over to visit Issy for a late afternoon cocktail hour. When I got ready to come home, all the truck did was click-click-click. She and I tried to jump-start it, but, after a few drinkies, who knows if we were doing it right, or not! We might not have had the cable clamps adjusted quite right. Anyway, it didn't start! Sooooo....I will call for help this morning, and hope I can get the show on the road again. Issy drove me home and dropped me and Molly at the end of the driveway in the mud pit, which we walked through to get to the house!

I took down my tent yesterday afternoon---always a battle to get an unfolded tent back into its original bag, but I did it! I also took some more pics of it with its fly sheet on and the front canopy up, and the truck disconnected from it. It's very easy to disconnect so you can drive the truck away and leave your tent standing. (Assuming you haven't run your battery into the ground, of course!) I will get those new pics downloaded and posted later this morning, but first I need to deal with my dead truck.

To answer a few questions about my truck/tent setup----yes, my camper top can be opened up from the inside, and the tailgate can also be closed up for the night, if I so choose. But the main reason for the tent addition is to allow breezes and to have a bug-free environment to cook, pee in my bucket, lounge in my lounge chair, and use my computer at a table. (If WiFI is available) If it's pouring rain, I don't know if the limited-coverage fly sheet will keep it dry in the tent, or not, but, if that happens for a long period of time, it's time to go home! I would just throw everything into the back of the truck and head out! I consider the tent to be just a 'spare room' for the truck camper top! I still need to order a doughnut to go between the two openable windows in the camper top and the truck cab.....but I want to wait for my new truck before I order one to make sure I get the right size!

Latest update on Hope and Lily is that Hope is doing fine out in the big woods! They are now over 300 yards from their den at the base a huge white pine. When Lynn and Sue visited them yesterday, the two bears were on the move from the first white pine to this new one. Hope was able to move along and follow Lily, with her Mom's help, and she then climbed up to a branch of the white pine. She was also able to climb back down with the help of Mom's coaxing. One of the latest pictures of them out of the den is now my desktop on this computer, and it's so cute that I can't help but chuckle every time I see it--Lily is on her back under a rotten log, covered with bits of wood chips, and Hope is sitting with huge eyes, staring at her mother! Pricelsss picture!

The sun is coming up nicely again today, and I can't wait to get back outside to see how much more snow has melted. Once the pile where I want to park the trailer goes down a bit more so I can replace the sod removed by the snowplow, I am good to go! I am going to call the Ford dealersip again today, also....I want my new truck!

Thanks for the help with the derivation of 'Good' Friday, those of you who chimed in. I guess the God and Good terminology makes a lot of sense, at least to me.

Poor Alice, still waiting for your RV! I am so hoping that when you finally get it, you will find the perfect spot for camping and that Abby will become the perfect leash-dog! At least you can be happy that Abby isn't mean toward other dogs---just wants to play! If you could find a campground with an enclosed dog-play area, you could let her loose their with other dogs every day until she wearts herself to a frazzle! Many KOAs have such pens, and I have found them wonderful for Molly. Even having her be able to go loose alone in there while you throw things for her to chase would be good for her. You could have 5 cups of hot coffee from a thermos while she runs her little a&& off!

I hope you all have a great Saturday, and that your weather is even half as nice as ours. Coffee is hot and Hazlenut, so come have a sip!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Thanks for the coffee, Ava and Soos! Mmmm...hazlenut is my fave ;) I love the feeling of getting bills paid off, Ava! I just hate the feeling of having them to pay off, so now I strive to try not to have any, other than the normal stuff, if possible. I was thinking you should change your name to AVATAR now...powerful...and I love that movie  Soos...I hope you get your battery jumped and charged today. Just don't seem too anxious about the new truck so they don't screw you on the deal. I got a good deal on my Pacifica by telling the sales gal that I didn't NEED a new vehicle...I just would LIKE one. They wouldn't give me the price I wanted so I walked. Two days before the end of the month I got a call from the saleslady, asking me to come talk. She said she needed to sell 3 more cars by the end of the month. I spelled my "deal" out on paper, so they couldn't trick me with their lingo, and handed it to her to give to her boss....You know they have no power to make decisions on their own! She came back from his office and said we had a deal. Man, was that a great feeling :!: The truck tent sounds cool! I've seen some and thought, what a great idea!

Woke up to a thunderstorm this morning here in southern TN. I was texting with my SIL last night. Asked her if I could run errands with her this morning so I could get a chance to spend some time with her before she leaves for MI this afternoon. It was all planned when my brother called and said not to arrive until 11:30 or 12! He said it has been a hectic week and they wanted to sleep in. He sounded a bit ouchy, so I told him that if it was a bad time, we could go on and not stop. He still wants us to come so hoping he can sleep off the grouchies  Our power went off a little while ago. Maybe I better go out and see if the surge protector needs to be reset. At least it has stopped raining for now. Maybe a good time to take the boys out for our morning walk, too. There's a nice little creek that runs next to the campground. Gizmo wanted to jump in it last night. "You know who" didn't like the idea

Well, I've had my Kashi Cinnamon Harvest cereal and banana and even a cup of Constant Comment tea. The hazlenut coffee will have to wait for another day. Oh great! Here is the rain again! Waited too long  Have a great day everyone!!!

Waking up in Ft. Collins this morning. Beautiful. Jess and I had our morning stroll. Now it's time for Cheerios and coffee. In between hikes I'll be catching up on long overdue homework. (Or not...) I'm in a loop with 20 empty sites, but last night about 9:00 some tenters set up in the site right next to mine. I don't get that, but whatever.

Have a happy Saturday, everyone!

Good morning from Port Lavaca! I posted some more pics from yesterday's adventures in the GTG thread. Sure wish you all could be here with us....now wouldn't that be the mother of all gtgs?

I'm running the generator awhile to charge up the laptop and cell phone batteries. I'm sipping my coffee....made an omelet with spinach, zucchini, and cheese earlier. Roe and I have been on two short walks. I've been hoping for at least one pretty sunrise here, but it's still too cloudy or foggy today. Maybe tomorrow.

Good Saturday wishes to all.

Looks like another pretty day here in sunny SoCal. Had great plans today, take Chewy for her pack walk, go to a Zumba class at the gym, get some housework done, take the bike out for a ride. So far I've missed it all and only have gotten so far as to take my shower and wash my hair. Sigh. Just can't seem to get my butt in gear lately, stuck in neutral. Maybe I should stop reading Soos' posts, she makes me tired just reading it! Wishing nice weather for all and good roads for those traveling.

Dropping in before heading off to work. The carnival was canceled yesterday due to high winds. Today is looking a lot better with the sun peeping out every once in awhile.

Hope everyone has a great day! Need to get out the door in a few minutes.

Good afternoon ladies. another lovely day here, a little cooler than yesterday and glad that the wind has died down. Not much on the agenda today. I spent most of the morning on poop patrol, with "help" from the culprits . I was hoping they would play with their neighbor friends, but I guess what I was doing was far more entertaining. All the bending and foreign sounds and all. :o  I have all the recycling bagged up and ready to take to the site, so will get to it this weekend sometime. Have laundry to do as well, but as long as I have clean underwear, I can pass. I know TMI (too much info).

Take care all, drive safely if traveling and you gals at the GTG, not too much laughing. Linda

Soos, why are you going to spend the summer in your trailer instead of your house? You sure picked a great week for your vacation! Glad that you are getting lots of things done this week outside! Can you post that photo of Lily and Hope that you mentioned? Would love to see that!

The best time to buy a vehicle is at the end of the month or end of the year because they have quotas to fill to earn their bonuses. I do like you, Linda, and do my homework before I go in and have it all written down when I get there. I know what my car is worth for trade-in, I know what the car I am looking at is worth, and I offer them the difference. If they don't take it, I say I don't need the car that bad and walk away. They always go to the boss (I think they actually go to the bathroom) to supposedly get approval. I bought a car on New Years Eve many years ago and ended up with exactly the deal I wanted after a lot of back and forth (I never changed my deal the whole time!). I couldn't feel sorry for the sales guy at all since he had a photo on his desk of his 40+ foot cruiser on Lake Minnetonka!

This morning I noticed that my ferret, Buster, didn't want to come out of his cage. I lifted him out and set him on the floor. As he walked, I noticed he was limping on his back right leg. I checked it all over and didn't see any obvious injuries (sometimes they get their toes caught on things in the cage). I have a 5 foot tall cage with 4 levels, so I blocked off one level for him and put his food, water, bed and a litter box all on that level so he doesn't have to do any climbing at all. Tonight I checked on him and he is still not using that leg. I palpated it and felt a little swelling on his knee. I will see how he does tomorrow and may have to bring him in to the vet this week to have it looked at. if it doesn't get better Poor little guy!

Hope you all had a good day so far! I had about 5 haircuts today so not so busy which made for a lot longer feeling day even tho it was only 6 hours instead of 8. But the tips were really good today! So I bought groceries after work! Yay! Now I get to eat this week!

My dad and I will probably go out somewhere tomorrow night for Easter dinner.
I hope you all have a great Easter day! Don't eat too many chocolate eggs and bunnies!

Barbie!!! Poor Buster! Animals do have accidents, too. Maybe he fell. I have been so shook up tonight that I had to have a beer! My niece and I were out walking the boys and got attacked by a pit bull!!! They have an invisible fence, but the dogs ran right through it. I could tell it was on because they were crying and shaking their heads, but one of them charged us and kept circling us, trying to get my dogs! I was screaming NO at him so loud that my throat is raw!!! The people finally came out and the chick picked up the dog that wasn't attacking and said the other one just wanted to play...as he was biting Rags! We were just trying to keep my dogs away from his teeth while I was screaming at the people to get their dog. I have never been so scared!!! The guy finally got him and I was telling the chick that they need to keep them under control and not that invisible fence. She started getting defensive and saying she is doing the best she can. That did it! Apparently, they shouldn't have dogs if that's the best they can do!!! Her dog did bite a hole through Rags' ear. I asked her if her dog is up to date on shots and she said she buys the stuff and gives them the shots herself... HELLO!!! Probably because they would bite the vet! Anyways. ..my brother called the police and the officer went over to talk to them. He told me to call animal control on Mon. He was going to file a report with them so they will know about it. If they don't have shots, they should be quarantined. So much for our relaxing walk!

Wow, that is scary!! I am glad you reported that! Invisible fencing is not for dogs like that! I hope your dog is OK. Poor Rags! Did you have a vet look at it? It will probably get infected (most bite wounds do) so you might at least want to pick up some antibiotic cream from a vet to put on it. I am glad you didn't get bit! That sure didn't make your day! So sorry to hear that!
I think it is illegal to give your own dog rabies shots without a license. It depends on the state tho, I think. Invisible fencing is for dogs who like to wander, not for viscious dogs, who don't care about a little pain in order to attack someone. They are trained to ignore pain. Hopefully, something will be done about it before someone else (or another dog) is attacked and injured, or worse!

[b]It is a small hole and I cleaned it with peroxide. Gizmo was licking it for him tonight, too. Was considering putting an earring in it, but then even more people would think he's a girl. ..lol. Tough situation since I'm just passing through. I told her she was going to pay my vet bill if Rags needs to go. Hope we don't need to go. If we do, she better get down there and pay the bill because I won't trust her to reimburse me. I will let you know what happens on Monday. For now I am still angry! I need to seriously pray about this!!! [b]

What an awful experience for you and Rags Linda. You are lucky the people were at home and that the dogs didn't kill yours or attack you and your niece. It is hard to believe people just don't understand the necessity of keeping any breed of dog under control. I'm glad your brother called the police and do follow through with your call to animal control. I hope their dogs have to be quarantined in a vets office and not be allowed to stay at home, maybe that will send a message to the owners. Keep a close eye on the injury and check with a vet, they might want to give a tetanus shot. Hugs to you both.

I went to bed and woke up this morning with flashbacks of the dog attack! Things don't usually affect me that much, but I felt like I was going to have a panic attack this morning! I was very weak and shaky. I think it affected me more than Rags! I will be calling animal control in the morning.
