TSUNAMI WARNING-----

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

TSUNAMI WARNING-----

Postby Nasoosie » Thu Apr 01, 2010 5:25 am

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

We have a tsunami predicted for Lake Champlain today! All shore-line homes have been evacuated, and all lowland residents are asked to seek high ground. It's caused by the 14.5 earthquake experienced by the midwest last night, and all bodies of water around the globe have been issued warnings! If you live near a lake or sizable body of water of any kind, get out your life jackets, row boats, canoes, kayaks, and anything that will float!

My parking lot is already filled to capacity with cars and trucks of all sizes and shapes, and the people are filling every nook and cranny of this house. Some are stationed out on the upstairs balconies, wiaitng to see the rush of water. The news reporters are saying that Whiteface Mountain has a steady line of traffic up its highway to the summit, where there are live TV cameramen getting ready to shoot this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Those of you who remembered to say RABBITS this morning, first thing, will be spared from this catastrophic event, so the weathermen are saying. In the meantime, I am preparing coffee and toast for all those poor souls who have fled to my high grounds. Of course, my pond will surround my house later in the day, but I have my canoe all set to venture forth and examine the damage.

I am now off to serve the snacks and coffee for all those curious sight-seers!

Away from the news as I am...you know, reading a book instead of fooling with satellite TV, you had me going there. Until of course the line about "Rabbits," which amazingly I had remembered this morning and thought of you. So greatly relieved of being spared this disaster, I could read the rest with mirth.

The sun hasn't peeked up yet, but I'm having my coffee and an English muffin with peanut butter & a banana... in anticipation of an early start. Expect a long, but hopefully pleasant drive around Houston to the west today, arriving in Port Lavaca sometime this afternoon. From there I'll post pictures under the GTG thread.

The weather radio says a front with wind & rain will be coming through East Texas Fri-Sat. Come if it must....neither wind nor rain, sleet nor snow (FL GTG) will keep us sistahs from having a great time together. See you there!

Good one Soos!

So far here at school I've had the usual "you're shoe is untied" one from a 6th grader,... (couldn't have been as i'd double knotted them before leaving home! ) of course my housemate kathy stuffed something into the toe of my sneaker,... well, that was after i called her to get up and told her it was already 7 a.m. .... talk about freaking out about over-sleeping!

Then when I got here to the computer lab my mouse wouldn't work. Usual fix is to unplug the connectiion to hard drive and re-plug. Did that. No luck. Finally I realized there wasn't any red glow from under the mouse. Someone had put a sticky note over the "eye".... no clue as to the villian.

So it's shaping up to be a fun day,..... :D

Hope you all enjoy April Fool's Day 2010!

Yikes, Cedar. You've had a full morning already. So far my only "joke" was payroll telling me that my check would be delayed another month. Yeah right, ha ha.

Half day of school, then we have a four day weekend. I'm off in the rv. I promise, promise, promise I'll take pictures.

Great one, Soos.

And for any who haven't gone to the Google home page - do so - they always do a good April Fools - and it's fun to click on the link and read the story behind it.

Morning all.

I'll bet you've been hugging that one to yourself for a week, haven't you Soos? I wondered when I got to 14.5. I didn't think it went that high! Keep up the good work.

Cedar, I read your post and decided to do the mouse trick on my co-worker this morning. That was funny! She was unplugging and replugging everything on her computer! She was getting so frustrated that I finally told her to look at her mouse. She said "no, that's not it." I told her to look at it anyways and she finally did and then she almost threw it at me! Hilarious! Thanks for the idea!

I am so glad it is Apri! I guess our family is not doing anything for Easter so my dad and I might go out to eat somewhere. Ever since my mom passed away, our family doesn't get together for anything anymore.

My boss from the salon got back in town yesterday from a hair show, and I had left a note on her desk about my current pay situation , so I will no doubt be discussing it with her tonight when I go in to work. So we'll see how that goes! I am suppose to work there all day tomorrow but if I am not getting paid, I won't.

Have a great day!

A great one there Soos. Would have had me too until I saw the 14. something. Sparkle is right, the scale doesn't go that high.

I over slept this morning due to not being able to get to sleep until around 4:00 AM so my first word was not rabbits - and not printable here.

It is a beautiful morning and I'm so looking forward to meeting Beth today and seeing Jean again.

I would have been posting some photos of all the things blooming here as spring finally hit suddenly but my laptop with all my camera software is in in the shop. No word yet on problem. It is still under warranty so that is good. I've had it for a couple of years and bought it used (floor model at local Apple dealer) and never had a problem until last week. I have a nice desktop that I rarely use so it is getting my attention again until the laptop returns.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day from the finally sunny south.

Good one Soos. I would have been right up on your roof with everyone else as I forgot to say Rabbits this morning. I would have my inflatable kayak filled and would accompany you on your survey as well. So glad there is no such thing as a 14.5 earthquake. :D

It's another beautiful day here, going to be about 80 and sunny. Very windy though, but I'll take over cold.

Enjoy your April Fools day everyone. Linda

No rabbits for me either. I was up most of the night with drinking the gunk for my colonoscopy this morning. I took the 6:45AM appt so was home by 8:30. The Dr found a polyp and removed it. Now I have the fun of waiting for the test results. I am happy that I got in and it was found this early!! I had no signs of anything going on. What a wake up call! So ladies, get'er done!

I'm still a tad groggy and as hungry as I thought I was I barely got down a bowl of oatmeal and a 1/2 cup of coffee.

Looks to be a nice day so far, but wind, rain and stormy weather is coming tonight. They are predicting 70 mph winds on the coast, so that means people will be flocking to go watch the high wave action etc.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good one, Soos! I have been in eathquakes, having lived near the San Andreas fault line, so I thought you made a typo and put a 1 in front of the 4. Then I was thinking...Is there such a thing as a tsunami on lakes? Then I noticed the warning being around the globe! Guess I was analyzing too much before the rabbits thing, even. I really like the mouse trick, though! Don't think the soon to be ex would see much humor in it, but may try it tonight anyway...for me; -)

Glad the colonoscopy is over with! It's good you got the early appt, after all. I'm due, but will have to make sure I can do it in the office. It took forever to pay off my first one...even with ins...since I had to have it done at the hosp. Then it goes toward the deductible. May have to save up for medical stuff now that I will be single.

Oh, BTW...we left FL this morning. I woke up at 5:30 and was ready to go early, but it was foggy and kept getting thicker by the minute. We had to wait long enough that we decided we might as well top off the propane before we left. Got to say goodbye again to a couple of friends so it was worth the wait. Still left in fog, but it wasn't long before the sun won out. MH thermometer got up to 80. I drove the car part way, then drove the mh. I much prefer the mh as the car hurts my back and my butt cheek! Can't seem to get comfy in it. We called ahead to a couple of Walmarts and the lady at the Ozark, AL WM was very nice and said we could stay. We spent some $ in their fine store and had some rotisserie chicken, which was wonderful, and some fixins. Relaxing a bit before we take the boys for a walk. Busy hwy so will see if there's a place to walk around back. Would like to get as close as we can to my brother's tomorrow so we can get into Clarksville, TN early on Sat. Then maybe we can get out on the river with him and do some paddlin'...barring any tsunamis. He said he wants to fish, too. I will give you an update tomorrow eve. Soos...maybe you can start the coffee again in the morning since I'm busy! But please...no practical jokes; -)

Hey, Lenora - glad your procedure is over and done with! Did you try and think of your 'gunk' as fine wine?

Towards the end I was like a kid. Plugged my nose, took a deep breath and drank down 8 oz at a time, quickly took a sip of lemonade to help cut the aftertaste...and then tried not to heave it back up again. I did drink only half of the 2 liter bottle. The prep nurse told me that after drinking at least half, and if I was only passing yellowish looking water, then I was clean and didn't need to drink any more. So that's what I did. The check-in nurse this morning wasn't too happy when I told her that when she quizzed me on everything that went into my mouth since Tuesday evening. But I was right as no one said any different and I got copies of the pictures and all looks clean. I was amazed that I got to see the polyp in one shot, then the little clip they placed to close the incision. On the internet and on TV they show the Dr placing an electricial loop around the polyp and then tightening it, then turning on the electricity and burning it off and shut. Not sure why he didn't do that. The only thing I can think of is perhaps he went deeper in what he removed to make sure he got it all. At any rate, I think I was darn lucky to not put it off any longer and catch it early.
