PICTURES OF LAST DAY OF MARCH 2010

Postby Nasoosie » Wed Mar 31, 2010 3:05 pm

I just took a few pictures around my place on this final day of March, and, I am hoping, the beginning of a wonderful warming trend for the rest of my vacation! As you can see, the sunshine is yet to show!

Image
There's the party barn, still waiting for the first campfire of the season!

Image
And here's my infamous dome which I plan to turn into a screen house one of these centuries! That yellow electric cord goes from the barn to my trailer, to keep my batteries charged all winter. This part of the yard with a southern-facing hill is nearly snow-free now! The clawfoot cast iron bathrub next to the barn, which used to be for icing down beer kegs, will have a new use this year----it will become a hot tub! Some friends of mine say they dug a shallow, but expansive pit in which to build a fire, and then set their tub over it. They light a fire, fill the tub with a hose, spread the fire out, wait for it to die down to a nice glow, and in they get! I am dying to try that out! (With a hoe to rake the fire out if it gets too hot!)

Image
These poor crocuses, if the sun would come out, would be open and so pretty! At 36 degrees, and cloudy and grey, however, they are tightly closed!

Image
The back yard is melting down to the grass, at last! I see that the plow driver took a ton of gouges out of my lawn this year, and it will take some hauling and tamping of sod to get it back in shape. The best wild blueberries behind the house took a beating, also. Sigh!

Image
The road to the pond should open up after some sunny days, too. There are some large trees which will need to be cleared as soon as I can drive a chainsaw down to them and cut my way through.

Image
There she is----waiting patiently to get out!

Image
The driveway is looking VERY good!

Just waiting for some sunshine now!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Yike - I can't believe how much snow you still have ! Even with the snow, I see the signs of spring :D
Your place looks so peaceful - I'm sure it's just lovely.
I took some pictures today too -

Doesn't really show "spring" - but you can see the green of the grass & you can see the Easter Bunny has arrived a little early :D

The Googly Eyes were out today too !!! Now that's a sure sign of spring - HA !

Oh Soos, I don't think your driveway looks VERY good at all. But if you say it does, I hope going in and out is okay for you. The pictures of all that snow yet, was so depressing for me to see. I have enjoyed two days, with sun shining and all snow and ice gone from this area. I felt so bad for you. I was beginning to get really down with my weather situation here, and now see an end, yours is still a ways off.

I sure hope that next winter sees you south somewhere, where you can have fun, and enjoy life, not just put up with each day and the hardships, just to survive. I admire you and all that you CAN do, but I'd love to see you enjoying your life more.

Safe and Happy travels,
Carol

Alabama! The thing about Alabama isn't the wildflowers - it's the flowering trees. Beth and I have driven through miles of Bradford Pears, Wild Plum, Camellia's, Forsythia and Redbuds. Didn't see any Dogwoods though, maybe they will be out leter. It's warm enough that we may need our airconditioners on.

Soos, from the looks of it the trailer will soon be able to play in the sunshine. YIPPEEEEE!! That bathtub idea sounds interesting. Better watch out, they will be fighting over turns at the ruckus. :D Linda

Trudy, Molly bunny looks adorable in her Easter ears. Good to see you posting again. Take care. Linda

It's good to see Molly and the Googly eyes. He looks like a green monster.

Soos...just don't fall asleep in the hot tub while the coals are still burning! Wishing you warm sunny days ahead.

Jean, welcome home to Alabama. I remember the beauty of those flowering trees the year Carol and I were going to "do" Alabama during my spring break. It was the first time I'd seen pink dogwood blossoms. The cgs were beautiful. Unfortunately the week didn't last very long and we only saw a little of the eastern side. There's still a lot of AL left to "do."

Cute bunny ears, Molly....Roe does NOT want any.

Soos - all that snow is hard to believe as we are nearing temps in the 80s (finally, mainly just thrilled to have sunshine for a change). Your place and the snow is still pretty and good to enjoy the snow part from a distance for me. Thanks for sharing.
Cute little bunny that snuck in there.
We are in for a full week of sunshine and blooms - love it.
I do so hope your retirement comes thru and this next winter will be spent in a warmer place.
