I was taken aback when I visited the ladies restroom at a gas station. I guess this is a LA “throne room.”
This sign was on the inside of the stall. I won’t tell you what else it said on the wall inside the stall.
Vickie greeted me as soon as I arrived and helped me get settled next to their 5th wheel right by the river. I could tell she was thrilled to meet me because she left right after that and didn’t come back until after dark. (She said she had a meeting to go to.....hmmm)
So I took Roe for a nice walk around this lovely park. We walked along the river.
Checked out the rental cabins.
And the fishing docks.
Went past these confederate graves. This was the site of a Civil War battle.
Saw the cannon display.
And met Darryl’s wildlife....a most unusual campground for sure.
Vickie’s charming husband Ronnie regaled me with stories of the area, their life histories, the civil war history of the cg, of places they’ve been, and plenty of fish stories. Here he helps his niece Maggie put a sinker on her fishing line.
Finally Vickie came back and I am delighted to report that she is not mean. In fact she and Ronnie are as nice a folk as you’d ever want to meet. I’m glad we met and look forward to another gtg with more time. Vickie cooked a yummy meal and then we chatted around the warm campfire awhile longer. In the morning we’ll study the map to figure out the best non-Interstate route to my next destination. Looks like I’ll have a shorter drive tomorrow, so won’t need to leave at the crack of dawn.
