Oh, Barbie, I can't believe they did that and didn't even tell you! That must be a small place where you work for there not to be any walk-in clients. Maybe it's the push you need to go out of your comfort zone and do something different. What other kind of work are you interested in or have done in the past? Like she said, maybe try a temp agency. I know I worked for a temp agency at the nuclear plant in S TX and it was a year to year contract, not all of them are a few days or weeks.

I've been packing the rv today, making the beds, repairing the LP tank holder, my legs are tired. It's raining right now and is supposed to continue thru the morning then clear up. I have a meeting to go to Thurs. night so we are planning on going to the campground on Friday, then pick up one or both of his nieces after school to join us. Niblett's Bluff Park is only 23 miles from home so we will leave the boys here and check on them often. Don't know how long we will stay, but the weather is supposed to be nice. I have a meeting Tues. evening and a dentist appointment on Wed. so if he's not ready to come home at least his niece/s will be with him while I'm gone.

Good Morning at the campfire circle!

Barbie, you and your 4-footers are welcome to camp (trailer) up here for the summer, while you decide where you will be next winter. I know you don't have an RV yet, but I have 2! One of them moves and is road ready, and the other is very comfy for living, but needs some TLC to get it road ready. Your 'rent' can be chores and working on that trailer! Between the two trailers and the house (for showers, laundry, etc.), we could have a great summer! There are several haircutting places up here in the neighboring towns, and maybe they have openings?

Molly would love your furry ones!

Happy travels!

Barbie, so sorry about your situation. I'll be praying for God's leading...It is unconscionable that they did that to you without warning.

Vickie, I looked up Niblett's Bluff Park....looks like a really nice cg, so bookmarked it in my LA folder for future reference. I'm taking my chances at Sam Houston SP without a reservation as they charge a res. fee...and I'm too cheap to pay it. I think I'll be ok, since it's not a weekend. Hope you have a great time camping with the nieces!

Actually, my other office job is thru a temp service. That is suppose to last for another couple months. That is just part time tho, too but pays better so I want to hang on to that one. I still want to cut hair but also would like to do skin care. There is an esthetician job open just north of here that I am going to look into this afternoon and see what they have to offer. I am going to talk to my manager tonight at the salon and tell her I want my hourly salary back. At least that will help pay the bills until I can find another job. I think she will go along with that since she can't afford to lose me right now (only three of us working there).
Thanks Soos for the offer! Might have to take you up on that! I was awake all night worrying about all this. It would be fun to spend the summer up in the mountains with you. You have such interesting stories to share!

Liz, I thought you already had reservations at SHJSP. Why not call me the day before and if we are still at NBP you could just meet us there. I'm pretty sure the site fees are less, but will let you know when we get there and it's only about 30+ miles further. My nephew said he tried to get a last minute site at SHJSP once and they were booked, I think it was a weekend, but remember that next week is Spring Break for the school kids so it might be a little more crowded than a normal week. You have my cell number and I think last time we were there I was able to get online with my air card so if you decide to, come on over (then if you stop again on your way back from the TX GTG I can see the difference in what the "wild" women did to you) :o

Well, doesn't that explain a LOT...

Barbie, temping sounds like a great way to fill the gap. Do you have MS Office experience? And give Carolan's Cream a try...it's the only one I've found that tastes as good as Bailey's, and it's WAY cheaper...

Barbie...Hope your boss agreed to the hourly pay. How nice is Soos? What a great offer! Even if you don't take her up on it, it's nice to know you have an option. I remember when I was a single mom on unemployment and child support. My unemployment ran out and I hadn't found a job (small town in the desert). I thought the kids and I were going to be on the street, so I asked my mom (back in IA) if we could stay with her, if we needed, until I could get on my feet. She said yes. I really didn't want to do that, but it was nice to know I had an option. Ends up, all the prayers paid off and I was blessed with a great job and career opportunity as an Optician and didn't have to live with my mom :D Please keep us posted!

oh Barb, so sorry your going through that, it really bites! I go through it each summer
and last summer was so bad and the a/c quit on me so I hauled my three dogs to daughters
condo and camped out in her living room, needless to say she wasn't thrilled with
3 dogs in a complex that doesn't allow pets, but she paid to have the a/c fixed.
That wasn't the end though, I'm still trying to dig myself out of the summer debt
but these extra hours on my paycheck will make all the difference and I will be all
caught up by memorial day (end of school) THEN the whole frickin process starts
all over. Low hour and low pay for summer but I'm trying already to get ahead of
the ball game with a part time job. Had to turn down the first call on the census
job as they wanted me to train these last few days during the day and I just couldn't
do it. I thank God everyday that I was able to buy this fifth wheel cause the price of
living here is about half as much as renting an apt in this town.
I'll toss a log on the fire, give it a little stir and kick back. I can hardly wait until my
retirement. :D

Brrrr!! What a cold night here! It only got to 37 today for the high. They are saying that by next Wednesday it will be in the 70's but I will believe that when I see it. For now, a blazing fire is a godsend!
I called about the esthetician job and it is still open so I e-mailed them my resume, so hopefully, I will hear back from them soon. And, amazingly, I actually had 4 haircuts tonight! Made $18 in tips too. If it was that way all the time I wouldn't complain but I have never had that many in one night there. (At Great Clips I usually had up to 8 haircuts in 3 hours). My boss wasn't there tonight so I didn't get a chance to talk to her.
Vickie, part of the problem with that salon is it is in a small town that was recently bypassed by a new freeway. Then the Snyders store next door closed up. Half of the retail buildings in town are empty because of the economy, so it is a dying town. It probably won't be getting better anytime soon. So not much future there. Time to move on...

The ice on the lake is getting really dark (floating in the water now and honeycombing) so it won't be long before that goes out, especially if it does get to 70 next week! It will be so nice to see open water again! Then the docks go in, then the boats, then the pool opens up, then I realize my shorts don't fit anymore, and then decide I wouldn't be caught dead at the pool in a swim suit anyways until I lose a good 10 pounds! I better get busy on that diet and exersize plan of mine!

Time for bed. Keep the fire going girls!

See what happens when your friends pray for you? I love it! Hope you get to talk to your boss today and I will be praying you get that esthetician job! It sounds like you really want it ;) I agree that if the town is dying, it's time to move on. Just got to get geared up for CA, now...where you really want to be :D Please keep us posted! You know we girls stick together and will help wherever we can 8-)

Wasn't sure if I should post on here or wait an hour and post on the Morning Coffee. Probably too early for coffee since I just had a beer (yuck!). Steve stopped over for awhile and since all I had to drink around here were a few cans of beer that have been in my fridge for over 4 years, we opened a couple of them. I only drank a few sips of mine tho. I hate the stuff!

It got to 80 degrees here today!! And very humid! Tomorrow we are suppose to get thunderstorms and then it is going to cool off some. I hate the humidity! But looking forward to the thunderstorms!

I talked with my boss tonight at the salon, and she said she will go back to paying me hourly since she doesn't want to lose me. So that made me feel better! I never thought I would be happy to get paid minimum wage! I am still going to look for something better tho.

I am looking forward to hearing about everyones travels now. Seems like now that the weather is getting nice that you all are on the move! Travel safe and take lots of pictures!

Thought I would check in before heading to bed. Ron and I were off today so we went for a walk this morning, stopping at Shucks to pick up light bulbs for the motor home ~ we had 5 that were out. Spent the rest of the day either reading or time on the computer. It has rained here most of the day so we stayed in for the afternoon. Both of us took naps even.

Tomorrow the carnival starts up here in Lacey, WA and runs for 10 days. Hopefully we will have good weather and not lots of rain.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I will try to check in once in awhile. We are trying to figure out the routine for each day that we work. One thing we are doing is eating our big meal of the day either at 11:00 or Noon before starting our work day. Neither of us like to eat a big meal before going to bed.

Take care everyone! Ali

OK, Barbie...Who is Steve? Have to let you know that beer does get old....EWWWW  Even if you like beer, you probably wouldn't have liked 4 yr old beer  Congratulations on getting your hourly pay. At least it will get you by until you find something better.
