THURSDAY--VACATION BEGINS AT 3:00 PM!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

THURSDAY--VACATION BEGINS AT 3:00 PM!

Postby Nasoosie » Thu Mar 25, 2010 4:19 am

GOOD MORNING TO US ALL!

It is only about 19 degrees here this morning, as a winter blast has paid us a visit. The forecast is for very cold temperatures for several more days before a warming trend again.....into the single digits. I have heard returning geese, robins, and woodcocks lately in my yard, so they will have to hunker down until the sun comes up today. I do love the sounds of their voices, however, as they are a sign that the long, cold winter is fading out for another year. The 'PEENT' of male woodcocks and the whistling of their wings as they spin in the sky before their dives to the ground never fails to bring me such a feeling of relief and knowledge that 'all's right with the world' even if human turmoil is spinning seemingly out of control all around us in the news.

I want to thank Cedar for the invitation to accompany her and Kathy to the first bluegrass festival of the season, and, if Gordon Lightfoot or Poncho Hurd were going to be there, I would be packed already! However, as it's not a campout but an inside music fest, I will turn down the invite as I have a ton of things to do here as my vacation begins. I am convinced it's not so much the music I love but the being outside and listening to live music under the skies! But I thank you so much for the wonderful offer. We will expect some pictures, and I am looking forward to listening to you and Kath around the fires this summer as you play and sing some of the music you will hear this weekend!

This is a jeans day and a pay day and a final day before vacation! What more could a person hope for! I made a fresh pot of coffee, so stop in and tell us where you are headed or what your plans for the day may be. Some snowbirds will be returning homeward soon, and others will be planning new territories to explore. Spring has sprung!

Happy travels!

I'm actually making myself poached eggs and toast for breakfast, with vanilla yogurt and red raspberries for desert! Meeting a girlfriend to walk this morning so I can go on the birding trails. Maybe a mtc ride with friends again today to a place I like to eat at on the water. The menu is very basic...shrimp, crab legs, clam chowder, and smoked mullet dip. All great except the chowder, in my opinion. It's a biker destination, too, so nice ride. Supposed to be like yesterday, in the 70's so will be nice to sit out by the water again. Hope it warms up for your vacation, Soos!

Enjoy your "getaway" weekend, Cedar....sounds like a fun time. And Soos....are you heading for PA? Anyway, enjoy sleeping in and restful days.

I'm making final preps for my trip to TX...really looking forward to getting away too. Deployed my awning for the first time yesterday....successfully, so maybe now I'll start using & enjoying it.

Today I really need to clean the house...so it'll be clean to come home to....maybe I will.

Tomorrow I will attend an "Our Own Games" event (similar to Special Olympics, but for physically, not mentally handicapped kids). Some participating will be my former students, and others who have graduated come back too to cheer on their younger counterparts. I always enjoy catching up with the lives and successes of these former students. One favorite (yes, I've had favorites) is quadriplegic & non-verbal but has earned a bachelor's degree in business and operates his own online business. He uses a communication device to "talk," using just one finger to access it. I taught him for many years from pre-school through middle school. There were no electronic communication devices back then. In preschool I sat him on my lap at the school secretary's electric typewriter and taught him to type with that one finger. By the time he was 4, he could communicate by pointing to words on a board. He loved learning and was/is very bright.

Saturday I will volunteer at the museum at the local State Park. Not really looking forward to that...would rather volunteer my time outdoors, but that's where they need me.

Safe travels to all!

Beautiful morning here at Why, AZ. Beth and I hit the road today. One of the things we are hoping to visit when we get there is The Very Large Array. We passed it when we were in NM last year. At the time I didn't know they gave tours and I was mad at myself because this is the kind of thing that facinates me. When we were in Los Alamos there was an enormous radio telescope and we were told that it was listening to the noise from stars. Then when I saw that thing whip round and start following something I thought, yea right. Either ET has just called home or that telescope is listening to something a lot closer. I'm on my third cup of Irish Breakfast Tea and later on I'll call Beth on our walkies that I'm ready for Second Breakfast. :D ps. I was napping, but Beth says that two ladies came round from the Census and she filled it in for both of us. What a neat asignment, going round all the campgrounds. I didn't know they did that.

Forgot we had a field trip this morning. Nice little surprise. Since we had a snow day yesterday, my brain is behind one day. Still tired from the trip that kicked my butt.

Ava, took me awhile, but I just realized you got the extra hours you were hoping for. I'm happy to hear that worked out. You've inspired me with the crochet and I pulled out my stuff and am going to give it another try.

Hope you all have a beautiful springy Thursday!

Well this am when I was up to take the high school girls to the bus stop, it was nice and warm.

Then an hour later the rain showed up. We had a record breaking high yesterday. So that means so far in this year, we have had a least one day during the month break a record. Wonder what is in store for summer. I am sure we will be happy that we opted for the AC unit when we replaced the furnace in January.

Today is speech therapy of Kodie and also dropping off 3 pieces of her art work for the hospitals art show. The rehabilitation center does an art show every year in the spring. It is only open to artists that have disabilities. It is really neat and they have an open house, where people can come and met the artists. IT is such a fun group to chat with. They are all such an encouragement.

Then it will be home and getting some school stuff done, a little house cleaning, and getting some pictures uploaded and sent to be printed. I am going to my girl friends on Saturday..to scrapbook. I need to get my older son Scouting book done...from Tiger to Eagle....hope to have it done by his Eagle Court of Honor on April 24th. This will give a great start.

Well Ladies - not only does the radio tower/satellite dish turn to follow and scan Jean - I got the 'signal' yesterday infoming me of the news- and I feel I should be heading to Alabama. But - I am still snow-bound - and the idea is heavy on my mind. Maybe when Jean and Beth pass that way - I'll get an up date -hope all is well with everyone. We have had 17 1/2 foot of snow this season- (7 foot more than normal) and there are drifts up to 6 foot still on property and frozen...

Gee, and I thought it was only me and Evie that ate our way across the US! We usually have a small snack before we leave the cg, then stop after an hour or two for breakfast and potty break, then lunch and potty break after another couple of hours, then afternoon snack and potty break and then land somewhere. So guess we pretty much eat and pee our way down the road! Eventually we get to where we were going....But then we're both old and slow...
Only Irish coffee provides in a single glass all four essential food groups: alcohol, caffeine, sugar and fat.
