VickieP wrote:Well, I hate to do this, you all know what's coming when someone starts like that, but we're going to have to miss the PA GTG this year. Unfortunately we had to replace the inside unit for the ac/heat last week at a whopping $2500. and that put a serious hole in our travel money stash. I thought we might still be able to pull it off, but in figuring the fuel cost for a 2960 mile round trip, it came close to $1,500 and I would feel better building my emergency stash back up a bit. I'm sorry we won't get to meet everybody, but there's always next year!

Are you serious??? Bummer. Cuz we probably won't be able to make it, either! We're pushing ten grand on this "Blue Marlin Fitness Center"...SERIOUS dent in our cash flow, unless someone wants to help out when I'm a heart-healthy, non-diabetic bag lady living on the streets of Palmersville...

But, if anyone crosses the northwest corner of Tennessee at any time, we're here, we're happy (I have Happy Pills now...), and we welcome (unlike Ms. You-Know-Who) all RVing Women Visitors! (sorry, but Speckled Dick is off the menu...) (or is that Spotted Dick? Well, just know that there's no Dick on the menu, unless George is in a funk for some reason...)

And I was really looking forward to Gettysburg...I LOVE history.

That's a good idea, Liz. It would be something that's not quite so far for us, I'm thinking we could swing just a couple of states away, well unless TX is one of the two, LOL, it takes forever to go through there. Any location ideas? Why not start a new thread and see who would be interested?

I could most likely do that, too, but NOT if You-Know-Who is coming... :D

 Hey, that's cool, do you think Lori and Ernie would do that too? Paulette? (I'd just send Mitch all the way south, she would probably drive in the Gulf)

Hmm,lets see...PA from MD, via LA? Somehow, and I"m no geography geek here, but I'm just not sure that would be the route to take! It is time for me to start nailing down my summer plans though. I will be taking GD to Iowa to spend the summer with her dad and from there, I'm not exactly sure where I"m going to go. I was hoping to make a summer out of it, but think work may prevent me from doing that. Not sure. However, I guess if I just made reservations all along whatever route I want to take, then I'd have to go there, wouldn't I? Ha!

Also wanted to say bummer on you all not being able to make it to PA. Although I totally understand the $$$$ issues, as we all do. So, fatten up the travel funds and get back to good health you all so that we can do this another time! GTG's are loads of fun.

   Geez, no Vicki, no Mitch, and now, maybe, no Paulette    I hope no one else has to back out :? :? .......Yep, know all about the travel fund, that's why I have Ernie mowing lawns in the summer... ;) Well, I'll still have the campfire lit , beer and wine chilling, for the rest....and of course, the "Tour Director" is refining his schedule of site-seeing....for the rest of you....for the last week in July....maybe you all will win the lottery or something....

You're right Tina, 500 miles is nuttin'! I do it all the time. Sure wish I could make this GTG, but we'll be on the bikes and probably heading into Canada, and the BF thinks 2 miles out of his way is to far. The boy has no conception of what makes a good trip more fun! Looks like I'm missing out on GTG's all around this year....bummer! Have fun and I'll be with you in spirit.

Okay, I'm bringing this to the top again cause I need some clarification on the dates. I've got to start my planning process well in advance so that it can change a dozen or so times before I head out.

For clarification, the dates for this GTG are 25 - 31 July? Let me know if we settled on those dates definitely. It's close enough to me that I'm pretty flexible. Doesn't look like I'll be able to meander as I had hoped this summer. So...

Lori, since you are the hostest with the mostest here for this event, let me know. Also, let me know when it is time for me to make my reservations. Spoke with Zeee and she's not sure she'll be able to make it during that time frame because she'll be having her knees replaced this summer. But, I'm hoping that the surgery is early enough that she will be fully recovered by the time of our GTG so that she can come. Or maybe the surgery will be later in the summer and she can come too.

thanks.

Yep, from the survey I took awhile back, that week of July 25-31st seemed to fit most plans for everyone this summer....Right now I'm going to just block the "back temporary sites" (across the creek and by the pond refer. for Tina & Peggy.. ;) ) for us when we get up there the 1st of May....or maybe call in a week or so to do the same....I do hope Zee can make it too....she deserves some time with the "sistahs" :D Hope this works with your plans, Paulette.....Oh, I can't wait to show you all where we live in the summer and to take the bunch of ya' on a private tour of Gettysburg....Hey, Tina & Peggy, we'll have to set up a TV and DVD player for the "homework" assignment Ernie has.....

Oops, guess I missed (or forgot?) the post about the dates. Didn't realize it was in July. I probably won't be able to make it that soon, but hope to see some of you that live in the area when I do come through in Aug., or on my return in late Sept./early Oct. I don't expect to get back from my western trip until late July...if that changes, I'll let you know.
