My nephew's surgery went very well today! They believe they got all of the cancer removed from the area around the tumor location. Jeff is feeling pretty good afterward too.

Another 60+ degree day that I missed out on (worked both jobs again), but tomorrow will be a short work day for me and it is suppose to be sunny and 65 so I should be able to get out and enjoy it! The ice is looking very dark on the lakes which indicates it is melting a lot underneath. We are in for a cool weekend tho with high's only in the 30's again. Hopefully that won't last long. My boss (from the office job) actually lives in and works out of Fargo, and he took the afternoon off to help sandbag for the flooding up there. It seems so odd to me that the river there flows from south to north. Seems backwards!

Ava and Amy - have a great visit! Can't wait to hear about it!

so glad your nephews surgery went well, that is such good news!
I've heard of that river that flowssouth to north, it certainly does seem
odd but it must be downhill there and thats why it goes the wrong way.
Meeting about the time clock all went well today, of course there are
ALWAYS those one or two employees that ask the stupid questions
or repeated stuff. We start using the new clock on Monday, its the
start of the new paycycle.
Enjoying a glass of icewater cause I need to stay hydrated as the heat
today (it got hot) caused a little sweat but I refuse to turn on my ac
just yet. It still chills down at night but not so cold for the furnace to
run all night. Waiting for my hair to dry before I go to bed, just can't
stand to lay my head on the pillow with wet hair.
Ok, a little log on the fire to see the flames dance around and I'm outta
here.

Great news about your nephew's surgery, Barbie! What a relief for your entire family.

Thanks for keeping the fire burning, Ava! I wish I had more energy to be here with you at night, but I need to be in bed by 8:00 in order to get up on time in the mornings! But the warmth from the embers this morning is nice while I'm having my morning coffee! Good luck with your new driving job!

Another late night! It was a beautiful day again today! 64 degrees and sunny! I spent the afternoon putting in the new carpet on my porch. Smells much nicer out there now! Cleaned it all up and took down more of the plastic on the windows (the upper half only. The windows are floor to ceiling) to get more fresh air thru there. It is really nice and comfy out there now. Love to sit out there at night with just a string of (white) X-mas lights on and watch the moon come up over the lake (well, still ice for now).

My car has severe issues! I think the tie rod on the passenger side is going out on me. I had the other one break at an intersection last summer and I don't want that to happen again! I am going to try to get it in tomorrow morning to get fixed. I am scared to drive it the way it is, especially with all the pot holes all over. Every time I go over a crack or bump, the whole car feels and sounds like it is going to break in half! And when I turn right, I hear a loud 'clunk' noise in front like I did just before the other one broke!

Still got this cold hanging on too. It just comes and goes. Yesterday I was fine, but now tonight it is bad again (or could be all the dust I kicked up out on the porch today!) Gotta take more Zycam and Sudafed! Maybe the cookies I just baked will help some :D

oh Barbara, hope you get your car fixed before something worse happens.
We're into bee season, we usually get swarms moving around this time of
year and many people get attacked. Happened yesterday for the first time
this season. 3 people are in the hospital. Sitting here just thinking and
pondering the latest offer my boss made to me today. Actually, she made
me an offer I can't refuse, and its a win win situation. Not too many drivers
down there can handle the big bus and the large group of kids, and me
wanting to go special ed really bothered her. She kept trying to talk me
out of it, telling me how I would be out of my normal element. So today
she catches me as I'm going out the door and tells me....What if, we
add an hour on your morning and an hour on your afternoon and give
you 8 hours a day til the end of the school term, would you keep your
route? I said only IF I get the 8 hours a day til the end of school and
then I can bid into special ed on bid day in July. So, my kids will be
happy and the parents will be happy and I will be happy with eight
whole hours a day and not having to work late anymore to get even
3 extra hours a week. Gains me 10 hours a week! So, they have this
homeless high school student going to a school in another district and
they will put that girl on my run. State law makes it possible for our
district to take her to school in another district, we get the mileage
for it and she gets to continue school where she has been going.
The special ed route was a 7 hour route and I was thrilled to be going
into the little bus and have better a/c and not have to worry about
cleaning the big one but hey, I can't turn down the 8 hours a day. It
means I'll be caught back up on my budget before summer and then
the whole process starts all over again.
I really could use a good glass of wine but I didn't buy any, so guess
a soda will have to do.

Great news about the extra hours, Ava.

Just decided I wanted to sit by the fire for a bit - haven't been over here for a lonnnnnnnng time. Maybe I'll grab a beer and relax before bed.

I brought my car into my mechanic first thing this morning (very nervous driving there!). My dad met me there and drove me to work for a few hours. Later he took me back to pick up my car. It was the right tie rod that was shot. Plus, they took off two tires that were really bad and put a couple of temporary tires on until I could replace them. I went right over to the tire shop and got two new ones put on. So now my car rides so nice and smooth! What a difference! Luckily, my dad paid for it all since I have no extra money right now. I will pay him back when I can.

It is cold today!! Brrr! Nice to sit here by the fire and warm up! Only got to 38 today. What a difference from yesterdays 64! Can't wait until I can sit out on my porch again without freezing, but shouldn't be too long from now, tho. Sunday is the first day of spring.

The rivers here are all suppose to crest on Sunday. The Crow river I saw the other day, is much higher today (saw on the news) and they had to close a main highway bridge that is almost under water now.

Ava, that is great news about your job! I wish I could put in 8 hours a day between the two jobs I have! Still haven't heard anything from Great Clips. I may check on another GC that is a little further away. The location I have been trying to get into is close enough that I can hopefully get my clients from my old job to follow me there.

Have a great night!

Thought I would get the fire going again. Threw on a few more logs to get it blazing nicely! Too bad I don't have any Bailey's tonight, and no cookie dough, either! I am a little PO'd tonight. I got my paycheck from the salon and noticed that I went from hourly pay (whopping $7.25/hr) to straight commission for the last two weeks. Considering I don't do hardly any haircuts (none last night, one the night before), that isn't a good thing at all! So basically, I am cleaning floors and doing laundry for free now. I was barely able to make ends meet before (used my tax refund to pay my rent last month), but now I don't know if I will be able to even pay my rent this month, let alone my bills. I checked with the manager of that Great Clips I have been trying to get into, but she is still giving me the run-around. Tomorrow, I will have to start looking elsewhere for another part-time hair-cutting job (or anything else that actually pays money and keeps me busy!). I hate being stretched this tight financially. It really stresses me out. So I will sit here by the fire, relax, take a deep breath and hope for a better day tomorrow.

(Gotta stop and get some cookie dough tomorrow! For 3 bucks, I have enough dough for a handfull of cookies every night for a week or more! Bailey's costs too much so that will have to wait...)

Barbie! I will be praying for you, girl! Maybe try a temp agency until you find something. Sometimes those jobs can run the whole summer or they want you to come aboard as their employee. What about workamping? Some places offer a cabin or house so that would solve your housing problem, too. Just some thoughts...I have many ;) Keep us posted!
