Good morning Ladies.

Thought I would pop in here first thing this morning and say hello. It is a beautiful yet cold day here in little ole Blaine.

I had a great day yesterday. We had dinner with four friends that we had not seen for months and it was so fun to eat great food, drink great wine and laugh and laugh some more. We have made a date to get back together again when we get back to this area in the Fall.

Today I am off to work at the church for a couple of hours and then having lunch with a friend. Hope everyone has a great day today. And yes Liz, today is Tuesday.

WAs up at 5:30 GDs spent the night and wanted to get up early in order to get dressed, eat and play some Wii before their Dad picked them up for school. After they left I showered and am on here but will leave soon for bowling.
Sun is out but it sure is cold outside! I can easily see my breath, but hadn't noticed any frost.
I"m wondering if Sparkle isn't suffering from that dessert lung thing people catch when in AZ. Suzanne Sommers caught it and the Drs diagnosed she had lung cancer (shows up looking the same on an xray), until she visited a Dr in Tx who caught it. Sounds like nasty stuff.
Yesterday I visited my MH and exercised the genny. While the genny was running I thought I'd give the engine a try (dead battery syndrome, but hey, had to give it a shot), and when I turned the key the genny quit. Is that suppose to happen? Oh, and the battery is still dead. DUH!

Oh PS - when the GDs were dropped off, their Dad said the girls had baths but didn't wash their hair and for me to smell the 8 yr olds head. Whew! It smelled sour. So I got her into the bathroom and washed it.....then found out the story behind it. Seems she and here sister were playing a game. She layed on the floor while her sister stood over her with a can of whipped cream and tried hitting her mouth. Allot went into her hair!

We had light rain this morning so I gave Charley (my Standard Poodle) a partial hair cut. Just taking a little off the top I filled a grocery bag with hair. I never seem to finish him so I just think of it as an on going work in progress.

I'm watching the forum closely today for Sparkle's report on her doctors visit and hoping she will get an easy cure.

A while back I posted we were looking at generators, well we have one on order along with a new air conditioner. Since our A/C was still working and was a 10 seer we will get a $600.00 rebate from our electric provider Ameren. We also will get a little over $1200. off of our taxes (either toward what we owe or as a refund) in 2011! When we first started deciding what we absolutely wanted to come on when the power went off the estimate for that unit was $9500.!!! Well we quickly regrouped and decided we could make do with a lot less comfort. The unit we bought is an 8HW and will run AC, gas furnace, refrigerator and kitchen lights. I have a gas cooking stove so that will work as I can light it with a match. The cost for the generator alone, which hooks into our natural gas line and will automatically turn on anytime the power goes off and then turn itself off when it comes back on, was $5495. Since we bought the new A/C from the same company and with the rebates, we really felt the total price they gave us for installing both will be worth our peace of mind.

Thanks for this info! I'm considering installing a like system and was curious about the price. So if I understand you correctly it comes on automatically? No going out to the gen system and cranking it on? That sounds wonderful to this old gal! i'm going to get some local info and before next winter i expect to have that peace of mind too.

Yes Cedar it is all automatic no adding anything or turning it on or off. If you don't have natural gas or a propane tank they would have to install a propane tank to hook into. It starts itself up once a week and runs for a few minutes to keep it all lubricated.
We used to never get ice storms and some years little or no snow, but the last few years the weather has really changed.

Excellent. No natural gas here so it would mean installation of large propane tank. Well worth the expense. I would rather do that than deal with having to keep adding gasoline. Good info, thanks again!
