CONGRATULATIONS BILL DEMONG AND TEAM!!!!

GOOD MORNING ALL!

I just watched that poor little Canadian girl whose mom died of a heart attack right after she arrived in Vancouver win the bronze medal for the women's short program. She skated beautifully, holding it together until it was over, and then, crying, shouted something about her Mama to the crowd---it was in French, and the crowd was noisy, but I think probably she shouted that she did it for her mother.

And I watched our own Bill Demong and his USA Nordic Combined team win the first medal EVER won by the U.S. in that event, and it was SILVER! I was so excited for them all, and had to jump up out of bed to cheer Bill on at the last lap, as he was the final racer in the relay! He managed to pass the leader after starting about 14 seconds behind him, but his skis were slow on the final downhill due to the snow conditions. What is amazing, always, is his physical ability to pass the top guys on the uphills! I can still see him as a student in the Kindergarten I was subbing for way back then, jumping off anything in sight! How exciting for that group of dedicated men to be the first to ever get on the podium in that sport! They have all been skating together for years now, individually winning many world championships, and always hoping to do just what they finally managed to do---win a medal in the Olympics! And Bill has put my tiny little town of Vermontville , NY on the national news! :D

We got hardly any snow last night, unfortunately, but it's snowing hard out there now. Many VT schools are canceled as they have many power outages due to the heavy, wet snow. I am hoping our road conditions and the forecast for this to keep on all day might allow our school to close to keep us safe! I will have to keep a close watch on the school closings. So far, nothing for us in Franklin County, but it looks as if Cedar's school may be closed.

Here's hoping I will be here all day, but if not, I'll check back later to read what's going on in your life. Coffee is hot and Hazlenut, so get your typing fingers in shape while you sip!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning!

Yes,... Congratulations to Bill and all the others on the team. We've certainly scored some medals from our home north country. There will be a parade in Lake Placid today to honor Andrew Weibricht (sp) too for his success. I'll bet when Bill gets home that Saranac Lake/Vermontville will celebrate too. Well done EVERYONE!

We finally got some snow! Long overdue here. Woke up about 3:30 a.m. and the power was off. I called it in to the power company and at that time there was only about 70 customers out,..... by 5:45 there were 2000 out. Our power came back around 6:15. Yes, no school here today. We got the call just before 6 a.m. We have an automated call system, the Superintendent triggers it and every employee and student's home receives a call. I still have all hard wired phones. I don't like the others as when the power is off they don't work. So I'll always keep at least one regular phone for times like this.

Snow is falling again. We have 6.5" now with another 4-6" due here. Looks like Soosie is due to get more than that. Sure hope your school is closed Soos....

So here we are, snug as a bug in a rug,..... debating what we'll have for dinner... know I'll do homemade bread. Hope everyone is enjoying the day today!

Yep, congratulations are definitely on order for all the "winners" who are participating. Especially when it's someone you know. Festivities and celebrations for all :D :D Weather not as sunny today, but hopefully not much rain. Going with tGM to visit his mom who is now in assisted living and then dropping him off at the train station in Tampa as he heads back to NC to do more painting, caulking,, etc for the addition to our son's house. Think he may have caught a cold while there last week. Am loving the new floor. Everyone who visits thinks it's laminate and are very surprised when they find out it is vinyl. So easy to clean and the place looks so much larger and brighter. Soos, hope you get that "stay home" phone call. Everyone stay safe. carold

Well the rains have returned..so it is a wet cooler day here in the PNW.
As I was paying the bills last night...I realized I never did the online registration for the truck. So now I have to make a trip in and get it done as they expire in 2 days. It will cost me a bit more. The trailer one arrived also, not due til March..but as I type this that is less then a week away..might as well get them both done.

I did notice we have a optional charge on there...at least the RV one, the truck does not have it. It is a 5.00 donation to the State Parks. This was passed last year, so this is the first registration we got for it. I think it is a neat way to raise some funds for the state park. Hope it written up that way so they can not go and "steal" it for some other project.

Congratulations to all the winners!

Yes it is a bit cooler and wetter here this morning, even the wind is blowing a little bit. The rain did sound kinda nice on the roof of the motor home last night...kinda lulled me to sleep.

Today we are moving the motor home over to a friends place so we can house sit while they go and relax in Hawaii. We will be watching their dog and doing some work for them at their condos. It is where we stayed last November when we had the fire in the motor home. They have a couple of renters coming in for the weekend. We will be there for a week. One thing I am looking forward to is having access to a washer/dryer while there. We won't have to be making any trips to the laundromat - yippee!

Ron's shoulder is doing a little better. He worked yesterday and will work again this afternoon and tomorrow to finish up a bathroom - had to put in a new shower for a customer. We are thankful for the work - the first job for February for him.

This weekend we hope to finish up the moving of stuff from the little storage unit (we are eliminating it) to the big unit. That will save us $70 a month! We are also going to be helping a friend move on Saturday morning and then in the afternoon we are going to celebrate our granddaughter's second birthday! It is so hard to believe she is two and doing so well. She started out at 1lb 15 oz and is now the size of a normal two year old. Her only health issue seems to be she is cross eyed - they are going to do surgery in a couple of weeks to correct that.

We are still waiting to hear when we are to report to Portland to start work for the carnival. I have decided that if we don't hear by the end of the day on Monday I will drop them an email. All we know is that it starts around the middle of March and that is just a few weeks away.

Sure hope everyone has a great day. Talk to everyone soon.
