Modern Kind of Senior Trip

Thought you gals might be interested in reading article below that was in my local newspaper today. There's talk in Nevada of shutting down state parks.....I hope it's not a reality. It reminds me of Tennessee a number of years ago when many state parks were closed.

That article was in our local (NYT affiliate) paper here in Ocala, FL too. Goes with all the budget cuts, I guess.

This is how I travel. "Itinerant" implies poor. Most of us have nice rigs, drive nice cars. But we're all on a budget (who isn't?).

Janice you are so right ~ everyone is on a budget some of us just have smaller amounts in our budget than others.

Here in WA there has also been talk of closing some of the state parks here. They now have a opt in $5.00 fee you can pay when you renew your driver's license to go towards state park funding. I know we will opt in when we renew the next time.

I think it would be a great shame if they start closing state parks around the US...they offer many a place for rest and relaxation and some of us a place to park for a week or two.

Thanks for the connection to that excellent, well-written article. It seems as if we retirees (ahem----maybe this year for me!) are becoming legion! Perhaps we will become a strong enough force and enough in numbers to run and manage the nation's state and Federal parks. Retirees UNITE!!!

(We need a logo, those of you who are artistic out there----one we can print up to paste on our rigs and use on the letterheads of publications!)
