RV Show, etc...

Postby BarbaraRose » Wed Feb 10, 2010 7:04 pm

I got a ticket to the Camping and RV Show for this weekend in Minneapolis. I will probably go either on Friday or Sunday. I am going alone... Me and my SO are no longer seeing each other. I haven't seen him since my birthday. He decided to go back to his ex-girlfriend. So much for the RV I was so looking forward to! But I won't give up! Eventually, I will get one. In the meantime, I will see if my brother and his wife will let me use their pop-up tent trailer this summer, altho I am not sure my little car can pull it. Will have to find out how much it weighs first, since my car can only handle about 1000 pounds or so (altho the U-Haul I towed out to Denver must have weighed twice that!). It will still be fun to look around at the show and dream about what I'd like to get someday. Meanwhile, I will continue to live vicariously thru all of you gals!

Barbie, it's good to see that you're getting on and not letting that little hickup stand in the way of your dreams. We women can always find alternate routes! Go have a good time at the rv show and get some ideas of what you like and don't like about different ones.

So sorry to hear about the burp in your relationship...glad that you are moving forward. There is an RV Show in Seattle this weekend that we were hoping to go to but finances just won't allow this one. Maybe next time. Have fun at the show and keep those dreams alive.

Cheer up Barbie!!! Sorry for the s/o skipping out on ya and now being an x. But at least this way when you do get an RV it will be yours free and clear with no strings attached. Which is much better anyway!!!! This way YOU get to pick and choose which one, where to go and all that good stuff!!!!

Significant Others can be VERY fleeting entities! I am so glad you didn't count more on his getting that RV for you (HAH!) and then taking it all away after you decided you really liked both him and the RV! The whole arrangement of his buying you a huge toy like that just didn't sound 'right' to me from the beginning!

Now then-----up and onward to your finding just what you want for yourself, and learning how to take to the roads on your own! I am sorry if you really thought the a-hole was someone he wasn't, but better you learned that NOW rather than later. You are way more capable than putting yourself at the mercy of someone else!

Go git 'em!!! We are all here for you!

Barb...

I had the same thing happen to me a couple years ago. I still have the dream and I refuse to let it taint my hopes and dreams.

One thing I have learned: Men will come and go in our lives, but our girlfriends are here with us thru thick and thin!

Let's hear it for the GIRLFRIENDS! Ladies, give yourselves a hand!

Barbie, sorry about the breakup. I'm so proud that you are going to carry on your dream, anyway.
RV shows are fun and helps keep the dream alive. I use to go to all the dealerships in my area often. From the ones that sold only Chalets-Aliners to the big one class As. I also attended all the RV shows. It was just allot of fun and I asked a gazillion questions and learned allot.
Hang in there!

Thanks gals for all your support. To tell you the truth, I think I am more disappointed in losing the RV, than losing him! I kind of new there was no real future with him, but the RV would open up a whole new life for me. It will take some time and money and I will have to start smaller, but I will get something eventually. Maybe a camper van or a truck camper to start with.

I left work (office job) at 9am this morning since I had no work to do. I was going to go to the RV Show but I hadn't printed my ticket from my PC yet so I had to go back home for that. Then my computer decided it needed to do an update, so while I waited for that, I fell asleep on the couch and woke up 4 hours later! So much for the show today! Gotta go work at the salon in a couple hours. Tomorrow, I am not going into work until noon, so that takes care of the show for tomorrow, too, so now it will be Sunday, which will probably be better anyways. I hate driving downtown and then trying to find a parking ramp and remembering where I parked so I don't wander aimlessly thru downtown Mpls afterwards trying to remember which skyway to take, which ramp, block, street, level, etc I am parked on! Sunday will be much less crowded and hectic, especially being V-Day. (Probably a good thing for me to do on Valentines Day, anyways. Look for my new love! (RV, that is!)

I had a bad night last night, emotionally. Not sure if it was because of PMS or being that it was my Mom's birthday (she's been gone 2 1/2 years)or spending Valentine's Day alone. Was just feeling sorry for myself and nothing was going right for me. Then when I realized that I didn't have any milk or cookie dough for my chocolate chip/oatmeal cookies, I got really bummed out! That is my "feel good" food. I went to bed early and slept in this morning. Didn't feel good enough to go to the RV Show. I got up later to do my taxes but realized I am still missing a W2. Paid my bills but didn't have enough to pay them all so some will have to wait another month. (Definately have to find another job!).

My dad rescued me by taking me out to dinner tonight. We had a really nice meal and conversation. We have always had a very up and down, love/hate relationship, but things are going good for us right now. He gave me a beautiful Valentine's Day card and some chocolate. On the way home, I stopped at the store and picked up some milk, cookie dough and more chocolate!

We are getting a little more snow, just a dusting, but definately enough to make the roads very slippery. My car was sliding around curves and thru stop signs. I usually don't have a problem with my car but this nuisance snow makes the roads "greasy" and very slick. It takes people off guard since it doesn't look like anything to slow down for.
I am feeling better tonight but sorry I didn't get to the RV Show. My heart just wasn't in it this morning to get up and go to it.

Barbie, so sorry you've had a bad couple of days. Now that you have your sweet fix things should be better! :D There will be other rv shows, there's always dealerships to visit or when the weather gets better, just drive through some campgrounds and look around and see how different rv's fit into sites and things like that. Just keep dreaming till one day you wake up and look around in your own rv!

Barbie

Sorry you had a rough couple of days but glad that it ended with a nice dinner with your dad and of course getting the sweet stuff for at home. Sure hope you have a better day tomorrow.

Hang in there Barb, those kind of nights (and/or days) happen and the one good thing is that morning comes and things get better. The best medicine for that stuff is "control"... you taking control of your situation. I've been there and I know.... Wish we lived closer to each other, we could gtg and have a cuppa!

Take care of YOU!
