How is Eddy doing now? Can he walk? Too bad you have to wait so long before he gets his surgery. It's hard to watch an animal in pain when you can't do anything about it right away. Good thing he has pain meds tho. Give him gentle hugs for us!

Kellie----thinking of both you and Eddie this morning, and hoping you are both hanging in there. I know how painful it is to see our four-footers injured. And, as all have said, accidents happen, and there's nobody at fault. People will be people and dogs will be dogs, and drivers will be drivers. That there aren't more accidents is truly a miracle, to my mind.

Keep us posted on how this all turns out, and I am thankful you were able to find a good vet surgeon to put Eddie back together. Keep your bite wounds clean, and you should be fine once your mental trauma heals as well!

Hugs to you both from me and Molly

So sorry to hear of the accident I hope you are both better soon! Watch your hand even after it heals on the outside, be sure to take your meds.

I too still beat myself up for an accident that happened while letting my dogs play in the back yard off leash before we got the fence. One of them was frightened by a pit bull that someone visiting across the street let loose and he ran away and was lost for 3 days in the woods. We found him with the help of many kind friends and strangers. He was covered in ticks and had lost several pounds, but he gradually recovered and we quickly got the much needed fence.

SO SO sorry, Kelpie...

keep your chin up and prayers for your pup. Do keep us informed.

I had a dog that had a broken pelvis once,, she got OK, no surgery, but could never have pups as her 'canal' was too small. Also, I had to carry her outside to do her business, as the doc didn't want her up and walking. Also, arthritis was a factor in her late years. But she lived to a ripe old age of 14 and she is my fondest memory of all my pets. (english springer spaniel, named Amber) She had a soul! & is buried on my farm in my official pet cemetery. I wish I had the $$ to buy her a stone enscribed "the best pet that a gal could ever want!) She was smart beyond belief! I think she was able to read minds!
sigh,
sorry to drag you all down memory lane w/ me.

My hands are fine, not nearly as sore as I thought they would be. Just take some ibuprofen at night. Because the bites are around the thumbs I have to wrap bandages all around to hold them on so it looks much worse than it is. Got the antibiotics started yesterday. Looking forward to the surgery though so he won't be in in so much pain.

UPDATE We are home from San Antonio and everything went very very well. When I saw him yesterday morning, it scared me all over again. He had on one of those collars, hi whole back end had been shaved, an iv and a catheter were in and he has what looked like giant staples running down his spine. There was some miscommunicatin bout the length of his stay though and the wanted him one more night. I did go back and visit again last night and he looked way, way better. This morning he was ready to go. He is alert, eating, drinking, eliminating and even wags his tail! They gave me a list of instructions, a bag of meds, helped me get him in the car and away we went. I think the hardest part now will be to keep him as inactive as possible for 6 whole weeks!. No running, jumping or even walks. He can walk to his food dish, or out to potty, but that's it. Of course, in the rig, that means Mom has to carry him up and down the steps. Friend here loaned me a crate so I can keep him confined when I have to leave for a few minutes. I have one at home and decided not to bring it cos it takes up so much space. Maybe I will try and get one of the soft sided ones when I leave here next week.Thank you all for your concerns and prayers- I know they helped - him and me. Will keep you posted as he continues to recover.

Kellie, that is wonderful news. Those 6 weeks will be over before you know it!
I'll bet he's happy to be back with his Mom.

That's good news, Kellie! I know you area relieved, that part of the healing process is over and it's uphill from here. (even if you have to carry him up the hill)
