Mid-Atlantic and northeast snow storms

Postby Echo » Mon Feb 08, 2010 2:19 pm

I think it's time for the Sistahs in the mid-atlantic areas to check in and let us all know how your doing!!!

We know that Soos and Cedar are ok. That far up there they are use to coping. But reading the stories about the other areas is worrying. And Martha is ok at the hospital. Martha? Do you know if there is power on at your son's house?

Come on Sistahs let us know your ok if ya can, if you haven't lost power. Paulette you doing ok? Zee, how is your hubby doing?

And now they are saying another storm is coming in with 5-12" of new snow. Good grief!!!!

Yep Echo.... let's hear from folks!

Up here we haven't gotten any new snow,... ground is almost bare a few miles up I-87 from here and here at home it's only a couple inches. I know Soos got more snow earlier on the other side of the mountains. We may get some "snow showers" over the next couple of days. That may add a couple more inches. Small potatoes compared to our friends in the mid-Atlantic states.

Sending a hot toddy down to you gals! :D

I got about 26 - 28 inches here. Took me 2 days to shovel out my driveway. Calling for another 20 inches tomorrow night into Wednesday. Power went out a couple of times but came back on so we didn't have to try to trek out to the RV. I did shovel a path to it just in case. I am still alive, but really hating snow with a passion right now. Thanks for thinking about me.

Yes, please take it easy shoveling. It's hard work at those depths.

Well for goodness sake be careful!!! Don't be throwing your back out, straining a muscle or heaven forbid having a stroke or worse. Do the snow in shifts. It will still be there waiting along with some more relatives!!!

Now anyone else had better get checked in too so WE all can quit worrying!!

We didn't make it out of the hospital. The doctor wants to run some test in the morning. He promised to put my son first so we could get out before the snow starts. If he doesn't we will be here until Thursday. As far as we know the power is on at my son's. Think I would rather be stuck here than having to deal with the snow.

Well, I shoveled responsibly...took 2 days to do it! Now, here we go again. this time I will park at the end of the driveway so I only have to shovel a path to the vehicle! Last night I woke up every time I moved. Sore muscles everywhere. Next winter my RV will be parked somewhere south and when they start calling for this type of nonsense, I will be GONE!

We do have a neighbor who usually comes up and clears out everyones driveways, but he didn't get there until I was within 2 feet of finished! Bless him!

Ya know, I think Al Gore should come shovel my driveway while he tells me all about this GLOBAL WARMING!!!!!

good to hear from you and glad your hubby is faring well dealing with the snow.
Not so much for you, though, huh? Sorry it took so long to find out about your hip. Wow, on the weightloss, but not a fun way to loose it. Take care!

I am in Richmond...we got the little end of the storm with 8 inches on Saturday and today another 4 inches...have friends in Northern Virginia and Maryland who had over 2 ft of snow and now are getting it again. I teach at a school who does not readily believe in snow days (we have had 3 versus 10 for other neighboring districts) but today they called it literally one minute before I was leaving at 6:30 am. Lots of people and schools did not call it and buses ended up going off the road. And there was a 25 car pileup at my exit so I am glad they called school. So do I feel lucky...yes. I feel for the people up the east coast with the blizzard conditions. Luckily we only have 25 mph winds with 40 mile gusts but I know lots of people are up there are without power and will be for many days. And even the weather people are afraid to use the s word  but we might get it again Saturday and Monday. So it will be a memorable year. ;)

I don't care if I never see another snowflake. :) My electric line is still hanging on a tree branch. A neighbors tree fell on and snapped the electric pole, ripped my power line from my house and a tree branch kept it from hitting the ground. I have not slept well between the 3 ft of snow and the horrible winds. A friend from the past came with his bobcat and cleared away snow. If the power company will get here quickly, replace the pole and fix my line I will have a good nights sleep. I couldn't get the pilot light to stay on for the gas log and I have an electric cooktop. I thought you all would read about me in the news. Today, I got a good dose of sunshine, the pilot light is on and the rv is in the driveway so I can use the stove. Tonight I have had wine and chocolate and think I might go back for more of both. They are predicting more snow on Monday but I am ready this time. :D
