Well, dang, Janice. Disappointed (again) that you won't be headed this way, but understand completely. Take care of the little guy and enjoy him while you can. Comforts to you both.

AND ... today and yesterday he's been bouncy and barky. Go figure. I'm glad for the good days.

Just like us...good days and bad days! Glad for the good one for him.

As my grandmother always told me, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." It took me years to realize that what she really meant was, "Be thankful for what you have right now even if there are other attractive things out there that might detract from what you are holding right now in your hands." At least, that's how I decided to interpret that old adage!

So thankful that Bandit still has some good days, and that you, too, can share the good days with him.

Keep him close, hug him lots, and appreciate every second with that little bird in your hands.

Happy travels!

Our furkids give us so much unconditional love, laughs and smiles, that taking good care of them in their final years, months and days, is the least we can do for them. I have gone thru that a lot and will again many times. Enjoy the good days and love each other thru the bad days. There will be more trips in your future.
Unfortunately, my cat Snuffy passed away while I was on vacation in Florida last spring. I found him on the bathroom floor when I got home and was totally devastated! I felt so bad that I wasn't there for him, but he was doing pretty well before I left, and the pet sitter said he was doing good all week. He apparently passed just before I got home. I wish I could have said good-bye and that he didn't have to die alone. But then again, maybe he wanted it that way... he was a great cat. :( I spent a lot of time and money ($3000) and unpleasant duties (almost daily enemas and baths) taking care of him, but it was so worth it. Everyone else said I was crazy. He was only 7.

Not crazy. Just doing what a Mom needs to do when it has to be done. That's all we can do.
