I'm open for any dates but am thinking if we want to "get" our spots we need to beat the weekend crowd so maybe arrive on Thursday April 1st? April Fools Day - appropriate, huh?

I would love to come for the GTG, but have a small event called the Wedding of the Decade in Darrow , LA at Houmas House Plantation on April 10th. So maybe the next time.

I can make any date. Birdie and I might be caravaning there together. Getting there on a Thursday might insure we all have good sites together since its a Thursday and the weekend crowd won't be there yet (maybe).

Oh man, wish I could be there but already made plans to go to Moab with the BF. Ever since Evie and I went to the Texas coast I've been in love with the area! One of these days I'll make it back there!

OK ladies, we need to pick specific dates pretty soon so I can plan on when to leave where I am. I'm thinking of arriving on Thursday 4/1 to be sure to get spots before the weekend. Anyone else up for this?

Here is the GPS for the Oceanside Park which is 1 short block north of the beach area. If anyone coming doesn't have a GPS, post here and I will get directions, using Steets and Maps, from an easy to find location on how to get out to Magnolia Beach. When you look at a map, it is near Indianola (about 2 or 3 miles).

GPS (no spaces between any of the items except the N)
N 28(degrees) 33' 14.9"
W096 (degrees) 31' 30.1"

By the first of April it should be warm. I don't want even to think about it not being warm!

I'm planning to leave either Sunday after church or early Mon. morning with the hope of getting there by the 1st (Thurs.). Not sure how long it will take me. Karen, does that sound right based on your trip here in Jan.?

Not sure Liz - we took a backroad not the freeway but it sounds about right. At least you should have reststops for potty breaks. I'm gonna bring two or three of those presto logs for a campfire cause not sure where we could get firewood.

I'm going to be the bearer of bad news. Sparkle and I will not be making it back to TX and Port Lavaca - therefore you'll have to have so much fun and post all the pics - so we can share. It was a difficult decision for us, and started with us deciding to cancel the reservations for Port A for this month - and then the decision that heading that far east and then turning around to head to the west coast to head north to Alaska (which is the route we're going to take) just didn't make sense.

Enjoy Port Lavaca and have a wonderful time there without us - and Karen, get a bunch of folks there to get their glasses!
