Practicing for Boondocking

Disconnected water hose last night cause it was supposed to freeze. This morning the pump gave up the ghost and the outside water hose was frozen so couldn't shower, wash hair or dishes. Thnak heavens I keep a Brita water jug in the frig so I at least had coffee. Am currently waiting for my RV guy. I had noticed on the trip to Florida that the pump was nosier than usual and "pulsed" a lot if you didn't have the faucet turned all the way on. Now the question: Where is the pump located? Got all my paperwork out and dug thru and there it was; the info on the pump - everything EXCEPT where the dang thing is located. Sounded like it was under the bathroom sink BUT there's no way to access it. FINALLY found it located in the outside panel next to the fresh water tank and the access for winterizing. Replaced fuse and that wasn't the problem. Glad I thought to check this as I didn't want to pay my RV guy's fee just to replace a fuse. Glad it died before going to Port Lavaca in April.

OUCH! Yeah good thing it did it now. Would be an eye opener for sure for the peoples to see ya reduced to using a 'cat hole' on the beach! Be sure to cover!

Replacement pumps are about 150.00 I think. If it's pulsing it usually means there is a leak somewhere. If you leave the pump on when there is no water in the tank it will pulse until it burns itself out. All good news isn't it?

When mine pulsed occasionally - it was that there was air in the lines somewhere. The rv guy at the time told me to leave it on and run water - while I was hooked up - and it fixed itself. But if yours is dead, probably Sparkle is right and it died on you, so sorry. Hope it's easy for your rv guy - and yep, better now than later.

You could have replaced it yourself....it's actually pretty easy if the access is easy....but can be a booger if it's hard to get tools in there. And yup, they're almost always in an outside cabinet somewhere.

Well, it was a really cheap fix - 0 $$$$ - Pump doesn't work if no water in fresh water tank. DUH!!. Fortunately my RV guy, Chris, is really nice and has a good sense of humor. Had a couple of other things on my "Honey Do" list so his trip wasn't totally for nothing. Doesn't matter how long we've been RVing there's always something new to learn.

Yep, you are ready for Boondocking, now.... Ernie's Mom burned up a pump on a New Camper once....His step-dad never let her live it down...he still complains about it and she's been gone 5 years now....I'd be haunting him, if I was her....

I'm so glad you lucked out w/ your pump. Bet you'd been there in K'ville so long you forgot about your empty tank. Lesson learned. For me, I'd have to leave myself a note.. or id do the exact same thing,, i'm such an absent minded cluck!

Karen, you do the best non-costly ones. Glad you didn't tear it down aren't you? But then you do have windows that open when the door is locked. One of the locks on my door stopped working and I remembered, go to the front thanks to you!
