Sad & Glad

Postby SeeyaGal » Wed Jan 27, 2010 2:45 pm

This week will be a week of sad & glad, I received a phone call yesterday from my Brother in Oklahoma that my Nephew Grayson had finally died on Sunday. I say "Finally" because my Nephew Grayson was in a horrific car crash 20 yrs ago that took the life of his mother and left Grayson with 2 severed brain stems. Grayson was three at the time and Angie his Mom had all 4 brain stems severed. How they survived was a miracle but Angie never came out of it and was taken off life support after several yrs. Grayson was a fighter altho paralyzed on his right side and spastic on his left side. He could not walk or talk but he fought to stay alive. He hated hospitals and would jerk IV's out of his arms. He knew the love of his devoted Dad and calmed down whenever his Dad was around or would laugh. Hard to believe he lived 20 more years more than Doctors ever thought he would. Every time we thought we were going to lose him he bounced back. Sunday the nurses in the Nursing home laid him back down on his bed so he could nap and he never woke back up. He died in peace, he would have been 24 yrs old next month.
Sad to say good-bye but deep down we are rejoicing that his body is whole again. I found feathers in the back yard today.....he got his wings!
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away

OK, you made me cry with the feathers, but oh so true! One of my GF's here that I jeep with had a son in the same position, he passed a couple of years ago. He was in his late 30's or early 40's, but was in a motorcycle accident in his early 20's. I understand the sad and glad and my heart goes out to you and your family. Big huge hug to you, Jenny.

I so understand the mixed emotions - I'm sure he's happier and in a better place now.

I hope he is three where ever he is. That way he can run and play and live the life he never had.

OK Sparkle, that made me cry, too. Must be all this rain we've had.

What a story, and rightly said, sad AND happy! I pray that no one ever has to experience that kind of life for their child or spouse.

Makes one think!
