My son is hooked

Postby Mtntophoundz » Wed Jul 16, 2008 6:50 am

My son is completely hooked on camping now. Brent has always hated playing outside, he just can't stand to get hot. He would rather be inside watching TV or playing video games. Since we have been home from camping he has asked me every day when we are going again. Just yesterday he said "Mom, can you quit your job and homeschool me and Hannah so we can camp all the time?" I told him it was a thought, but that the campground had a 2 week stay limit. We have promised to go again ASAP, and we are working on it. I am just so happy that he enjoyed himself. Does a mama's heart good!

Mollie, so glad to hear Brent is enjoying this experience, but I totally understand. It was always such a good bonding time with my sons as we camped, mostly because of fewer electronic distractions and also the slower pace helps you to relax and take the time to really listen to them. Those were memorable years.

We learned lots of new family games on rainy days, and the kids made some (even a few lasting) great friendships especially the years we were on a seasonal site.

Mollie.. that is terrific to hear... and you know I think it's good for Momma and Papa as well ! I learned only on camping in my later years as all my experience with going away were with dog shows..our family outings were difficult as my Parents had a restaurant business ..and that in itself is an experience.. LOL...

Mollie you will have many many more good stories to tell.. and we'll all be waiting anxiously for them as well...

Jill, you know as I camped later on .. I got to learn all those neat games on them rainy days.. !!

God Bless

That's great that he likes camping so much. Getting him outside is a good thing. Would he like fishing? It's always cooler along the banks of a lake or river. I like it that he's balancing the tv/video stuff with outdoor things while camping. Great kid!

We have a bass boat and wouldn't you know he HATES fishing. Its too boring for him. I really think since he met some people his age, some of them being young ladies, that is what he liked the most. Also, we gave him a little more freedom than usual.

I loved camping with my Aunt when I was a kid, it started my love for the outdoors so I guess I have been camping since I was 10 and now 56!!
DH always went camping with his folks so it was no surprise that we bought our first RV in 1995 and 4 RV's later now live in our motorhome. We're hooked!! :D

We often take the grandkids with us and they love it and they BEG to try and stay longer with us!! It's a wonderful family adventure and they will remember those fun times and like me do more as I grew up!
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away

Its so great that he likes camping. Much better for him than just watchinig TV or video games. Its a great bonding time when life is a little slower.

Camping is such a great experience for kids, even the ones who don't think so. So nice that your son enjoys it.

what a great feeling, know you'll get a chance to take him again soon, even
if its very close to home because of the gas prices.
