I have been carefully staying out of politics and religion threads - letting them run their course, as yes, I do believe we should be able to talk about anything - therefore the quote of Chris's. However, discussing them and using religion to give thanks where it really has no place are 2 different things. And often I wonder if our forum gets limited in who joins because of some of the comments made. We are not a Christian women's rv forum - we are a Women's RV forum - from all walks of life - whether atheist, agnostic, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc - and all of these women are equally invited here to discuss rving and anything else we wish to discuss.

As to a few comments here - no, God didn't provide (no matter whose God) unemployment coverage - we did - the employers and tax payers. No, God doesn't make choices in wars - we do - and just about every country and religion uses their beliefs to make what they did right. If you go to that extreme, then Christianity was on most sides of WWII and all wars. Or Judaism, or Hinduism, etc.

As for WWII, we didn't fight for the right to freedom of speech. We tried to stay out of that war - when England was suffering mightily - and only got in it after we were bombed by Japan - not Hitler. And we knew we were going to be bombed.

I'm in agreement that all wars are bad - and don't really solve anything - but become necessary because we don't solve the issues before they get that far. All wars HELP our economy. Sad, isn't that.

OK - so now I talked religion and politics and war. What I don't want to have to do is limit discussions on here. But we CAN limit when and how we talk it. In a discussion here - it's ok. In a thread where it's not a part of the talk at all - there's no need to toss in religion as the reason or why for something - when it really has no place there.

Holy Crap - let the censorship begin.
We'll all have to read and following new posting rules, eh?
Yet again, common sense does not prevail.

Frankly, I too, would prefer to keep this forum more specifically focused on RVing and more generic things.. I just don't want to get involved HERE on political or religious subjects. We all have our personal beliefs and opinions and I prefer to keep mine to mostly to myself.

I don't think censorship is what is being reminded here...but an appreciation that not everyone here may hold the same religious beliefs...and that hopefully, we want to continue to attract and enjoy the diversity of the women we meet here....and to make them feel welcome and comfortable to discuss their RV'ing lives and issues...... :)

Well..... I also have tried to stay out of this thread. As I have very strong feelings about what is appropriate on this forum. But here goes,..... I had worded this response a couple days ago but didn't post,...

bible verse references do NOT belong on gun sites,.... especially when it's a government contract, especially when they are provided for our army, marines, etc.

And,.... quoted from above,... "'We believe that America is great when its people are good. This goodness has been based on biblical standards "...... it seems to me that many people are good and it has nothing to do with so called biblical standards. Geeeesh,..... there are good people who do not read the bible. good people who are agnostic or athiest. good people who are muslim or other religions,.....

Let's get back to travel and camping discussions.... and let religion, prayer and "god" be a personal and private matter.

Yes I am offended by the constant referral to "god"... prayer, prayer requests, and the general religious tone that has become prevelent here. Especially when the word "christian" is coupled with being kind. Come on gals,.... do you think that Jewish people or Muslims or athiests can't be kind?

I agree with Beth,... this is a Women's RV Forum,.... not a "christian" /prayer/ bible study group. There are appropriate places for all of that. and it is not here. As I said above,.. let's keep that all personal and private.

Now,.... can we talk about traveling, camping, our campers, routes, campgrounds, and more and more.....?

Well, if that's the case, then I should be offended when people talk about their children or grandchildren because I don't have any. What about not talking about cats, because I only have dogs. What about planning GTG's that are on the beach, Ronnie can't push his wheelchair through the sand, was that so we wouldn't go? I'd hope not, my point is that just because we don't share something doesn't mean that we should ban it here. BUT I also don't believe in posting threads that it's only intention is to stir things up! Have we been infiltrated by another forum just for that purpose or can we just respect each other and agree that we don't like everything about every person, but we have a common thread in our love to RV.

OMG - could you maybe be a little more specific about CONSTANT referrals to God? And the "prevalent" religious tone?

It is unbelievable to me that you think this forum has become (or is) a bible study group. Unbelievable. But it's okay when YOU talk about "religious groups" in previous threads? I'm not getting this whole thing here. Man, if someone's point was to stir the pot, just how successful was she?

Seriously, if you think it's cute you stirred up so much trouble, it's not.
What in the world could you have been thinking?

What? Posting a thought-provoking blog based upon an article appearing in major newspapers such as the New York Times and the Washington Post? Hmm. Guess I was actually thinking.

You didn't just post a thought provoking blog, you posted to a RV forum. And even if you were thinking, it wasn't for the good of the forum, it was to promote yourself or your blog.
