I have been carefully staying out of politics and religion threads - letting them run their course, as yes, I do believe we should be able to talk about anything - therefore the quote of Chris's. However, discussing them and using religion to give thanks where it really has no place are 2 different things. And often I wonder if our forum gets limited in who joins because of some of the comments made. We are not a Christian women's rv forum - we are a Women's RV forum - from all walks of life - whether atheist, agnostic, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc - and all of these women are equally invited here to discuss rving and anything else we wish to discuss.
As to a few comments here - no, God didn't provide (no matter whose God) unemployment coverage - we did - the employers and tax payers. No, God doesn't make choices in wars - we do - and just about every country and religion uses their beliefs to make what they did right. If you go to that extreme, then Christianity was on most sides of WWII and all wars. Or Judaism, or Hinduism, etc.
As for WWII, we didn't fight for the right to freedom of speech. We tried to stay out of that war - when England was suffering mightily - and only got in it after we were bombed by Japan - not Hitler. And we knew we were going to be bombed.
I'm in agreement that all wars are bad - and don't really solve anything - but become necessary because we don't solve the issues before they get that far. All wars HELP our economy. Sad, isn't that.
OK - so now I talked religion and politics and war. What I don't want to have to do is limit discussions on here. But we CAN limit when and how we talk it. In a discussion here - it's ok. In a thread where it's not a part of the talk at all - there's no need to toss in religion as the reason or why for something - when it really has no place there.
