Nothing to tie me down

Hello everyone! I get so excited reading everyones post here, you all are wonderful people! I was wondering if any of you more experienced rvers would be able to help me direct my energies. I seem to be going in all directions at once and have nothing to tie me down. I don't have an rv yet, I'm in the process of going bankrupt, my family situation went down the tubes and I just want to go and get out of here! I seem to be in a rut because there are so many options for me but one important thing is missing...money I'm a diligent worker, a certified personal care worker, tax preparer, management skills, rugged camping skills, travel experience etc. I just need to get out but seem to be stuck. I'm just tempted to pack up my car and go but I'm not sure where to. I do have two cats and two turtles in tow but they are friendly and willing to travel. I need some guidance!

Well Pebbles, I'm sorry to hear about your family and money troubles, and I understand your wish to get away from it all. But sometimes, especially in times like these, you need to have a plan. Do you have a safe place to stay for the time being? Do you have a job? Your picture looks like you are still pretty young, so I'm guessing you're not retired, right?

One thing you might investigate is places to workamp that provide housing (like Echo & Kelly do at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in the summer). That will get you in a new beautiful location where you can work and save for an rv/TT, and give you time to meditate about whether that's the lifestyle you desire or not.

Try not to do anything impulsive; be patient and carefully create a plan and a budget, that will keep you from repeating past mistakes.

Just to second Liz's suggestion ... here are some places to look for volunteer sites that provide housing and possibly per diem.

and above all...Dont give up. It's tough out there for virtually everyone. I have an RV and can't even afford to drive it. But this too shall pass --- Have Faith.

Pebbles...I see that you are a certified personal care worker. Have you considered a position as a live-in home care assistant? That would give you a chance to work, save some $$ because you would have housing and meals provided and you could possibly do some tax work on the side at the residence. Often families prefer to keep their elderly parents in familiar surroundings but want someone to be around to help all the time. The daughter of a lady I used to work was a live in-care provider for a quadriplegic. Could be a temporary solution and give you some time to set some long term goals. Just an idea.

Are there agencies for traveling personal care workers? They have those networks for nurses, and some travel in their RVs working all across the country.

Pebbles...we so understand the dilemma you find yourself in. The only thing different from our situation is that we have a motor home that we live full time in.

I like the advice that has been sent to you. I am going to take some of the advice myself - especially not doing something impulsively and to continue to have FAITH...God is Faithful and does provide though not always the way we think He should.

Hang in there and keep us updated on what you decide to do.

I can totally relate to where you are. Many times (lately) I've felt like just getting in my car and taking off. It will be a lot more tempting once I get my RV! Money is also an issue with me so I am still trying to figure that one out, even tho my SO is paying for my RV (he doesn't like traveling since he does so much of it for work) so it will be just me on the road (along with my furkids). I am in the learning and planning stage, and also feel that this is something I need to do now before something happens and I am no longer able to even tho I am only a year shy of 50 (can that be true? Yikes!!). I have been to several funerals this year for women who's lives were cut short before they got to do everything they wanted to do, and I don't want to be one of them. You will get great advice and support on here from those with more experience in this lifestyle.
