Owner's Manual

Owner's Manual

Postby Ladyhawk » Sat Jan 09, 2010 11:46 am

Possibly another question from the "Screwed by the Salesman" files, but when I requested an owner's manual at the dealership, I was told that Jayco didn't make them for my unit.(?) I have manuals for all the equipment, but nothing for the unit itself. I just went to the Jayco website to request one, but it kept saying my serial number was invalid. Again...? I know I was putting in the number it was asking me, but it just wasn't working.

So, is it true they don't have manuals for the unit? I think it should have one, just makes sense. I also have an unlabeled switch in the bathroom that's driving me crazy. I tried to follow the wires, but lost track of them somewhere underneath. A manual would probably tell me what it was. By the way, no one at the dealership knows what the switch is for either.

Amy, when I got my little trailer, there was no trailer manual. I got all the appliance manuals, and the roof manual, but nothing just about the trailer.

I'll bet you could find your answer to your specific unknown switch question on the Jayco owners forum:

Ok, dumb question - does anything turn "on" with the switch? Is the wiring "hot"? Is the switch on the wall? Is it original or added? Is there a fan in the bathroom?

Same here,...just took delivery of my 2010 Rockwood TT and no manual for the trailer. I do have a large vinyl envelope full of manuals and all kinds of info on each appliance and part from axle to roof fan. I think Mitch's suggestion of the owner's forum is a great one. Let us know if you find out what that switch is for,... very curious! :D

Nope, nothing turns on, gets hots, or makes noise. I've checked inside and out. I have six switches in the bathroom. One is for lights inside the bathroom, one for lights in the hallway, one for the water pump, one for the fan, one for the tank heaters, and one for.....what else would I need when trapped in the bathroom? An eject button?

I'll let you all know when I figure it out.

I vote for the eject button! It'd be great if that's the magical button to empty the holding tanks!

Maybe it's to engage the bidet?

Not quite. I still have a giant sized dog in my signature. I've made it as tiny as possible. Oh well, she's worth seeing up close.

Jess is perfect size. If you still see him big, maybe try restarting your computer and look, for some unknown reason that works for me sometimes, I guess you can tell I'm not a computer wiz, but hey, it works.

When I got my first MH...and this forum didn't exist for me...I posted on the RVNet Forum, regarding where to find the switches for the city water and the tank water, etc. I wrote in the question and gave the model and year of the rig. I got an answer...when the folks at the dealership didn't have a clue. It took someone with the same rig to fill me in. The switches were hidden behind a panel under the sink closed with tiny screws......Made filling a water tank so much fun. You had to take that panel off every time you filled the tank. Decide to use city water vs tank water......it gave me one more reason to trade rigs two years later ... Good Luck

When you say "tank heaters," do you mean the water heater? In my rig, I have a button for propane hot water, and electric. I only ask because you said in the other post you had a four-season rig with tank heaters.

Or you can try your refresh button. That's what works for me when working with Photobucket.

Yes, it's for the tank heaters. I have two separate switches for the water heater, one electric and one propane. I assume it heats the tanks, but it's not enough to protect the valves. I'm tempted to head out to Home Depot or Camping World today to browse through insulation and heating, but my son might do so much eye rolling they'll get stuck in the back of his head.

Okay...I can't remember the name of the darn thing right now...think it starts with an M. It stirs up and breaks down solids in the black water tank for a cleaner empty...could it be a switch for that? I'm thinking if you have heated holding tanks you might have one of those too....but you would probably hear it running too.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.
